Blown 346
Gotcha, I was under the impression because of how they were mounted they did not make boost like a roots style even though they were belt driven. I have a question. On a front mount turbo running a mild 4-8psi. Do I "need" an intercooler? Was looking. Can get the manifold, and Hot pipes for 1400. Oil lines, and all those fitting under 200, and the buy a turbo, wastegate, BOV, etc. and install it for under 2500. Then later when funds allowed add an intercooler? Would this work? I have two procharged cars and both make boost instantly. My camaro with just full exhaust and the Pro Charger made 493 RWHP on 7 PSI. You dont need to run a intercooler, but will help with power gains. You can always add a intercooler, its better than never adding one. 2bfast
If you are going through all the trouble to add a power adder why wouldnt you install a cooler? In my opinion if you cant afford an intercooler you prolly shouldnt be buying anything at all. Installing a blower specially a turbo without a cooler would be like pissing in the wind
rickyrick562
From what I read pro chargers make more boost than roots style blowers. Turbos produce much higher boost levels but you get lag. Supercharger has instant boost + AWD = a lot of fun
Silverado2469
Well I'm 2wd/4wd. I have a 2001 RCSB z71 package. 5.3l. Lol. But actually I might have found a pre fabbed turbo kit. We will see how everything fans out.
Blown 346
Just make sure the Kit you get isnt a cheap imitation Ebay kind.
Silverado2469
Nope there's two options right now. One is a rear mount STS kit. One is a front mount kit. I'm leaning towards the rear mount cuz I gotta smog it in California, but we will see what the front mount contains before I make up my mind. The STS has an MP t70, upgraded oil pump, tial wastegate, tial BOV. 60lb injectors, all piping, etc. kit has 10-12k miles on it. With the turbo and pump only having 2-3k miles. Not sure about the front mount yet will be a day or so to get a list of parts.
Blown 346
Why does it matter for rear or front mount for Emissions??
Silverado2469
STS is California smog legal. And easier to "cover up" or take off during smog.
chawkins6789
Is STS the only smog legal kit? I'd love a front mount. Sent from my DROID RAZR MAXX using Xparent Red Tapatalk
Silverado2469
I'm not 100% sure I just know that the STS kit has a carb number.
chawkins6789
I just don't want to hack up my corsa or have to get rid of it Sent from my DROID RAZR MAXX using Xparent Red Tapatalk
Silverado2469
Ya I have a custom 3" catback was like 150$ to get done, so Ida if I gotta cut it up. But to be honest you should only have to cut off one section. Mount the turbo then mount the other section to the turbo.
Silverado2469
How do you guys like the whipple 2300AX side mount?
kcsilveradoss
From what I heard in the past whipple makes good power but are not user friendly when it comes to getting parts/customer service.
