To Keep it short, I had a stock LQ9, with a vortech blower: completely destoyed #7 piston, chiped cylineder wall, bent rod.
I went through past post and seen many of you had pictures that looked like mine.
Has any body else destroyed this cylinder?
So I built a 408ci stroker as a replacement while I had it out.
I have 1000mi on my stroker and it threw a p0300 code yesterday and started running rough, and had an intermettint rattle kinda like valve train. I had it towed home, diaged it and found 5psi compression in cylinder 7, and 150 psi in the remaining cylinders
I have JE forged dished pistons, I have valve covers off, dont appear to be valve train, Waiting on a borescope to see what is really happening. ( will update on condition )
WTF, I did the motor myself and I Spent $6000 in parts! AKA: All the extra money I have aquired since last january.

yea im running the 2.8 and its right at 9 psi....once u had heads and cam it drops it though, correct..?
Boost Is a measure of restriction, so yes. the more You make your engine flow u will lose boost psi.(remember you will still be making more power cause you are just using more of that un-used air.

Just a thought, I would pull the lens off, and pull the tach needle off it's pin and reset the tach needle to zero, and try that first. I intsalled white face guages on another vehicle and ran into that type of problem i didn't press the needle on far enough.(those clusters often go on the fritz too, a dealer can run a guage sweep w/factory scan tool and give you a better idea.)

hmmph - maybe I'm outta touch, I thought $16K was a good price assuming the truck is in excellent condition. I don't think you will find one cheaper. Another bargaining point, unless the warranty is honest-to-god General Motors warranty don't get it, a lot of guys have gotten burned when the warranty companies welched on repairs, the genuine GM factory extended warranty was the only one I've heard of that actually followed-through. So you might be able to have them knock off some $$$ by foregoing the warranty. Truck wise, yes the steering shaft is an ongoing sore point, and I would have an experienced transmission expert evaluate the condition of the trans because I would not doubt at that age it needs to be refreshed, my $0.02. Good luck whatever you decide.
Mr. P.
Good point, I Have First extended and they have never covered a repair. It's either abuse or not imparative to repair.(after I wasn't worried about voiding warrenty "cause i basically didn't have one" I did a full build)
"Major Gurad" is GM's Warrenty. make sure it says that, or it is not authentic. best extended warrenty for your truck. In my Opinion as a GM Technician

Yea good question bro. keep em coming! Originally I figured the BCM would need to be programmed for the CJ2 code
From, what I see, Programming for module replacement is not neceary. I know I swaped radio's between a 2006 2500hd base model and an uplevel radio, and it wouldn't work. I even Programmed them 2? one said Cal Error and the other said locked. , I think your Journey is valid, worth a try , jus to be the guy that did it. mine has climate controll, so your on your own. lol
P&S, I've herd from somebody that herd from some body that had a freind that said alot of vehicle run the same basic harness, so adding power window, seats, locks,etc...the wires are allready there. not sure? lol

Mr. P.
Very Helpful! Thank You, Dan

hello,
to me 16K seems like a good deal? I come from an area where all wheel drive is in high demand and those truck are rare, here any way.
as for the mile's, if the truck runs strong now, and you leave it the way it is. that engine should pull 200k easy w/regular maintenance.
On the Upper Intermediate shaft, If there is a Recall it will be done for free. But I only remember there being a service Bullitan on those? Could be wrong? only 2 bolts hold it in, 15mm wrench and your there! very easy.
Welcome!

Thanks for the help.
the converter was built for my truck. the tech guy at TCI recomended it,that was the only stall option in that converter. the only advantage off putting it in now is he will do it for free, If I switch converters he definately would not go for that. I think I will keep the stock converter that he accidentally installed. and install a different converter later down the road. he said he would buy the TCI form me, about $650.
P&S When People say it takes getting use too, what exactly are U getting used too?
Thank You ~Dan

my tc is a bout a 3200 stall . sluggish out of the hole ? before tc 1.9 60 ft after tc 1.72 60ft . you will have to adapt your driving habits a little but i like it
He said it would be good from a dead stop, but when it was already moving and between gears on regular driving would be sluggish, thank's for the advice, though, I am jus trying to figure out if it would be annoying to drive when i am not out getting on it. I choose 3600, cause i dont build boost till 3400rpm and I wanted to launch close to my boost range, cause it is a dog off the line. ??/

Thank's for checking this out,
Here is my situation, I just Had my Trans built. And aperentally there was a miscomunication at the trans shop and the converter I suplied did not get installed, it has a stock converter at this time. (He will install it for free if I want it, but he say's I wont like it and Is really trying to talk me out of it.
The Converter is a: TCI, Super Street Fighter, 3600rpm stall.
What should I do? I am intrested to find out how other people with SSS, like there's, what do u hate? I kinda got one shot at this, trans guy say's it will be very sluggish at lower speeds and break my neck at every light.
cam is: 550 lift int/exh. duration 204/218 int/exh
engine: 408ci, centrifugal blower
Thank's

Have You looked into programming? I know alot of new controll modules must be programmed to the vehicle, using GM Tech 2? still wouldn't be to hard to pull off.

any clearancing involved with the 408?
There is really no clearing w/the 408, you jus need to have pistons for the large crank, more specifically piston#8. you do not need to notch the block as with past chevy 350 blocks. Summit racing, has the eagle complete kit for $2200. I believe

I havent been on any of the forums in a while. I havent even had time to mess with it for months... All my tools are at work so I cant really do anything. All I need to do to get it running is hook up the heater hoses in the back, put on the oil pan- and I need to get a weird looking banjo bolt for the PS pump that I cant seem to find anywhere. After that its all body work...
For your Lowering Kit, I would Look to McGaughy.com they are in the know on 4wd drops. Spindle, Shackle, hanger kit.

Damn i was hoping i wouldnt have to take it in to the dealer... last time i went for my moonroof rails the guy at the shop desk give me some bullshit about them not being able to cover it unless it was a safety hazard and they also wanted cover the rental since i would have to leave it over night...
well i guess i'll have to call them up tomorrow to find out when would be a good time to take it in...
THNX again guys

for time being, so you dont run your battery dead. Look at the fuse panel under your hood, and your rear park lights are fused individually with 10amp mini fuse, I would pull that for sure.

No 1/4 times for me this year, the closest drag stip is 300mi away, and snow is comming any day,
I am gonna run 1/4 mile with G Tech Pro, not sure how accurate that will be? I only have 500mi on the engine since i built it, and the trans was just put in a couple days ago, I smoked the trans on break in . I dont get back home tell monday, so I will post g-tech 1/4 mile times tuesday. FYI, stock, supercharged at -30 below my best run was 13.85 @ 10lbs of boost, (It blew up a few miles Later, lol) That was on my G-Tech.
will load more pic's when I get home,(bent rods, piston pieces, etc....LOL
