  1. I wouldn't buy one either. For me, it's the steps up into the bedroom, with lower ceiling height. Like going to bed in a refrigerator box. I'm told that once I have one, I'd never go back... I guess I'll never know. I've been very happy with the setup I have.

    :withstupid:

  2. i drive a chevy express 3500 wan with a 6.0L for work, the older vans had read drum brakes and would need front brabe service every 25k and the new van with rear disc brakes just got its first front brake job @ 75k, and thats not easy driving either!!!! of course drum brakes last longer, thats because the dont work. and of course this is from a guy with rear drums on his truck :uhoh:

  3. Depends on what you call expensive. Ever price body work for the back of a cab, along with a rear window?

The hitch doesn't seem so expensive.

i agree with that, personally i would never buy a 5th wheel, ive seen too many trucks damaged by the trailers in the glamis/offroad community, not worth the headache, and if i were to buy one id buy a long bed truck to haul it with

  5. Pretty much agree with Bonj.

What I tell people is this: a good sign that your job is going well is that you have others grooming you up the ladder; when you loose that, you're at a dead-end.

You have not shared a whole lot about the exact particulars of your situation, but my read is that you have just done something which ended your "upward grooming". I mean sure they counter-offered, but I'll bet $1 that your path of advancement just ceased. Now if you want to continue working this job from now until your employment ends with this company then ok go for it. But I think you just parked your career.

    My $0.02.

    Mr. P.

sounds like my own life story...need to find a new job myself!

  6. A guy I worked for had a 1/2 ton Ford SuperCrew, with the 5'9" box. He pulled a fifth wheel with a pull-rite hitch... I'd never seen a fifth wheel hitch like this before. When the truck turned a corner, the hitch had a cam in it, that turned, and slid towards the back of the box. When it straightened out, it pulled back up on to the axle.

expensive!!! but if it your last choice, ok

  7. The 5th wheel I found is 5500 dry and 7000GVW. My options are kind of between a 5th wheel and a 27' holiday trailer. I just figures the 5th wheel would be better, but if I had to get a tow behind I guess it would work too. As for the tires, they are stock so if GM rated the SS for 7500lbs, tires should be good.

if you are running the stock tire and wheel set up then your good to go but beware of low-pro car performance tires

  8. check your payload rating (weight you can carry in the bed) first, also check your tires and check their load capacity! with a fifth wheel most of the weight is on the truck compared to a pull behind trailer where the weight car be distributed with a weight distribution hitch to the front of the truck and onto the trailer, plus fifth wheel hitches are ugly and take up all your bed space. after all those things are ok you will need to add air helper bags so the back end of your truck doesnt drag on the ground.

One more thing.... does anyone even make a fifthwheel trailer whose GVWR loaded is less then 10k?

  9. thats kinda odd you got the CEL when pulling a trailer loaded up. When I moved to AZ from PA half of the ride I had that light on and it was the same thing with the MAF. Once the trailer was unload and unhooked from my truck, no more light.

what intake are you running? ive just got a brop in K&N with the bottom of the air box drilled out, just figured the maf was dirty, but no further issues.

  10. I plan on hauling my first substantial load this weekend with a 16' Car Hauler with probably 2 Banshee's, a 400 EX and maybe a Craptor. Anything I might need to look out for or do to the truck? It has about 3500 miles on it (not trying to jack your thread)

deff need a brake controller, easy hook up, think mine is a takaguya or sometimng like that, see your local RV store, i also use the electric shock button on the dash to reduce the bounce

  11. went out to pismo beach (250 miles) this labor day weekend with the trailer fully loaded with quads and had a great weekend with only minor troubles. First thing i did when we got to the beach was get stuck so bad my friends diesel couldent get me out, had to un hook the trailer and air down to nothin' . the diesel had to hook up to the trailer and my truck pull him out of the soft stuff. my best investment was a 100$ 30ft tow strap...

This was my first real trip pulling that amount of weight and got about 9.5 mpg going about 65. was happy with the power and very glad i chose this truck and the 4x4. on the way home was the only glitch with the truck, going up a steep grade it threw a CEL, called ON-star and they said it was a code to do with the intake system, and to keep on driving. code went away after a couple of stops, the MAF probally got some K&N oil on it and just needs a cleaning..............

    overall good weekend.

  12. Lol, very true... NOS is so expensive where I live that I've never had any encounter with the kits...

no burn intended.... the zex systems use an all in one solenoids/relay/controller/switch box very easy set up and they integrate a tps 5v signal switch to activate the system.....very cool, but what if you have the valve go bad?! they also use standard external valves too though.
