The Ss Is Gone

i am resisting to mods to the motor on this thing , i know i can have fun but its expensive when things break kind of like these trucks but twice as much. i need reliability and something i can enjoy . sadly i cant say that i have that with my ss but soon hopefully.

Actually a tune in the 90-100 hp range and 160-200tq from ppe/ats etc would actually help the driveability of the truck and you will still be safe at that level. I drive mine every day (60 miles round trip) on a 240hp-520tq tune.

Like I told you the other day CONGRATS. I have been DD a diesel since 2005 and Thats all I will ever have. The 09 LMM i have been driving has been the worst one yet. I will be back into a powerstroke by this weekend if everything goes right.

Had me going...I was in totall disbelief, glad you kept it. I remeber when I was on this site for the first time, I cliked on one of your posts and I saw your truck. 2 weeks later I was at the dealership trading in my Z71, I knew I just had to have one. Seeing your truck..... and Justin Lamana's truck doing all wheel drive burnouts are the reasons I own my SSS.

Looks good Chase... good thing I already knew you were getting rid of the car otherwise that post would have freaked me out :)

If/when you need this new rig prepped and sealed up you know who to call. BTW - started the new job, I have regular hours now so my time is much more available for working on your projects

It seems like a little bit ($ wise) goes a long way with these diesel's....they are fun. Banks 6 Gun FTW, with intake, exhaust. HELLO BLACK SMOKE :P

Seriously though, a long box.......do you even own a 10' ladder, LOL J/K....Love it!

EFILive can put a big hurting on the Banks tuner and with their costom operating system, you can also have 5 different selectable tunes on the fly via the EFILive V2 or autocal or an isntaled switch. plus it allows you to expand as you see fit for what ever mods you have or get in the future

Friday was its last day in my possesion , i had enough of it and needed something that can be used with more practicality in my life future.

seems like its the trend around here to mod the hell out of a gen 3 truck and then step into a diesel. being a diesel mechanic it was a no brainer. I have been looking for ltz 2500's for a while with no luck . I wont buy new since im a tight wad so i had a friend of me keep his eye out . friday he called me and said he just picked up a 2008 greystone metallic 3500 cclb ltz with a single rear wheel. Took it for a drive and came back a few hours later to get numbers i liked. this truck has every option minus sunroof , to me not a big deal . i also would have preferred the charcoal interior but this is just fine .

came with a mbrp exhaust and some aftermarket wheels and tires.

just tinted the window to match the rear and orded some hid's for lows and fogs.

only plans are a nice lift with some 20/38 tires

and the coolest part , i traded in the camaro , not the truck :jester::chevy:

this will be the SS hauler.

hahaha i was like holy Sh*t dude i cant believe he got rid of his silvy!!!!

Props on the new wheels! :chevy:

you had me, but i new you were doing you new motor and tranny and was wondering why would you get rid of that? Who would buy it unless they knew you? If someone unsuspecting came into ownership they would relize the loud pedal is dangerous and just leave it parked.

well i have the mods waiting now.

fabtech 8" lift kit , using atlas 8 springs in the rear , i have to weld on new shock mounts to use dual bilstein reservoir shocks on each side ( 8 total )

picked up the new style fabtech knuckles that are revised and bring the wheels in more (1.5 inchs per side) that will result in alot of good ( less premature wear on the ball joints, tie rods , and idler/pitman arms ) which i just picked up all new from moog .

i ordered the exaxt steering upgrade kit that has all billet stuff, billet centerline and tie rods ends

steeringassembly.jpg

that should help out with some problems with the lifting of these trucks ( i can already feel some play in the steering which is pretty standard on all gmt 800-900 trucks) so ill be checking this on the SS when it gets home and replacing them as well

bought the torsion bar unloading tool from kent-more

waiting on two sets of h.i.d. lamps i ordered from wicked 0 six that i will be installing in a few hours.

now the only thing im in need of are some nice looking 20 inch wheels with some 37 inch rubber.

still debating on if im going black on grey or going chrome on grey for the looks .

congrats on the new truck. Looks sweet. You made mention about the steering upgrade kit do they make something like that for the SS??? My truck has some play and looking for other options.. Let me know thanks

the steering components are the same on the 1/2 to to 1 ton from 99-11 so yes this kit can be used on the SS , is it necessary? not at all. its more for lifted trucks with heavy loads on the front end and lifted trucks . imo i would go to napa get the moog (hd napa stuff) replacements , tie rods(if they have play) pitman and idler arms . most likely they are gone if your near 100k miles. my truck has only 30k and it isnt perfect.

Congrats!!

I just about have my truck sold as well! Looking to get a Tundra and leaving it all stock.

alex man , cant say im happy for you. your SS is so clean why rid of it? im sure a new truck would be great and i admit new is always nice. but cmon man , a tundra? not american , with all toyota problems ? why not go buy a denali truck in the nbs ? the interior is second to none , the 6 speed with the 6.2 will put a hurting on the tundra in looks and speed . price is a bit more but dam the denali trucks are what i see you rollin

finished the hid install a few minutes ago . a bit more involed that i anticapated but it came out tite. low beams , and fog light with the riken sport 6k . i got the new style rikensport ballast as well , the new ones are more compact and concealable . perfect for the gmt 900 trucks since there isnt as much room as the 800's. now time for dinner.
