  1. Does anyone have a set of LS cylinder heads they would like to get rid of for cheap. Casting numbers are not a concern. They just need to be a cathedral port head assembled with valves and springs.
  2. It's not very common but I wouldn't rule out head gaskets. Before you start throwing parts at it you can run down to NAPA and get a head gasket test kit. It comes with a turkey baster looking tube and you pour a blue fluid in it, remove your surge tank cap and place the tester in the hole where the cap goes and you suck a sample of the air out of the surge tank. If the tester picks up any traces of hydrocarbons (exhaust gases) in the coolant then the color of the fluid starts to change to a yellow-ish color. If the fluid color changes then you have a head gasket issue. Or you can always take it to a shop and at least have them diagnose it and just pay the diagnostic fee. It's sometimes more cost effective than wasting money on throwing part after part at it until it's fixed.
  3. You can check the fan clutch by spinning the fan with your hand (with the engine off of course). It should have a slight drag to it. If it spins and keeps spinning it's bad. Also make sure the fan is moving at a good rate of speed with the engine running. I really don't think this is your problem though. It could be a number of things from your thermostat not opening at all to a head gasket issue. How many miles you have on the truck?
  4. I'm really tossing around the idea of doing the L92 heads/intake manifold swap on my 04 SSS. I'm trying to get the cost and a parts list together for the swap. My question is can you use the LQ9 style fuel injectors in the L92 fuel rail and manifold? I have a set of 42lb LQ9 injectors that I would like to use instead of buying adapter harnesses. I've looked at both styles and the phyical size looks to be the same. Does anyone know if it can be done? Thanks, Bryan
  5. Is there anyone that knows of a company/person that ports the stock Lq9 throttle body?
  6. I hear that! I blew #8 rod out the side of the block and blew #7 out the side of the oil pan on 13psi.
  7. Kinda wondering where your IAT sensor is located vs. where the no2 nozzle is? I always like to have it in one of the back intake runners. It's the warmest part of the manifold and it's the most accurate spot for reading intake air temps.
  8. I have a few items I'm looking to sell. All prices do not include shipping. Sorry I don't have any pic yet but I will get some up soon. 1. Snow Performance Stage II boost cooler meth kit, includes factory washer bottle that is already drilled with fitting installed-$200 2. Dynatech high flow cats with flanges, 02 bungs, and pipes still attached-$145 3. Long Tru-Cool Max transmission cooler 40,000GVW 45,000BTU, brand new still in the box-$75
  9. Heet is like 99% methanol so if you mix it 50/50 with distilled water you would be just fine. The thing to watch for in washer fluid is glycol and solvents which are not good to put into your motor. Plus washer fluid only contains on average 25 to 30% methanol. The more methanol in the mixture the more resistant you are to detination. But it's usually not a good idea to go over 50% because the less water in the mixture the less heat gets wicked out of the intake air charge. 50/50 is the best of both worlds good heat absorption and resistance to detination. The way it works is it's injected into the intake stream, the water evaporates from the heat of intake air and in return cools the air leaving the meth behind so it can be sucked into the cylinders and burned acting like a high octane fuel. Depending on application you can see some gains of 50+ hp with a good tune for the meth. You won't see 50 hp if you just slap on a meth kit. The engine should really be tuned around the meth otherwise your air fuel ratio is too rich which will hurt performance. And because the intake temps drop and your adding a high octane fuel you can add a few more degrees of timing which in return gives you more power.
  10. Well without the intercooler the cheapest kit I found was just under 4k. I just needed to get it sold and not very many people were interested. But it will still be a nice chunk towards the Procharger fund
  11. Well everyone sorry it's been a few days since I've been on here to check my messages but the S/C kit is sold as of this past weekend. Thanks for the intrests if anything changes I'll let everyone know.
  12. Vortech is confusing they have like 5 different blowers and then they have different levels for each one it's hard to keep track of them all and some they don't even advertise on the webpage. But yes it is a V2 head unit. The difference is the impeller and the housing. It was a regular S-trim but I sent it out to get upgraded. Mine is one step above a regular S-trim. They upgraded the impeller and the compressor housing to flow more air. It adds another 200cfm and produces about 2 more pounds of boost with the same size pulley I was using before. They also changed all the bearings and seals while they had it apart.
  13. Ya it's still for sale 2 people said they would call but hanven't heard anything yet manybe my PM isn't working I don't know but I would like to keep in up for a little longer if I'm not getting anywhere I might consider payments. Not sure how you would want to work things if it comes down to that? I don't know if I could hand the kit over without having all the money and I'm sure you would have a hard time sending money and not getting anything until it's paid for. No offence of course I'm sure I have nothing to worry about just dont want to get screwed you know Maybe we could work something out
  14. I sent you a PM with my number the kit is complete but you need a tune once it's on and you will also need to buy a drill bit and tap to tap the oil pan
  15. Normally I would go for that but I kinda need the money right now to pay a few things off, but I'll keep it in mind for sure
  16. That's what I was worried about I know the TVS 1900 can put out more than enough boost. I really didn't want to go overkill on a stock motor. What would be the advantage of using the TVS1900 vs. the MP112 on a completely stock motor isn't that a little much?
  17. There are a few more little parts that I have to take off the truck yet including the volant cold air box, and meth kit.
  18. It's an 05' Denali. How much is the kit? How much boost will it produce on a completely stock LQ9? Does it even fit the LQ9, I thought that bower was only for L92 applications?
  19. Yup #7 rod came flying out of the block. If it wasn't for the starter it would have scattered further. But ya Vortech can upgrade your S-trim to an Si-trim and then up to a T-trim I believe. With the Si-trim upgrade you get a new impeller with a more aggressive pitch on the blades and a different housing that flows more air. I think the upgrade by itselt is like $400ish. I went with a full rebuild, new bearings, seals and the upgrade. It cost me $850. It turns the cfm up to 1200 and gave me another 2psi of boost with the same size pulley. I don't have too much info on the T-trim upgrade, but I do know that it increases the compressor housing outlet from 2.75 to 3.0 inch. I think I saw that 04Chase has a T-trim you might want to ask him. You can always call Vortech to get all the info you need. Thats what I did they were pretty helpful. I don't know if a Si-trim would support your stroker effeciently though.
  20. Ya Zippy you hit the nail on the head. He pretty much just wants something bolted on and left alone. I must admit though doing all this research has got me interested in the Radix as well. I to am kinda looking for something to just bolt on and forget about. I'm getting tired of toying with my truck. My current set up needs an intercooler and I'm just not in the mood to keep messing with it. I really miss driving it actually and after my motor just blew it's sent me through the roof! How is the tune that comes with the Radix kit? I have a few bolt-ons such as Dynatech long tubes, Corsa exhaust, Volant CAI, and Transgo shift kit. How would the tune work with these bolt ons? And do you know how much HP the Radix kit adds to the LQ9?
  21. My buddy recently asked me about supercharging his V-Max Denali. I've been doing some research for him and was wondering if anyone has drivin or ridden in a Radix truck and a centrifugal supercharged truck? Which one accellerates faster and which one makes the most power right out of the box without a custom tune just what comes with the kit? I looked on Magna Chargers web site and I'm kinda confused. It shows that a Radix 5.3 makes more horsepower and torque and a Radix 6.0 truck. It was on a 6.0 hummer I don't know if that makes a differences or not. But I can't find any numbers on the LQ9. I don't know if this is a typo or what. What is the typical gains from the Radix on the LQ9. I can't find any hard numbers on the Procharger kit either. It just says 50 to 55% increase. My truck had a vortech on it and did pretty good. I've never been in a Radix truck to compair. I know a lot of you guys run Maggie's it seems to be the more popular set up for the street. I'm trying to sell him my kit but he wants a compairison. I'm kinda interested in getting a Radix for my truck if my charger sells. So tell me what you guys think. Oh he has no other mods either.
