garagemethods
highflow cats are the way to go. a friend of mine went from deleted cats to highflow cats and the only difference was cleaner sound, still just as loud.

1_fastsilverado
I just bought a set of "allflow" cats from frozenboost.com, they are a piece of pipe with a very realistic looking shell welded to them. It's as good as it gets IMO and theyre about 40 a piece.
Badkarma
How much better do the magnaflows flow better than stock? I'm looking at the 3 inch universal ones and Im kinda curious. Also wondering if it would change the sound of my exhaust since its so tame now. Magnflow Dosnt list them is high flow that I could find. Just spun substrate universal. Considering magnaflows are $95 a piece...i'm kinda wanting to consider these but i'll still have black exhaust tips Edited June 10, 2009 by SweetSS24 (see edit history)
garagemethods
guy you're talking about two different things... the magna flows are actual catalytic converters vs. the "allflow" from frozen boost is just a straight pipe with a cat housing around it. and the magna flows flow WAY better than stock, they sound almost like a straight pipe just "cleaner" also the "allflow" cats are kinda just for looks in case a cop really wants to be an a-hole and get up under the truck. tburkdoll
I was bout to buy the magnaflows but it was gonna cost me 190 bucks so i decided to hold off for a day. I was told i needed 3'' inch cats but i thought our SSS exhaust was 2.5'' ???
ImpalaSSpeed96
Anytime you hollow out cats, its gonna sound like shat. The sound resonates inside the cat and it sounds like crap. Any hi-flow cat is gonna open up the exhaust a lot though. Cats kill a ton of motor noise... Far as the sizing, I would definitely check w/ one of the elders on the site. PM Krambo, he would know without a doubt. Edited June 10, 2009 by ImpalaSSpeed96 (see edit history)
garagemethods
i figured you had just glanced. just tryin to clear up anything on my part. but YES! krambo would most likely know, and YES again the design of the cat without it's guts causes a nasty bouncing of sound waves. tburkdoll
lol i noticed the bouncing of sound waves...i like the volume i have with the gutted cats but hate the cluttery sound so i'm doin what i can to fix it...just need to put in the magnaflow cats of whatever size krambo tells me i need and i think that should solve my sh*tty sound
garagemethods
i have no doubt it will solve the sound issue, in fact i actually prefer the magnaflow sound better than the deleted sound. although i heard a straight piped gto that just about made me wet my pants it sounded so good!!!
