  1. I would still put in higher octane fuel to track down real/false KR.
  2. IMO, the price difference in just headers by themselves, the Pacesetters would win out. I have seen and helped finish a Dynatech header system install and was not too impressed. I have had the ASMs on my truck before and would buy them over the Dynatechs. Quality of fit and finish is better. Personally, I thought going with the Pacesetters was slightly risky, but they have been put on f-bodies for years now. I think the reason they are cheaper is the fact that they don't try to gouge you because you have a LSx motor like every other manufacturer out there. If you'll notice...everything that has the LSx tag to it is nearly double. The price on the Pacetter headers is on par with other maunfacturers out there if you remove the LSx tag.
  3. It would help to know yr/make of what vehicle you are referring to.
  4. Do you still have all of the tq mgt in your tune? I believe the only confirmed difference for the 70 was a hardened input shaft. Do you have a larger cooler, better fluid? If I built my motor, then next in line would be the tranny. You really didn't expect the tranny to last that long with extra power and time at the track did you? I would get a built 80 and do the swap. It will be the only way to get anywhere close to "bulletproof". Sorry for your luck.
  5. The pace setters are the same for the 4.8/5.3/6.0. The only difference is they have a y pipe for the 4.8/5.3 to bolt up to the stock exhaust, I dont think they have one for the 6.0 yet. The ebay site is were i got mine and wass completely happy with the service and they came in quicker than they said they would <{POST_SNAPBACK}> so can i get them cheaper without the Y-pipe?... is that even an option? maybe i'll call pacesetter and find out <{POST_SNAPBACK}> For those motors that they offer the y-pipe, it does not come with the headers. You still need to purchase it separately. The off-road pipe would have been available for the SS, but I think PS gave up on finding a donor truck.
  6. The cable is custom made - not a LS1 edit cable. It was however, the only way you could write to the PCM using LS1 edit. How you push it shouldn't make any diff as long as it is touching the same PCM. You would use the same cable, but where it connects to the ALDL, it would have a connector that goes straight to the PCM, with separate power hookups that go directly to the battery. I'd have to look at it, but at least 95% sure it would work.
  7. FMS? Yeah, about a thousand on LS1tech have dealt with him. He is one of the most, if not THE most, knowledgable guy for the LS1 motor.
  8. I've never been asked to see under my hood.
  9. The lph cams are proven performers. I'm more for the custom type as per your goals, habits, needs of your truck. I would go to futral motorsports to get Allan Futral's rec.
  10. Sorry for the geek-speak; OS means "Operating System", or the actual computer program that is running on the PCM (versus the data tables on the PCM, which can be read/altered by a tuner). Well that does sound like the way to go - so assuming one reflashes their PCM to support 2-bar mapping, is there a MAF on the market large enough to support that? Or are we talking SD-only above 1-bar? Mr. P. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Running a 2bar in a 1 bar OS may net you slightly lower resolution, but the PCM interpolates the values and you're still able to have fairly accurate fueling. I'm still running a 1 bar OS, and have been doing this for almost a year because I don't think I could upgrade to a 2bar. My data bus is screwed up somehow and my re-flashes crash every couple of times and will only work on the low speed setting... If you fail a full OS reflash early on, the PCM is toast. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hmmm. I don't think that's true with EFI Justin -- it recovers IIR. You can do the 2 bar map in a 1 bar os if you can tweak the MAP scaler, but the difference between doing so and a 2 bar OS is night and day. My experience only applies to EFI Live Custom OS -- I left HPT back when they couldn't support 2 bar tuning for our trucks and didn't know when they would. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If it bombs in the first 15k of a full reflash, the PCM is toast... It's a small window, but when I do a PCM read on it, it will hang no less than two times. I'm afraid that I'd erase the flash mem, then never be able to fully re-flash the custom OS. I'll bet I could get it working if I electrically isolate the PCM, just haven't gotten around to it yet. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have an old LS1 edit cable that may allow you to do just that - should work. LS1 edit never used the ALDL connector. You hooked straight to the PCM. I just moved my household, so it would take a little while to find it, but I should be able to if you're interested.
  11. EFILive offers just a scanning program - you do not have to upgrade to tuning if you don't want to. It is one of the best scanners/loggers on the market - period. Does HPT have it's own version of just the scanning/logging side of the software suite? If they do, then I would look at either version to do what you want to do. Bottom line, if you get something that is "cool" to you, you may not be helping your tuner as well as you think. It is within $75 of what you have posted to get the EFILive scan/log than what you have posted. I am sure that the tuner you choose will have either suite, therefore using the same program they use will allow for easier read of your logs and allow them ease in reading your logs vs looking at excel files. If you have seen either views of the logged files, which I know you have, then you know what I mean.
  12. Doesn't Thunder sell some? Finally get that item I sent you?
  13. Go with the LC-1. I haven't installed mine yet, but it looks like the better way to go, although a LM-1 would cover the same purpose.

    Gauges

Go to the innovatemotorsports website and check out a LC-1. Get the one with the AFR gauge.

    HP Gains

Save your money on the Corsa and just change the muffler. Corsa is nice and all, but will not change hp that much - just from the difference in the pipes - assuming a change to just the muffler over stock.
  16. Looking at a log in Excel is very primitive to say the least. Unless that person can manipulate it well enough to get it line-graphed. You're better off just buying the logging suites of the two main software loads out there. You can always upgrade to tune option later - at least EFILive offers this. To continue banging around for the cheapest option will cost you more in the long run. Your money.
  17. Glad to hear they treat you as good as EFILive.
  18. hey are you running the "Y" pipe as well..? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There is not a y-pipe for a SS. And the OR-pipes have never been created.
