Anything over 400 hp I would add shift kit, servo and all the other goodies Zippy would add.....

 

Anything over 500 hp get a built transmission.... smash.gif

 

and you would know this from what experience?? :thumbs:

I would think his experiences with going through a couple of transmissions and transfer cases along with his curent setup... :wtf:

I've got a 502 crate motor, dropping it into a theft recovery tahoe. I don't know how it would perform, but its a lot of work, and a lot of the parts have to be changed. I agree with the other members, if you have a perfectly working truck, you should try modifications before ripping the engine out.

I haven't heard anything good about Chevy's non-LS1 crate motors, and plenty bad. It would appear that you would do much better - quality-wise and even price-wise - by going to HPE or APE, etc, and getting one of them to build you a motor.
