Those are both good looking products. I had seen the gate assist before and thought it was a great idea. Does it work pretty good? Can you just let the gate go, or do you still need to help it drop? I'd never seen the gate protector before. Looks like another good idea. It is getting mighty slow around here. 1Bad is right we need to petition GM about bringing back the SS and saving our site.

The 100K stigma is based on the fact that not too long ago a Detroit made vehicle was toast after 100K. (OK; "Not too long ago" depends on your perspective.) It's no longer the case but the stigma remains. So, 100,000 is too many miles when your trying to sell. My truck is within a few thousand of hitting the mark and I am bummed about it even though it is in good shape and I am not looking to sell. Old thoughts and myths die hard.

When I am in this situation I start asking myself, "How many monthly payments would it take to get the vehicle I own in good shape"? It is usually WAY fewer monthly payments than buying a new truck. Coarse you still wind up with an old truck.

Sorry that it didn't work out for you. Keep on looking. Don't be misled by the 5 year production. If your looking at an 03 your looking at a full option truck. Later years, not so much.
