  1. I'm not going to do the isolator, due to a bunch of research (voltage drop and just more crap to fail)... just the PAC-200, battery, cables and a jump switch in the cab for in-cab jumping the truck if needed. Not really that big of a system at all. But I recently went to 145 amp alt cause elec fans soon and my battery died (didn't notice battery probs and had to replace) just from the alarm, gps stuff, tunes... I'd rather spend a few bucks and go dual battery then ever have to walk away from an unprotected truck. It prolly is overkill, but that's ok. Thanks and appreciate the info.
  2. Wow, I didn't even think about checking out the GM full size or Caddy stuff, thanks! ...and for the part numbers, that helps a lot, was close to getting the kit from Summit, it's fully automatic... nice to see I've got even more options now.
  3. Wow man that sucks, glad to see you survived, the cab seems to have taken the roll safely for the driver.
  4. Yeah, looks good, but two things... can ya paint the chrome part and you shouldn't have painted the license plate, that's a ticket waiting to happen
  5. Damn snow! I'll stop whining Matt*

  6. No, I wish it were that easy. It'd be done if it were. There's a couple/few different ways it can be done. It would be too much to ask of the (upgraded to) 145 amp alternator to charge both batteries at the same time, so there's a device that can automatically charge each indivually at different driving conditions (more like different key positions). I don't remember what it's called. I may not even be right and that's ok too, like I said, I'm still learning. You got plans for a 6.0 swap? May push the limits of the AWD tho .
  7. Well, I hope you're having luck man, but have you tried Craigslist? I sincerely compliment you on your maturity and (maybe) fighting the urge to... well enuf said. Everyone else has done a great job in the face of ignorance.
  8. I'm just seeing if anyone has a good connection to this stuff or if anyone is selling their truck and doesn't want to "give" the set up away when they sell. I'm getting more familiar with what I'm gonna need each day, I'll start with the battery tray on the right side (but I do need everything). Any help/hook up would be appreciated.
  9. Yeah, no doubt... alarm, remote start, gps tracker, but not getting rid of any of that of course. I plan on doing a (2nd) deep cycle battery and maybe I'll be able to use the system for a drive in movie with the wife next year. Sh*t, that reminds me, I was gonne hit the dealer and check the set up for doing the 2nd battery too, oh well... tomorrow. I do need to do a draw test tho and make sure nothing else is contributing to this.
  10. Ok, I just got done putting in a D244 and all is good this time around. Took back the 'Worldwide' and got a Delco Remy and everything went as the first one should've. Woulda been nice to have the 160 amp alt in there, but didn't want to wait and have more dead battery issues. I'm just gonna run the truck a few minutes on days I don't go anywhere... may not be a full output charge but it'll do.
  11. Can anyone tell me how to do this? I know there's actually only 3 of the 4 wires that get used, but I'm trying to go to a 2 pin alt so I can use the Police package 05 Tahoe (160 amp). Does one wire not get used or a resistor put inline? The pic won't copy from Alldata (legal crap)... 4 pins; A,B,C,D A- engine on signal B-charge Indicator Control. C- Generator Field Duty Cycle Signal. D- not used. I've already gone to a 145 amp alt and got "Battery Not Charging" and ended up putting the 105 back on. It was a 4 pin and don't get why I got that message (confused the BCM?). I REALLY don't want to have the stealership flash my baby again, they SUCK! My truck is an 03 & 105 amp... not enuf. Thanks.
  12. Nice ride, man that's a lot of truck for a v6. Welcome to the site and yeah, go for the 6.0, 4L65 etc... In no time you'll know everything you need to do to be completely satisfied with that gem
  13. Well I did the 145A alt so I'll be ok for the Torrents in December and I got the dreaded and hard to diasgnose ^^^ displayed in the info center (yes I cleared the message with the reset button as per the owners manual, but the battery light still blinked). What an absolute pain in the a**. I also did the "big 3" so I thought maybe I did something wrong... nope, so cool, kinda. Well I finally decided to hook up the Programmer and look for something Alt related and low and behold there it is "Generator F-Post terminal Duty Cycle"... it was reading zero with no fluctuations; yeah right. Soooo tonight I decided to say efit and put the stock 105A alt back in and whammo... good to go. But then I tracked the duty cycle again and even without the fans and just my amp (and it's nothing major) with the volume up around 3/4 and running the engine around 1-1.5k rpm, it still maxed out the duty cycle. So now I gotta wait until like Monday and just prolly get my money back for the alt and get another one somewhere. It is/was a delphi unit remaned, so who knows what the prob is . Well come to think of it, it DID charge the battery, but prolly at full amperage all the time and it's not supposed to. I really hope this helps someone and they don't have to freeze their ace off trouble shooting like I did. Ok, bye PS, amp fuse is pulled and I plan on the 145A alt and a 2nd battery, due to all the crap I got on her. Remote start etc... I had to replace the battery today, just a 770 CCA like Exide or something.
  14. well, you're right... I DO want that one. I wouldn't trust ANY company to ship the beaut and it would be crazy expensive anyways Hell, I wouldn't even have to paint... G/L and have a kleenex ready for when you do sell it, I know I'd need it.
  15. I'm gonna say head gasket, cuz if it were a puddle leaving leak (sorry for the technical term ), well there wld be a puddle if you're adding every few days. g/l with the diagnosis and getting her fixed
  16. FYI... on this link it says they are not for use in California .http://www.planetmagnaflow.com/shop/magnaflow-59959-690.html
  17. I really do love these cars and wish I could get this one, good luck with the sale and free bump for ya.
  18. http://www.dieseldoctor.com/messageboard/data/229.html Won't copy and paste the whole thing, but here's the link.
  19. Yeah I stopped by and he had it torn apart. Pitting on the rollers of the carrier brngs and he said lots of metallics in the fluid. Lots getting done to that ass'y. Didn't want it to let go in the middle of winter which I'm sure that's exactly what would've happened. Also got the tranny filter done and DEX VI and the xfer case fluid changed too Hopefully I'll never know what I've avoided...
  20. g/l man, don't let that sh*thole change you too much... ya know like come back and want a Ford or something
  21. Hey silverado_ss_04, that's pretty much the same set up I'm going with (how come you didn't go vac/boost with that one... won't that affect the accuracy over time with it pulling against the 0 stop?). I've got the WB and Boost gauge done and still need to hook up the fuel P gauge. Also, how long of a line did you run for the fuel P line... I got 6' and not long enuf. I'm thinking of running brakeline with bends from the DS to the PS near the firewall and then hook the braided line to it . What's the left one in the upper storage bin for? hotteless, I mos def recommend you go this route... looks great and I used Dupli color, vinyl/fabric paint and a satin clear finish to protect the paint but not make it too shiny in order to make it blend better.Make sure you get the pillar one with the Bose tweeter if your audio is set up that way. I got the 3 pod pillar, fuel gauge and 6' (not long enuf) braided fuel line all shipped for $161.00 from some dude on Ebay. Good luck with whatever you decide on.
  22. Nice, but SSS for me still . Sometimes I do wish I just kept my 03 RCSB 4x4 Silverado and made a clone of it and 6.0'd it. Damn hindsight!
  23. Yeah she is starting to get a little noisy and I don't want her failing during the cold Upstate, NY winter . A buddy of mine has his own shop finally and it'll be right around $700.00 parts and labor. I don't think that's bad and I trust his abilities. I'm also having him do a DEX VI flush and fill and yes with GM DEX VI. Only on the tranny as I've heard doing it to the x-fer case is not needed/recommended for reasons I don't recall. The front P/S wheel bearing is putting out a slight moan too, I'll prolly take care of that one myself tho . Oh and I made sure to tell him it has to stay inside his shop the whole time I'm w/o my truck.
  24. First of all, I REALLY hope you get your truck back. Even if you don't find out who it was cuz that'll just land you in a cell. ...and welcome to the site, I just wish it was under better circumstances.
