  1. ^^^^^ I agree with BLNAWAY.... With the exception of me putting an x-pipe just before the mufflers to eliminate the unequal exhaust drone and pressure...
  2. For our Generation trucks it is 2 credits per vehicle or 6 credits for all make model of the same year... If you plan on tuning more than 2 vehicles of the same year and make/model you will benifit from using 6 credits as it is unlimited tunes for all vehicles of the same year/make/model... An example of what 6 credits get you that is same year make/model would be for my truck, would be- Unlimited all 2003 Silverados'/ GMC sieras' with the 4.8, 5.3, 5.7, 6.0, 8.1 Liter engines... Otherwise 2 credits get you all vehicle specific tunes such as: As many 2003 SS Silverados you want, or as many 2003 silverados' with the 5.3 that you want, or as many 2003 Silverado 8.1L's you want, but only that specific vehicle, make/model/engine... Once you unlock the credits for the vehicle or vehicles that you want to tune you will never have to purchase those credits again unless you lose your VCM box and cables... With the exception mentioned below As a side note if you plan on doing any custom speed density tuning it will cost you an additional 2 credits no matter if you already purchased unlimited credits for that vehicle but once purchased it will then be unlimited tunes for that vehicle... Most people won't ever need SD tuning as it is intended for higher horse applications with big boost... Hope this helps
  3. I by no means covered it all but just to get an idea and if I am off on the numbers a little bit its just examples LOL---- To be kinda brief, which I don't think there is a way to be LOL... 2bar and 3bar are measurements of atmospheric pressure but the definition of mapping gets less detailed as you go up in bars... Just as an example, lets say Atmospheric pressure is 100KPA,(105KPA I beleive stock sensors go up to) thus a standard NA vechicle will be equiped with a 1bar MAP sensor... Now if you are supercharged, or turboed and forcing more air/oxygen than what the engine naturally can suck, then you will be reading above 100KPA and a 2bar (200KPA) MAP sensor is needed to accuratley read boost pressures... For instance at 10PSI boost you may read 175-185KPA while at 20PSI you will read maybe 250 or little more KPA... Thus a 2.5BAR MAP would be required for more accurate tuning since it will read up around 250KPA... A 3BAR most likely will never be needed for most people except in very high boost applications... As far as Speed density goes, for a short answer , SD takes readings from the IAT sensor, MAP sensor, and RPM TPS... Thus not needing the MAF Sensor if your IAT is relocated... In general a SD is used on more aggressive FI motors that go above the boundries of what a MAF can read... Generally anything above 10-12PSI of boost is maxing out a stock MAF sensor and a SD tune or larger aftermarket MAF is required, but the only way to know if it is, is to do a data log and measuring MAF in HZ to see if it is going above the maximum HZ allowed by the stock MAF... SD is also said to be more affected by drastic weather changes and elevation changes because of the set programming in the PCM required to run SD since a SD tune has know way of reading actual air intake... Thus used only for Higher horsepower and higher Boosted motors which are NOT normally driven as DD's or cross country... Some will say its fine and others say absolutley no, also you can justify it if you live in a climate that has a fairly steady climate year round unlike me where it goes from 100's in the summer to -50 below in the winter, Fortunatley I have another DD and only drive my SSS in the summer and I also run SD Tune due to pushing the limits of my stock MAF and wanting to eliminate it all together LOL... Here are a couple of reference pages I quickly found.... http://www.pcmforless.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=126:speed-density-sd-vs-mass-air-flow-maf-&catid=34:tuning&Itemid=56 http://ls1tech.com/forums/pcm-diagnostics-tuning/1195505-maf-vs-speed-density.html
  4. My DD's are a 2006 SS Impala with the 5.3l and a 2011 Yamaha Stryker in the summer. I've been known to ride my sled to work in the winter so I count it too. 1998 SRX 700 Triple full top end build including clutches.
  5. I have shorty Gibson headers on my truck. They are better than stock and but not nearly as good as long tubes... They would be great if you plan on a turbo in the furture... I want to invest in some long tubes and would sell you my Gibsons nickle plated to you if you want... Just PM me... They have a beautiful purplish blue to them now LOL...
  6. Send it to the grave and reserect it as a 408
  7. Thats a great idea LOL... Maybe I can talk to my wife and go with ya
  8. Don't just jump right into a SSS... I'd spend sometime researching for the right one... Especially if you get one from the uppermidwest as there may be some rust issues.... I pm'd you earlier but I will definatley keep a look out for a nice truck for you... I bought mine in South Carolina and have never driven it in the salt or snow so it is practically brand new underneath and inside... I keep my seats well conditioned so no tears too... It would be worth picking one up down south and driving it back. First- you get to drive a nice smooth attractive vehicle.. Second, you can get a feel for everything that could be or is wrong with it... Things to watch out for after 100Kmiles is the transmission especially if any mods have been done for power adders, and the front differential starts whinning, steering wheel clunk which is not a big deal but can be annoying... The seat tears are common but I beleive are avoidable if the person was not fat and lazy draging their ass across the seat with a big wallet and dip can and kept it conditioned.... I'll pm you if I find anything...
  9. I wouldn't be all that concerned with the stock bottom end as much as you guys are saying... These things are a beast fromt he factory... Just make sure to have a really good tune and really good fuel and a stock bottom end will get you in the low 11's without anything else done to it... If you plan on reving out past 7K rpms I'd definatley get some ARP stud and rod bolts at least but if your under that you will be good... Just be sure to go wet kit and seperate fuel tank if you want to go above 100shot so not to put to much strain on the fuel system...
  10. I got a PS4. PS4 FTW LOL... I had every system out there except Xbox one lol... I have been addicted since Atari lol... Great for when it is -30 below up here and -60 below windchill...
  11. Some guys have all the luck... LOL That is an awesome garage...
  12. Welcome bud from the town next door Grand Rapids, MN... If you have any questions feel free to look me up or PM me... I have had my SSS for 9 years now and love it as much as the first day and more now.... I only have 54K miles on mine as I only drive it in the summer on the weekends LOL... We should definatley hook up when spring rolls around... I make a couple trips to Duluth a year in the summer with the SSS to stretch her legs as my best friend lives there... Always nice to see another SSS in MN... I had -26 below last night and -18 below for a high yesterday as well... Sick of this extreme cold as you know this is a very cold winter this year... Can't even snowmobile or ice fish . But this next weekend and upcoming week look nice and back to normal in the normal teens and 20's... ... Once again feel free to look me up as I have done alot to my truck myself and have been a member here for over 6 years... I also have Hptuners Suite for your tuning needs if you want to scan or even tinker yourself with it... I'd still recommend Wheatley Zippy or BB but with the suite they could just email a tune to you instead of mailing out your PCM... Anyways welcome Grant and stay in touch.... FYI, I plan on running my truck in Duluths 1/8th mile drags next summer as well as a couple trips to BIR for some 1/4 mile times
  13. I'd rather have a last gen camaro witht he LS1 and throw a turbo on it... I know I may get bashed on this but If I were to get a sports car I'd get a 98-2001 viper GTS or RT10 and then supercharge that or turbo it and really have a fast car 450-500hp stock and add another 150hp for FI and you would have a 600+ hp car running low 12's if not high 11's with only 5-8k invested... You can get a Viper in those years relatively cheap under 30k and you don't see vipers everyday especially where I live... I maybe see one a year, MAYBE... A viper is kind of a dream car for me and I will have one one day ... But I will still always have my SSS as it only has 54k on it and I doubt it will ever see 70-80k in my lifetime the way I baby and drive it...
  14. Im liking it... I may think about adding this one day
  15. If I had that budget at one time instead of piecing my build together over 8 years I would spend 15K just like this.... TVS2300- $6500-$7000 4L80E tranny- $3000-$4000 75 shot nitrous and fuel system upgrades- $2000 Smaller pulley for 15-20PSI and 8rib kit- $1000-$1500 90mm upgrade- $500 With this you will be in low 11's in the quarter for sure if not knocking high 10's.... Stock motor can handle it just make sure the tune is spot on....
  16. ^ Agreed, price is a little high... If you had less then 50k miles I can see maybe between $18-$25K....
  17. From a dig I'd bet on your side mid12 as roots make better power out of the hole and in the 1/8th... Thats why I want to stay roots so I can get this heavy pig moving
  18. LOL Just like any new vehicles I will wait for the price to drop and get a used one... Then I would love to get a stock one and slam a TVS on it
  19. So I was surfing craiglist for snowmobiles for my wife and I and came across this link LMAO.... http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/sno/4253323749.html Miles are a bit high LMAO If the post gets deleted just scroll down LOL Dildo like xc 800 - $75 (dresser) hello. divorce forced to sell everything. 20. For the right price I'd sell mine too Mp112 2.8 pulley, J-tube converted to 90mm and less than 3k miles on it in 5 years...
  21. Sweet... I can see you kncking on 10's door with this TVS and a small pulley with new heads and your forged 370.... But if you build that 427 that you mentioned not to long ago... ohhh man .... I want nitrous too cause I think that the purging kits for them just look badass and intimidating especially with a little LED flair. I couldn't ever put a fake purge on cause it would be a disgrace to lie like that... LOL
  22. If you have any pictures on the internet that someone can download or look at they can use your pic... I saw mine on the instagram site and yours as well by the mountain range (which by the way is one of my top 3 best pics of a SSS with the bright blue sky and white mountains and gorgous blue truck...) Black is my favorite color if it can be kept clean and paint corrected as black is the worst to show any imperfections IMO... But blue is so awe inspiring, GM made that paint pop more than any other factory painted vehicle besides plum crazt purple LOL
