  1. Quoted from MrP from another topic... So short answer - the LQ9 pushrods are cheap, the LQ9 valvesprings are cheap, the LQ9 retainers/locks are cheap; focus your valvetrain improvements in those areas, then increase the shiftpoints in your tune and get RPM to work for you. I've got a problem and it might be valves floating, here's what's going on... it only does it from around 5000 rpm on until shift change to 3rd (right around 80 mph). It does not do it from 1st to 2nd. #1 cyl, multiple misfires (yes it's very noticable, both audibly and seat of pants). Swapped B1S1 and B2S1 and still #1. I did a back pressure check and the cats are fine, new TR6's @ .035, new wires, swapped #1 and 3 plug and wire, still misfire on #1. Swapped in a new coil... no change. As a last resort I changed the valve springs on #1 today and still misfiring. I haven't done a misfire count yet, but it's either still #1 or another cylinder is doing it now (my $ is on #1 tho). Ok, the springs on my heads have a yellow line on them and the springs I got today to replace #1's have a pink stripe part # 12589774. I guess what I'm asking is should I just replace all the springs with that part # (or should I use different ones) and get hardened pushrods (and does anyone know the part # for them). I have the stock cam and a Powerdyne at 7 lbs boost. I'm running out of ideas here and need help, anyone feel free to chime in.
  2. Just waiting for my relay box... should be here soon

  3. Air Force jets keep flyin' by practicing for an air show. Most ppl would complain of the noise... not me. They go right over my house, frickin awesome.

Welcome to my life, I love working for the Air Force. I used to be stationed at Pensacola NAS in Florida and the Blue Angels are stationed there and it was cool doing morning PT with them doing aerial stunts above our heads.

  4. "777" Dynamat is pretty much for quieting vibrations, right? I don't have any vibrations. I just wasn't sure if anything I could put under where the actual speakers are (and above/on top of the carpet) would help sound quality. It sounds great... I was just curious and I know there are people that know way more than me. Paul, This is by far the best system I've ever had in any vehicle I've owned. And no doubt, some of you have stuff to put mine to shame. You stating that bass sound is non-directional helps a lot, but the distance to the floor beneath the subs is like 3-4", so would giving the sound waves something to 'bounce or reflect' off of help distribute the bass any better. It seems that plain and simply put... no. If this makes no sense, sorry, just running out of stuff to do to her, and it'd be cheap to do too:chevy: . Thanks guys!
  5. I'm just wondering if I should have something to redirect sound to the interior under my under seat box, like anything other than the carpet and insulation under that. I'm pretty sure that it may help the quality of sound, but looking for input too. Thanks,
  6. Yeah, I'm prolly in for a hoodie and a couple T's. My hoodies are looking pretty sad these days from the last batch...
  7. Hey just a thought, won't having different diameter tires from front to rear confuse the ABS system? I think it matters. I love that color choice, they go well together.
  8. ^^^ +1 ^^^ i FOUND PLENTY OF sss RELATED THINGS ON fACEBOOK, BUT NOTHING RELATED TO THIS SITE OR OUR DEFINITION OF sss. Oops, sry for the reverse caps Interested in one, but gotta see one first.
  9. Mine came with a FMU (Fuel Managemant Unit) and it does not require the injectors to be changed, but I have since went with an in tank 255 Walbro and 42lb Delphis, and custom tune. If you've got the FMU, it's probrably to the left of the brake boost and mounted with the hood to firewall ground strap.
  10. Well had to get the powerdyne rebuilt... AGAIN. 928 tried their damnedest to ruin it, but JBP has it good to go.

  11. In and paid for 4. Thanks man, they look awesome! I got mine yesterday already!!! Thanks; very nice.
  12. lol, just kiddin man, can't wait for this to happen. Appreciate you including us all in these...
  13. Yeah thanks, the "blues" will most likely go into my next ride tho So long story short, I will not sell any mods I remove, depending on what the next one has in her upon purchase. I'll be sure to post things here first that I sell if it comes to that tho... membership has its priviliges. I've got work to do just to get her sellable. So it'll have a new Delphi or AC Delco fuel pump too.
  14. I'm looking to go back to RCSB set up, it's been fun but time to move on to another project... '03 AWD BTW
  15. I was JUST thinking about this and wala... here it is 2nd on the list of topics. Ok, no-go on pulling the front shaft... damn it! I do still wish I could do a nice smokey burn out ( ) every once in a while tho. I would love to have this engine in a rcsb set up and OPTIONAL 4WD!!! Like the '01 flare side I sold to my stepson and is basically a POS now. The bed is plastic on them, lite and quick truck especially w/ the Powerdyne on her. K, I'm done bitchin... sorry 'bout that Hey anyone wanna buy an SSS? Some mods will stay on but surely now the blower... besides it's begining to be more of a pita than its worth... Not trying to thread jack... sry but my adult ADHD took over
  16. Excellent stillwater... that's where I was goin'. Until you do that, I suggest that you pull the ABS fuse, then the ABS can't falsly activate at low speeds. G/L
  17. Eh, with FI it's hard to tell if people are racing or not. It's fun messin w/ them though. I wonder how many of them tell their friends they got smoked by a truck.
  18. Very nice... in for 3. So what color combinations are there? The one listed in first post matches mine for me, but just wondering. When do we pay, probably Paypal (?)... how much for the 3 shipped?
  19. Testing the new TR6's and all those cops are not a good mix...lucky; and radar detector :)

TR6 plugs are a must as far as I'm concerned for FI. I've had the platinums in for 3 trucks... finally got new ones, and not platinums.

  20. Blown again... nice, but a little affraid to stab the throttle... 50+ miles on it so far...

  21. So, long story short, bearings were starting to make noise and a noticable vibration. I got a bearing and belt kit online and went to put them in and noticed they were made in Korea. I decided to go to Napa and croos the #'s and I put them in... well they sounded like crap from the get-go. They did no damage to the blower tho. I then decided to go ahead and put in the Korea ones. Well, around 7 miles on it and very noisy. Took out the blower and apart and the impeller shaft bearings failed... badly! So now the impeller rotor is shot and the impeller rubbed the housing so now the housing and impeller and shaft will be junk. WTF! I just boxed it up and sent it to 928 M*torsp*rts (decided not to name drop incase they help me out). We'll see what happens I guess. I'm even questioning putting the Powerdyne back in... I'd love to be able to match what she had, but I don't want to lose my ok MPG cuz if I stay out of the go pedal I can get btwn 8-14 mpg. I've done soooo much to this truck (IMHO) and I kinda consider it close to stock output without the blower. I don't know why I'm here, maybe cuz I'm at wits end and ready to frickin lose it, there's more to this, but enuf for now. Comments, suggestions... but I'm not made of $$$, I'd love to go to a Maggie or something, but prolly can't. Thanks guys and gals and i HOPE you're having better luck than me. Oh yeah, all this crap started on Friday 13th!!!
  22. Thanks a lot 928 Motorsports, now my Powerdyne is a paper weight. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!!
