  1. I don't know what plan you got, but not to many warranties are going to cover dashboards, radios, etc. As for the rest of it, are they putting in a used or rebuilt? Is there something wrong with the case itself? Are they planning on just getting you a used case and stuffing it with new parts? This would be my guess. I just had mine done 2 months ago. It was all covered under my Ford extended warranty(bought truck from Ford dealer). I had a pinion bearing go bad and caused some wear on the gears. Also had a trans pump leak. It was over 4K all together. It cost me $100+the cost of the plan(I think 2K). So it worked out in the long run. I only buy used cars with extended warranties. I won't buy new anymore. You look at a 1 year old used car and the value is $10K less. You can buy an extended warranty to get you to 100K miles for $2k.
  2. From my understanding cutting them is a big NO NO. They are part of your active suspension. The other guys with drops have been cross drilling the stoppers. There is a post somewhere on how-to.
  3. Here's the whole package from SLP. Heads/cam/manifold for $2000 http://www.slponline.com/browse_list.asp What's wrong wiyh the cam you have?
  4. Most of the cats I've seen already have a bung. It's right under their tail .
  5. Was looking some more and came across cell phone ringtones and wallpaper as well. CNC'd L92 heads for $463! No, I don't work for them. Jst came across a big sale. They might be trying to clear out the wharehouse before bankruptcy.
  6. You might also want to do a search on drilling the front bump stops. Alot of guys have done this with their drop and found it to do the trick.
  7. From gmperformanceparts.com(no I don't work for them, just found a big sale): The Ls7 has 505hp for 10k The Ls3 has 430hp for 5k The Ls376/480 has 480hp for$5250 For a 5k difference I think I'd look at the Ls376. It already has the L92 heads and Hot cam. It's only 25hp off the mark of the Ls7, and I'm sure that could be "found" somewhere.
  8. My SS only has one power outlet on either side. You could always hard wire the connections if it doesn't fit right.
  9. I was just browsing the site and found some good prices on heads, cams, intake, etc. I also came across some cool wallpaper of the new Camaros (including a Dale Jr. edition), and engine shots. Look under extras for the wallpaper.
  10. FYI:LS7 crate motor is under 10k on GMPERFOMANCEPARTS.COM
  11. I'm horrible with names to begin with. When I get a fast walk through and names are rattled off, forget about it. The best thing for me was there was 3 people named Mike.
  12. No worries Zippy. It was probably a good thing it took so long. It gave me a chance to get to know everyone better and see how things work on these GTG's. It also helps with putting names to faces. The longer I was there the better the names stuck in my head. I know at the beginning I mixed up Chris and Rich a couple times(sorry guys). I already started looking at SLP's website for the head/cam/intake package ($2450). Now I gotta figure how to sneak that past the wife.
  13. Summit has a 160*. Part# SLE-100223. It is the SLP.
  14. #1 Put heads on GMC with Escalade motor. #2 Headliner in Nick's truck. #3 installed high beam conversion harness in a few trucks. #4 a couple HID kits #4 I believe at least one remote start #5 One ceiling fan repair/rewire. #6 a couple PCM tunes #7 Watched Johnny Knoxville artificially inseminate a cow. I'm sure a few other things got done. This was just in the course of a day. What time in the morning did the head job finish up?
  15. Well, is the head job done yet? Zippy tuned my motor last night. I think I actually got the tires to break loose and chirp at me by the time I got near home last night. Chris, the high beam conversion works great! Thanks alot. This was my firts GTG. Anyone who hasn't gone to one of these gatherings, I would recommend it. It's a good group of guys that will make you feel welcome. Everyone gets along and mingles with everybody. You don't feel like an outsider.
  16. Nevermind. It turns out I'm only 2 hours north after checking Mapquest. I will most likely see you guys around 4 o'clock.
  17. I live 4 hours north and was hoping to not fork out the $$$ for a hotel.
  18. Will Zippy still be there on Sunday? I have my son's B-Day party Sat. morning. I wouldn't make it until about 6pm if I came down Sat. All I need is a tune.
  19. Not all vehicles have a seperate trailer fuse or the same amperage fuse. Does your Tahoe? The resistance thing sounds very possible. Remove all the light bulbs and clean the contacts. You're dealing with a trailer that sees alot of salt and moisture. Also check all the wiring connections under the trailer. If they don't have shrink wrap on them, they corrode very easily. I see this alot on boat trailers.
  20. I have an electic dump valve on my exhaust. I have a Corsa that has a "y" pipe just before the muffler. O n the open end of the "y" is an electric butterfly valve that I can open as little or asw much as I want for the desired sound. You can get this set up at Summit for $200. You just have to section it in to your exhaust.
  21. K+n CAI, Corsa exhaust with electric cut-out, shift kit, and a tune when the truck comes back. I usually carry 500-1000lbs. in the bed and tow a boat once in a while. So my biggest ques. is, if it doesn't have an aftermarket torque conv, what should I install? What about servos? Can I do those myself or is it easier while the trans is out?
  22. Good thing I got the 2yr. powertrain warranty. Brought it in while I'm recovering from knee surgery. The Chevy dealer called and said it needs a pinion bearing in the front as well as a gear set. The trans is leaking from the front pump seal, and the Transfer case has a leak. About $4k in work. I know the previous owner did a shift kit and I think a Torq conv. How do I tell for sure about the TC? If it is stock, what should I put in(brand, stall)? I plan on keeping my mods to bolt-ons and a tune(maybe NOS). Is there anything i should have done in the transfer case or front end while they're apart?
  23. Try contacting Truckin' Mag to see if they can give you back issue info. They always have good pictorials on that kinda stuff.
  24. Try to get everything set up so the shop opens about the same time the new phone book comes out. Call the "yellow Pages" and find out when you have to set up your account to be in the next book. Give yourself a name that starts with the letter "A". Ihave a mobile boat repair business named "ACE ON THE RIVER". I'm the first person people call. Get a GOOD accountant.
