SuperStock
I had posted on here before about keep getting a random miss fire and flashing CEL, Well I finally took it to the dealer and they said that there is air getting into the cylinder 1 & 2 and the head gaskets need to be replaced and heads need to be pressure tested cheapest price is $2500 to do it all if the heads arn't cracked. SuperStock
Yea just a tad, I might as well buy new heads?!?!
zippy
Wow, you had me there for a minute on that. So you're saying you found it, but haven't fixed it yet to prove that it is the actual cause for the random miss fire. I hope they've tried the stuff like crank learn and checking the cats first. It is a pretty common thing for air to get to the cylinders... That's how they work. I've never seen a head gasket replacement get rid of what they are describing as likely a vacuum leak. Ask them for a guarentee that the head gaskets will fix the problem.
SuperStock
The dealer found it, and it has been over heating as well I forgot to mention that. I guess they did some dye test and thats how they came up with the head gaskets needing to be replaced.
SuperStock
Not sure what I should do at this point.
Downeast Johnny
Check out the things that Zippy mentioned; (The crank learn won't break the bank and you can look for vacuum leaks yourself). Or; Go to a reputable independent shop, (Not another dealer), and get a second opinion.

SuperStock
The part that sucks is that if I were in MD my guy would do the work no problem, but I just moved to San Diego and don't really know any places close or that I trust to do the work. Downeast Johnny
There are several guys on the site who are in Cali. Start a new thread asking for shop recommendations in San Diego. Good luck.
