  1. i would PM tony(NORCAL SS) with any questions you have. he deals with lowering theese trucks all the time. gary
  2. i agree. 295/45-20. the 275/45 will be to short without a drop. id say this tire is a happy medium. good luck. gary
  3. im not sure on if they interchange. but i would measure yours and try to google the length of the others to save you a trip. im sure a 4x4 and the AWD are very close in size if not the same. good luck. gary
  4. i wonder if all years of the sss came with the fog light wiring already? it would make the install that much easier. gary
  5. as far as track setup, i know the more sidewall there is to flex the better. but would there be a noticeable difference between factory-ish sized 20's and same overall size 22's? like a 295/45-20 vs. 285/35-22 or 305/40-22 bfg kdw II's? cause i'd like to run the bfg's on the 22's and put a more winter specific tire on the 20's. but if the 20" wheels will get better traction i'd put the bfg's on them in the summer . thanks gary
  6. the rear suspension is standard silverado stuff. Air ride technologies, KP Components, Thorbecke Brothers all make great parts. but the front being AWD is going to be completely custom. not going to be cheap unless you can build it yourself. as far as the turbo. there are a few companies that make kits for the trucks. http://www.nelsonperformance.com/ http://www.trickperformanceproducts.com/home.htm along with KB Racing but i dont think he has a website. Not sure where you are located. I'm sure someone can recommend a shop near by. Good luck and welcome to the forum! gary
  7. anything new with the truck chase?
  8. WOW that thing is horrible. the interior only has one SS badge on the dash and not in the headrests. that is the worst hack job ive seen in awhile. poor poor truck. some people have the worst taste when it comes to customizing vehicles. i feel sorry for who ever buys it. gary
  9. if you wanted to drive to topeka i could point you in the right direction. im sure the KC guys will chime in with a few shops. welcome to the forum. good luck gary
  10. never seen it before. but it looks pretty good.
  11. thats good to hear. i read some stuff zippy wrote about the comp cams XER273HR. i think it would be a good beginer cam. good power output and nice daily manners. whats your take on that cam? most likely with a circle-d 3200 stall. sounds like my ideas are turning into more of a list atleast ill have something to work towards now. thanks for your input shadow. i always like to get other opinions on stuff before i dive in head first. gary
  12. i agree i cant remember the last time i actually took the s10 out for a drive. i think i enjoy working on it more than driving it! is that wierd?
  13. the wife drives a 05 tahoe LT. My never ending project is a 91 S-10. started as a 4cyl/5spd. then got a 350sbc/700r4, then full roller 355. now its going under the knife again for a 6.0/th350 combo. coming up on 10 years since i got it. i dont even want to think of how much ive put into it over the years the wife would kill me if she knew that number. later gary
  14. dont get me wrong i would love to get some ported heads. im more looking at starting small and having room to grow. i agree the MS3 cam is pretty wicked. i would probably not start with that cam. the truck is still my DD so that cam and the required stall i think would kill the mpg's. ill probably try a cam similar to that in my s10. just to be on the safe side a smaller cam and stall will work for now. how bad would my mpg's take a hit with a little smaller cam and a 2800-3000 stall? im trying to find a happy medium. decent power but still maintain the current crappy mpg's .
  15. any muffler with a straight thru design will not "rob" hp. so magnaflow always get my choice. i love the sound of flowmasters on a cammed big block. but ill stick with my magna's on the SSS. gary
  16. i agree with everything you said. all of it is plannned in the future. why do you say to keep the truck intake? wouldnt any opportunity for a larger intake and throttle body be good? especially since they are alot cheaper than going to a fast setup. i guess what im asking is wouldnt the 243/799 heads and TBSS/NNBS intake be a good base to start with for future mods? staying N/A of coarse. i see alot of ls2 based vehicles with stock heads and intake putting down strong numbers so i figured a similar setup would be good for starters. i know ported ls6's would be best but i'm looking at doing it in stages. just swapping to some stock casting with a nice cam. then later sending them to TEA or WCCH. For right now id be happy with stock ls2 numbers. of coarse leaving me room to grow when its not enough I read somewhere a TBSS with just a CAI, Tune, and TSP's MS3 cam gained over 60rwhp. i know a custom spec'd cam is alwyas the best choice. this is just the kind of numbers i saw and liked. thanks gary
  17. are there any fitment issues with the tbss intake only coming with a 87mm tb and the cars using a 90mm? would the throat of the intake need to be ported for it to work? or is it just straight bolt on? thanks gary
  18. I have been looking at future upgrades for the truck and was doing research on the TBSS intake swap. When I realized the small difference between our motor and theirs. so correct me if im wrong. if you swap heads, intake assy, and cam we would essentially have an iron block LS2? or LS6 without the light weight valves. so i guess my question is if you could score some new or used heads for $500-600, TBSS intake for $200-250, and swap in an aftermarket cam it would be the same output as a cammed LS2? what are your guys thoughts on this. i figured depending on cam choice with headers and other supporting mods it should be around 450hp at the crank. does this sound like a decent plan? i realize there are a million ways to mod these truck. just looking at getting my feet wet before i do a full out build. lets hear it guys. gary
  19. nice job mike. truck looks good. maybe when i get home i can get mine into some shows with you.
  20. http://jdfabrication.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=36&Itemid=63 has anyone seen this before? im not interested in doing it. i just thought it was cool. Do you think its an actual SSS? gary
  21. sounds like a fun project. better start picking up cladding soon. sometimes the peices can be hard to track down. welcome to the forum. gary
  22. i dont think i know anyone who got a fair deal on a trade-in. it must be against the law . gary
  23. 88,xxx and plan on driving her everyday for quite awhile. my last truck 00' silverado had 158,xxx when i sold it. only thing replaced was power steering pump, and knock sensors. gary
