  1. Does anyone know the best time to contact Charlie Wheatly for a tune order? I have many many upgrades installed from cam and heads to CAI and exhaust and all in between etc... My SS will be fully complete and put together next week and I need a tune to run her and break in the cam and other internal components.. Thanks James
  2. I scored a 20% which said. a walking, talking, red-blooded hetero guy. Just way to straight for these modern times. I think those questions were rigged to make everyone gay like the lesbo question. 20% gay which for me is not straight enough. lol
  3. You should try to make it to the car craft nationals... I will try to be there... I try to take good care of my ss It has never seen a snowy winter stored and it is not my daily driver... I am always looking foward to meeting up with other brothers and sisters with a sharp SS..
  4. Thanks I still plan to go to car craft if I get the time of of work. Do you know where in minnesota someone might have a awd dyno?
  5. Come on ppl. I can't be the only SS silverado owner up here in Northern Minnesota... IF you are around here speak up and lets get together sometime..
  6. Thats cool I plan to go to car crafts this year with my SS... I am in the process of putting in a cam and custom ground heads, ported and polished as well as a few other goodies... .. I have pics of the build under the waiting lists if your interested. P.S do you know if the car craft nationals in St. Paul has a AWD dyno? I know they have two wheel drive dyno's and they will do it for like 20-50 bucks.
  7. I am just wondering if there is anyone on here from Minnesota and if there is ever any meetings. I live in Grand Rapids MN and it would real nice to start a club up here for LS cars and trucks. Thanks
  8. If you buy that high fonics amp you can probably bridge it for one high rms speaker like a 450-600rms solo barrack speaker and have plenty of power... but don't kill the amp buy having it turned all the way up... I have my amp at about three quarters to 7/8's but I have the bass nob like the high fonics amp does in the page.... If you plan on more subs or bigger subs in the future I would reccommend buying a amp like a fosgate, JL,Kenwood, etc... little more spendy but well worth it I have had my amp for three years and still is flawless.
  9. I totally agree.. I do the same thing.... I let my car speakers produce the music and turn their bass down... I only use my subs as bass only, no music, just thump... I turn my DB's up and freqs. down on the amp.. I would never turn an amp all the way up unless you want to burn it up or when it gets warm the protect will be tripped... with a 600rms sub you only need about 400-500 rms to make it hit hard... If their is not enough power to a high rms sub you might here some pinging casued by underpowering... A nicer amp is nice though because my fosgate has a independant bass nob so I can mount it up front and turn the bass up and down according to the music.. this alows me to turn my amp's power fairly high.
  10. Rockford Fosgate to the end......
  11. Ok, go to the local stereo shop and buy a vehicle specific enclosure.. (I recommend two subs with a two sub under the seat down fire...) next do a cross over behind the sub making it 2 ohms so it will draw more power from the amp... I have never been a fan of sony amps or speakers but you can work with what you got.... If you are running one sub you should bridge it into the amp... Kicker is a very good speaker I have two myself and they should handle a good amount of RMS... After you are all done I am guessing your amp has a peak rms of 450-500 and your solo speaker of about 300-350... enough power to push that sub... My final suggestion is if you only want one sub I would go with a little bigger box ported... My personal setup is a rockford fosgate 900 watt amp with two cvr kicker 10" comps in a non ported down fire encloser sounds awsome........ My amp is a little under powered but unless you want your ears to bleed it is loud enough and it still sounds clean with absolutly no distortion... still definatly loud enough to get pulled over..
  12. Here is a UPDATE. Ok I just got my heads back from being milled. After the cam we are expecting a 11.25:1 compression. The cam is ordered and is going to be a custom ground SLP with variable durations. I am in the process of polishing and porting the heads....
  13. Northern Minnesota My truck is in the shop for custom ground heads and a cam plus much more. but I should have a nice sweet sounding video of it and a 70' 454 Ls6 SS Chevelle before the june deadline....... I have a couple pics in the waiting room of the two cars under Engine build. Let me know if you are game for it........
  14. It is sweet... all original with parts and numbers matching.... engine has been built heavily.... but we still have the original valve covers and parts.... it runs in the 10's on a good day.... The torque on these big blocks are always more than the Hp's so the engine is hard on the drive train.... especially when the front picks up... We hand build and do the specs on all are rebuilds...
  15. The SuperSport Garage 03' SS Silverado with the 70' Chevelle LS6 454 estimated 650-750hp
  16. Here are some updated pics of the SS silverado engine build, plus a couple of fun pics of the 70' ChevelleJust scroll through the forum page I can only load one pic per reply.
  17. Thanks alot, I was at the shop and I spaced out on the specs. I have them written down now.
  18. I was wondering if any one could give me the stock cam specs on a 2003 ss silverado and a ls2 chevy SSR... thanks
  19. So my evaluation of the chart is that the K&N is the best overall power increase Hp and Tq. with a sacrafice to a few iat degrees. 4' degrees F is not all that much to even worry about. If K&N improves the heat soak of their piping to lower temps and use a dry filter they may have a design winner above all others... (this is only according to these dyno charts.)
  20. Since the K&N has more Hp's through its piping design and AEM is second because it has the higher filter flow (according to the dyno's posted here). My question is could you use the K&N piping and use a AEM dry filter to make the ultimate CAI for the dyno. I am also sure someone could fabricate a volant air scoop to a AEM open lid filter to K&N piping.. This could be the best of all worlds with air comming from all places including the ram air scoop pulling fresh air from the highway( unless its a hot, sunny, day in Cali where the pavement is burning hot) but up here in minnesota it is prime driving conditions in the summer averaging mid to lower seventies. Maybe someone should try running no filter for dyno purposes and see what the gains are. I am just curious. Just my two cents....
  21. That sounds pretty wicked.. I can't wait for my truck to get out of the shop... My engine is all torn down right now so with in a week or two I will have it running... I am in the waiting room on the forums here for my cam and engine build.... I will have pictures during the build and a final video when it is complete so you guys can here it too... can't wait... and once again sounds sick...
