  1. I got my CDL A with air brakes and combos without ever taking a class. A buddy of mine took me out in his truck and taught me to drive in a day. After that I worked on backing up for about a week(on the job)with himin the truck and took the test. If you don't have to do trailers it's even easier. I have gotten out of more tickets since I got my CDL. The cops have pulled me over and seen my license. They'll check my record and give me a warning instead of a ticket. They have also givin me a signature bond instead of taking my license when they did ticket me. As far as the dui, if the diff between .04 and .08 is 1 drink, chances are you're over the limit anyway when you leave the restaurant after 2 drinks. If the cop is gonna be that strict, you have a problem either way. Just be more careful and have someone else drive if you're not sure. In this economy it's always better to have extra credentials on you resume. Take the chance while you have it to use their truck and get it. I don't use my CDL anymore, but I know I could go get a job in a heartbeat as a driver.
  2. That's great. I'm trying to find the time to install my new speakers and this will save me some time trying to figure out how the thing is held on.
  3. I wasn't really worried. Just trying to educate myself. After it happened I spent a 1/2 hour tryin to figure it out in my head. The physics don't make sense to me.
  4. But why would the front end spin the tires and not the rear? From what I know, the differential has a 62/38 split(or something close to that). So if the front spins roughly 1/3 slower then the rear, how can they loose traction and spin if the rears aren't?
  5. It was raining the other day and I was driving my awd sss. I had my work supplies in the bed(700-1000 pounds). I was doing about 25-30mph coming down the off ramp. When I stood on it I felt the front end loose traction. The rear didn't seem to loose traction at all. From what I understand, the rear turns faster and the front should only break loose if the rear does first. Am I missing something? I've had the front end get loose before in the rain/snow, but it was after the rear broke free.
  6. Is there an update on this yet? I think I have the same problem. I had a friend check the code and it said it was an evap problem. I checked the gas cap and it had a split o-ring. I put a new cap on and the CEL hasn't gone away yet(4 dys). Is there a way to test the vent relay or cannister so I'm not just throwing parts at it?
  7. If you're trying to cover a scent, I like to spray Fabreze on the headliner and carpet. After you destroy the bad scent you can start with something new.
  8. Do these pans look stupid with the hitch installed? I need my hitch.
  9. I undersstand..............why the LeBarron was sucha piece of crap.
  10. i could be wrong, but I thought as long as you turned either bolt the same amount it didn't matter.
  11. My favorite of all time: Why did God give women yeast infections? So they know what it's like to live with an irratating c*nt.
  12. Never use a lighter to see how much gas is in the tank of your SS.
  13. I'm glad to hear you made it back safe. Thank you for serving our country. Now that you drove it, are you still opting for the ring or going for the supercharger?
  14. How do the front door panels come off? Are they held on with "christmas trees" or do they slide up once the screws are removed? I plan to put new speakers in this week.
  15. I was on a forum site for my wife's G8 GT and found that they had a "Product Review" section. I think this would be a great idea for SSS.com. It would save alot of time and duplicate questions on all the products out there for our trucks. What does everyone think? Do the admins think this is something we can do? http://forum.grrrr8.net/forumdisplay.php?f=75
  16. I have a JVC double din with the bass up and the "loud" option on I get decent sound. It's not a boomin system by any means. The only way to get that is a rear underseat sub and external amp.
  17. You'd have to sand it smooth, prime it, and wet sand it.
  18. They aren't really made to blow you away. There made more for sound quality. You'll notice they stop increasing in volume after about 3/4 of the knob. The head unit isn't that great either. I replaced mine and it made a big diff. I just got some new JL speakers in the mail yesterday and hope to have them in over the weekend.
  19. Scuff it with a 3M pad. Clean it real good with acetone. Paint with Krylon Fusion paint(made for plastic). I did this on mine and have had NO problems.
  20. I'd like to know if anything else needs to be purchased to make this work besides a possible TB or adapter. Do you need new fuel rails or have to modify anything? At least it sounds like you don't have to modify the accessory brackets. The price sounds high, but if it is a true "bolt on" without the extra expenses and time modding half the motor, it might be worth it. Even then I'd have to see some dyno #'s before I spend that much on one upgrade.I'm looking to spend that much on headers and efans which will probably be worth more power then that intake.
  21. For those that like to run at the track or are concerned about mileage, here's a little info. I was looking at the Centerline wheels for our trucks on their web site. I noticed that with every jump in size (16-18, 18-20) ther was a 2-3 pound jump in weight. Until you get to the jump from 20"-22". It then jumps 9-10 ponds per wheel. I would assume this goes for other brands as well, but it's something to think about before deciding on new rims. 10 pounds may not seem like alot, but if you consider that's 40 pounds toal for all four. I don't know the math to figure out the "rolling mass", but i'm sure that's gonna kill mileage as well as track times. http://centerlinewheels.com/wheel_deals_list.php
  22. I'm getting totoally off topic here, but I was looking at that centerline website. I looked at a bunch of different styles and noticed there is only a 2-3 pound difference in each size step of wheel (16 to 18, 18 to 20) until you get to the 20" to 22" step it jumps 9-10 pounds per wheel. There's a little lesson for those "Rollin' 22's" at the track.
  23. Of course we all shop there. It's the only place I could find curb feelers and dingle berries for my SSS. The first time I looked at this, I didn't realize there was more than one per page. Make sure you page down on each page to see all of them. A couple of these actually had me in tears from laughing. Especially the the lady dressed as the mascot (see thru yellow dress with smiley face undies).
