  1. Your profile says SC. Are you just visiting PSNS?
  2. No, I am just a shipyard bubba. I did 8 years in the Navy as a submarine reactor operator then started working at the shipyard when I got out in 2004.
  3. Looks good. I am seriously considering the flat black for my black truck.
  4. Are you saying that the alignment shop raised your truck after you lowered it when they aligned it? If so, I would take it back and have them re lower it to where you brought it in at and have them realign it.
  5. No, there are around 8000 people at the shipyard and I haven't seen any other SS's around in the various parking lots. I was hoping they would see this here.
  6. OK, someone left a note on my windshield outside the shipyard in Bremerton yesterday. It just said "Nice truck. I have one too. Check out silveradoss.com." Pretty funny that someone is advertising the website this way. ANyone else have something similar happen to them?
  7. Also I noticed that one of the torsion bolts is backed out further than the other. Looks like the truck is level left to right, is this normal?
  8. I really need an alignment after lowering the front half an inch or so? Here is the before pic. I'll try to do it this weekend and get some after pics.
  9. I bought my truck in February and it already had the McGaughy's 2/3.5 drop with spindles and shackles/hangers. The front is sitting just a little bit higher than the rear. Can I adjust the stock torsion bolts to lower the front a little? How much? Thanks
  10. What brake pads are you using front and rear? Are you happy?
  11. Ride is very smooth now. I haven't pushed it in the corners, yet but it feels pretty good. I still want to upgrade the shocks and add some sway bars. I'm determined to get this 5000+ lb truck to handle like a sports car.
  12. I finally got the time to take off the extra brackets. Now the cut down bump stops are bolted directly to the frame. Took about an hour and I didn't have to take off the wheels. In fact I was able to unbolt the brackets without jacking up the truck. Once the nuts were removed, I jacked up the rear enough for the brackets to come free of the frame and dropped it back down. Attaching the bump stop directly to the frame was simple. It is already drilled for it including the small hole for the locating tab. Pretty easy. I could already tell a difference just in driving up the gravel driveway. I'll take it out for a drive later today and let you know how it goes.
  13. We all know the trans is the weak link in the drivetrain. At what power levels do the transfer case and differentials start to show problems?
  14. That makes sense about the cladding, but this is pretty bad. And you can see that the body lind isn't even between the cab and bed. If you look down the length of the truck it looks like the bed slopes down to the rear slightly when compared to the cab. I think if I can lower the front about 1/4" it will help.
  15. 04 SS with McGaughy's 2/3.5" drop. What are my performance shock options?
  16. When I bought my truck a month ago, the bed seemed a little off. The front is raised up slightly and the gap between the bed and cab is larger at the top than the bottom. How do I adjust the bed on the frame? How many bolts hold it on? Is this something I could do by myself or do I need help? Damn GM quality control!!
  17. I didn't think about using softer rear bumpers. I crawled under there today, but didn't have time to do any work. The bracket is still there and the bump stops are maybe an 1/8" from the axle. Looks like just taking out the bracket will free up 1-2". Thanks, guys.
  18. Thanks, guys. I found a post on here just a bit ago that talked about removing the bracket that holds the bump stops and bolting them directly to the frame. My bump stops are already cut and the bolts aren't too tight. I'll try removing the bracket and see what happens.
  19. I picked up my truck about a month ago and it has the McGaughy's 2/3.5 drop on it. It rides really stiff and the rear really seems to jump around when I hit any bumps. I crawled under there yesterday and it looks like the bump stops are riding on the axle or within 1/4". From the pictures I have seen here, it looks like the bump stops have been cut down like they are supposed to be. I jumped up and down and the bumper and it felt like the only thing giving was the tires. What can I do to make it feel like there is actually a suspension back there? Here are some pictures of how low it is. http://home.comcast.net/~baconjb/ss.html
  20. OK, this may be a dumb question, but I just got plates for my new truck and have no screws to mount them (previous owner kept them). Does anyone know what size screws to use? Also what about the front? I have no bracket to attach the plate since I bought the car from out of state where they don't use fronts. How does the front plate attach? Thanks
  21. Would the 1" bar be a good match for the stock front?
  22. I need to pull the passenger's door panel to replace the door ajar switch. Anyone have any info or diagrams/pictures of how to do this? Thanks
  23. I thought it could do engine tune as well. There was a huge thread about dual tunes over on ls1tech.com in the conversions section. Its been a while since I read it, but I was pretty sure Jesse was saying it could be done.
