  1. sears is a good deal, I work there part time doin tires, batteries, etc. They shouldnt scratch or ding up your rims either, if they do then you got their nuts in a vise.
  2. welcome, got family over there in newport news and gloucester, brother in law is stationed at langley.
  3. ah, they're probly just tryin to cook up some meth or somethin under their hood
  4. that would look pretty damn suspicious under the hood... Wouldnt recommend anyone going on/off military bases to use this lol. Get popped for a random car inspection, they see that, you're on the ground instantly
  5. eh, that seems kinda sketchy, kinda like when STS first came out. Just like you said, I'll wait for someone else to be the guinea pig. I'll agree on the "you get what you pay for". Kbracing's kit is on the top of my list right now, like I said the turbo it comes with (master power) is damn good AND he includes the intercooler+piping.
  6. there's ways of lowerin temps anyways, get yourself a good aftermarket hood for one. And if you go with a turbo, heat wrap or HPC the components like the hot side housing, downpipe, hot side piping, exhaust manifold, etc. That'll help with temps under the hood dunno if you saw this yet, kbracing96 on ptrucks.net came out with his kit, not badly priced at all and comes with a better turbo than the trickperformance kit comes with. http://www.performancetrucks.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=426570
  7. he's using haltech for tuning, said he might have burnt them by having em on the wrong power setting.
  8. OOPS, accidentally double posted
  9. this is for a friend using 8 6.0 coils as a direct fire setup on his bmw over in japan. he's not sure if he burned them up or not and was wondering if there was a way to test them with a meter and if so what readings should he get.
  10. also interested in hearing about these guys, hell they give a 5% military discount! And their level 3 4l65e has free shipping
  11. I imagine they'd keep em separated, although that's not too bad of an idea
  12. it definately wouldnt hurt to put one on, on both of my old cars (turbo) I ran a catch can.
  13. http://speed-eng.com/store/4l80e-conversio...nge-p-8305.html that should have all you need, dunno about the pcm part of the swap though. You pretty much have to get a full standalone unit for the transmission right? or can it be tuned into your original pcm?
  14. me too sometimes, when I was lookin for a truck it was freakin impossible to find one in my area. I did find one but the dealership wanted 10g's over blue book value... it's still sittin at that lot...
  15. ahhh, guess I'll fab somethin up, thanks guys
  16. true, but it'd be somethin different. And yeah I could do a dmax also, but have heard of better numbers pulled out of a cummins. The possibility of me actually doin this would be pretty slim to none, but was just wantin to know opinions. I guess the only tricky part would be figurin out how to keep the AWD, for me it'd be tricky anyways...
  17. Well, I originally wanted to get into diesel, and then I found my SSS. And as I contemplate every day on what exact setup I wanna go with, I got this bright idea, and googled it.... http://cumminsswap.com/projects.html He did it into an escalade, pretty much same as a swap would go into the ss right? Any thoughts or ideas on this motor swap? Cant beat up to 900hp on a stock bottom end...
  18. what's the advantage of having the top cover on?
  19. alright, went to take a first look at my filter on my volant CAI which came on the truck when I bought it, it has the top cover on it. So I unscrewed the top (well, one of them little bastards is seized in there), and looked down and the "ram" air thing isnt there, so all I had was a 3-4 inch hole in the bottom of the filter box and that's all that was feeding it air. So I left the top cover off for the 8 hour drive back to ohio and the truck has a little more kick to it and I gained .5 MPG. Question is though, should i just leave it as is or should I fab up a "ram air" system from the bottom front of the bumper and put the top back on? Was kinda nice finding that little hidden power though, because it wasnt giving me anymore air than a stock intake would have...
  20. I'm leaving tomorrow morning to go back to ohio, but right now I'm in gloucester, Virginia, not too far from you, and I saw a red SSS sittin at a local dealership. When I say local dealership I mean mom and pop dealership. I'll see if I can get any info on it tomorrow before I head out. Edit: tried lookin for it on my way back, couldnt find the damn place again...
  21. better yet, match him up against brock lesnar
  22. even if I know it's gonna rain I'll still wash it, cant stand the dirt waterspots after it rains... Then all I'll have to do after it's done raining is take it down to a local car wash and spray it off real quick
