I'm looking into an 8 rib conversion kit and when I called Magnuson last week to ask about the availability (or lack thereof) of a 102mm inlet on the blower, I spoke with a dude named Garrett from the hot rod division - he recommended the ATI 8 rib system because of it's steel construction. I know a lot of you guys run the innovators west aluminum conversion...what's the difference? Is there any benefit to the Innovators West over the ATI or vice versa?

ATI is cheaper. And the material is stronger. But with billet aluminum, whether it be rims or whatever, it's gonna be more expensive. They're all cut from one piece aluminum. They're very light, they look good... But 8rib is an 8rib. I think next time I wouldn't spend the $1000 on a 8 rib. I'd probably buy a used ATI kit and put the money elsewhere. But, the billet does look good under the hood.

Took off work early today and finished up the headers with the help of my bro. For those of you with an 80e and ARH'S, you will need to cut off the bolt to the inspection cover on the Passenger side almost flush with the starter to get proper clearance.

Took off a little bit at a time but this still wasn't enough

Great job Randy! Looks good man! I don't have an inspection plate on my 80e yet. Guess ill have to whack off that piece too if I install one. This truck is a beast man! Great work!

Thanks bro! Mine is just the mini beast yours will be a BIG Beast lol!

Smart thinking pulling your wheel well out to take care of the passenger side crap. That probably made life a lot easier.

Yes it was...gotta give credit to my Brother on that one! Once you pull off the wheels and remove the plastic retainers for the wheel wells, you have very easy access to install the headers, change out plugs, etc. Beats the hell out of leaning over the fenders!

On a different note, I just got off the phone with Mike from Killer Paint. He received the Speedsturr from Gaylords today and he should receive my tailgate cap I sent him tomorrow so he can match up the pattern...pretty stoked!

  • 3 weeks later...

oops, I already ordered them directly from the IW website + a few other goodies should be arriving this week too. Also found out IW is located in Salina, KS which is not too far from where I live - ordered these yesterday morning and they're being delivered today by noon! :)
