i am a gm tech. no refrgerant will come out. i've replaced prob a hundred of these switches.
-
put some moth balls under your fuse block. the little suckers hang out in there and chew the sheathing off the wiring. for some reason gm used wiring where the sheathing has peanut oil extract in it and rodents cant get enough of the stuff. it'll save you some major problems in the future.

you guys that need your a/c cycling switch replaced, you DO NOT need to discharge the a/c to replace this switch. just unscrew it, theres a shcrader valve behind it to prevent the a/c charge from blowing out.

have the dealer check the software calibration on the driver and passenger door modules, could need updating. use bulletin# 07-08-64-022A as a reference. 9 times outa 10 these intermitant minor problems are the result of outdated software. good luck

i appreciate the offer bro!

Guaging Interest - New Product
benjaminh2 replied to misterp's topic in AWD, Differential, & Transmission Tech
perma cooler stuff is available through jegs/summit, they also have wiring kits and thermistors for a clean install, its not crazy expensive, but cheaper than fried trannys in the long run. -

i've been working on a perma cooler setup for my truck (part# 12315, it comes with 10" pusher fan and automatic thermistor switch) but it needs to be mounted sideways to get the best fit. i was planning on using compression unions as i HATE barbed fittings and hoses. i've already fabed up adaptors so i can retain factory quick connect connections. i eagerly await pics of your setup -

that means 1 of 3 things, either the pcm is no good (highly unlikely), a serial data prob (also unlikely) or theres a pwr. ground prob at the pcm. i'll attach a schematic for pcm pwr/grnd. half of the pcm pwr circuts pwr up off the ignition switch...
-
see if its setting any codes too... just curious
-
thanks for clearing that up rausche.

i agree 100% on doing the manual theft relearn fireman31, what i'm unclear on is the base pcm program, do the tuners put that in? every pcm i've ever installed comes "blank" and needs a base program installed first. however i've never installed a mail order tuned pcm...

here are a couple ignition switch diagrams for your truck. any time a new pcm is installed it must be programed to your vin., and a theft relearn procedure must be performed. to my knowlege, this has to be done at a gm dealership, using gm programing software. we get vehicles towed in all the time that independant garages put pcms in and now the vehicle wont crank over untill we program it. there is a manual relearn procedure for the theft system, but not the pcm.
