  1. Nice looking cruiser Shaun. I've been in the process of outfitting 3 new cruisers for our department. We bought an Chev Impala, Dodge Charger, and a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Jeep is a "special service vehicle" like yours, not pursuit rated. It's only got the 4.7 Liter 8 Cylinder engine, not the "Hemi", and it's 4x4. We put the Whelen "Liberty" all LED lightbar on it. Until you turn on the lights most violators don't even realize it's a police vehicle until the see the pretty light show in their rear view mirror! The LED's are BRIGHT! It has a setting to dim it for night use because it's so bright. Here's a pic of it.
  2. Yea that crossed my mind too, but I thought if the tool was just a few bucks then it might be cheap insurance to guard against those "Oh Sh**" situations.
  3. I think I'm going to try lubing the upper intermediate shaft myself rather than let the dealer muck around with the SS. Looking at the service manual they state: "Notice On 2002 and later model year vehicles, the steering column LOCK was removed from the steering column. It is critical that the J 42640 Steering Column Anti-Rotation Pin is used when servicing these steering columns. Failure to use the J 42640 may result in damage to the SIR coil." Anyone know what the cost of a J 42640 is? I really don't want to break the SIR coil.
  4. Glad to hear you're ok, but sorry to hear about your truck. One way to look at it though, is you didn't run into anything of value!
  5. And the fastest right?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Welcome aboard! As for being the fastest; NO, they discontinued Arrival Blue because it didn't have enough power/speed to get out of its own way!
  6. Glad I could be of some help. I was really surprised how well it worked when I used it, I would have never have even thought of it had I not read the newsgroup post from the guy that has the tree trimming business. Ray
  7. I was really skeptical when I read about the Rain-X too, but I was prepared to have the top of my SS repainted so I was willing to try anything. With the size of goobers you're describing you will most likely have to do it a few times to get it off; at least I did. I washed the hood off after I was done with Dawn dishwashing liquid and then applied wax. Hood looks fine; no sign of damage by the Rain-X and it’s been over a year since I did mine.
  8. I think I'll give this a try before spending the money for the replacement shaft. Thanks for the tip!
  9. I had the same thing. I tried everything; claybar, wd40, mineral spirits, gasoline, bug & tar remover, etc. I was desperate! I went on a newsgroup and read a post from a guy that has a tree trimming business and he said the only thing he found to work was "Rain-X", yep the stuff you put on your windshield! I was thinking I was going to have to paint the top of my SS anyway so I said what the heck and tried it and IT WORKED!
  10. Mine just started doing it at about 28k. One of these days I'll order one of Borgeson's steering shafts and fix it the first time rather than having the dealer tearing things up under the dash and not fixing it.
  11. I'm sorry, but I don't like the looks of a Esclade frontend on an SS. The SS frontend is what caught my eye when I first saw my SS. (sorry Brian)
  12. ok well I geuss that ok then... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So do you want to buy some stripes...I can make them part one color and part another.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> GOOD ONE!
  13. Wow, that last earthquake up there must have been worse than I thought! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've always heard that California is a "little different", now I guess this proves it!
  14. Congratulations on the baby(s)! As for the financial aspect of the equation, run the numbers. Costs of living subtracted from your income, then IF there is enough left over you might consider keeping the SS. Oh, and don't forget to put some into savings each paycheck. Remember you have the most important responsibility in your life now, and it comes FIRST.
  15. Looks good, I really like the Joe Gibbs wheels.

  18. Welcome Aboard!, 50 has at least ONE BIG BENEFIT! Now you can have the "I don't give a poop what everyone else thinks attitude" because you can just blame it on your age! It's relly pretty handy! I'll be 50+2 on Saturday.
  19. Is it listed in Zippys "Differential Specs" thread?
  20. Hey! Who you referring too??!!!! Oh, I almost forgot (got terminal CRS), welcome aboard Dave's SS!

I know you said the sound comes from under the dash, but could it be coming from your brake pad wear indicators?
