  1. weather was bad but still ran the TBSS a few times. temp was around 85 with 86% humidity.

scompletely stock trait off the interstate with the engine temps in the 220 range

15.21@91 with a 2.39 60ft found out that i didn't get 93 when it was filled up last because it got some knock

I put a quick tune on it while waiting in the staging lanes not letting it cool any

14.6@95 with a 2.29 60ft. still had alot of knock

went and put 3 gallon of 104 in it to bring up the octane in the half tank and let it cool for a hour or so and changed the tuning some

    14.3@97 with a 2.23 60ft

i thought it did pretty good to be completely stock with the crappy weather. in decent weather and some actual 93 it think its a high 13 sec awd truck.

  2. Well after talking to the general manager we picked up the TBSS tonite and its finally good. There are still a couple of little places but I can fix those my self. We didn't get a month's payment but we did get a couple of tanks a gas and a oil change.

And the best part we are going to keep it :D

  3. Well here is the story, kinda long.

We bougt the TBSS thats in my signature feb 10,2007 new in houston. Once we got it back home sunday we noitced the pait had bird poop stains in the clearcoat(not underwarranty). so we contacted them and they told us just to take it to a local dealer and have them fix every thing that was wrong and send the bill. Sounds simple enough.

well we dropped it off march 1st for the hood, roof, and rear pillar to be painted and a couple of scratches fixed, we get a call telling us it was ready march 12th, we get there and the hood and roof looked like a 5 year old had painted it. The clear had raised spots like there was dust or a bug had landed on it and there were indentions in it. and the roof looked like they mixed water with the clear then sprayed it. the side pillar wasn't even touched or the scratches. but we had family coming in so we needed it back, they told us just to bring it back in to fix it.

The week passed and we drop it back off March 20th for them to fix the mistakes again. they call March 30th and said well its done but there might be some things you notice. well when i looked at the hood they tryed to wetsand the spots out and one spot they sanded so much it looked like a dent. and i opened the passenger door and where they buffed the roof they stood on the door seal and the carpet and its nasty. they finally painted the pillar but you can still see where the spots were. they agreed it was bad. but we needed it back because of more family coming to visit. so they said bring it back when you can.

Now we are up to April 9th we drop it off again. they said everything would be perfect this time. well wednesday came and i get a call from them telling me they painted the hood(3rd time) and it came out bad that they were going to have to repaint it(4th time). I called the manager and all she could say was sorry and that she was going to take care of it. well friday the 13th came and they called and said it was ready to go cleaned up and everything, i get there and sure enough the raised spots on the hood are still there and the pillar had spots in it. the manager couldn't see the spots but its black and is plain as day to me. so they said they would buff it again. well today the 18th i was called and they said it was good to go. the paint is actually good but there is now a dent in the passenger side door. So i pointed it out and she was like well i guess we will have to fix it. so they are going to do that tomorrow. So the manager kinda is getting an attitude because i can found the dent. so my girlfriend asks if they compensate since they have had it going on 34days now. She first said no and she said she keeps trying to give us the truck back that we wont accept it because i keep finding things wrong with it. but she would ask some one, She said all that with a attitude. I just turn around and jump in the truck and and left the dealership where i proceded to call and leave a message with the general manager. I then called 1800 chev usa to tell the story to them.

During this whole time this is my girlfriends 1st new ride and the 1st one she has had to pay for and she is ready to sell it and go back to a small mazda or something thats non chevy. I think we have been overly paitent with the dealer and I think they need to do something for us considering we have been out of the truck for 34 days out of the 64 and they havn't provided us with a rental or anything other than a sorry. Which now i dont think is good enough.

  4. Its has nothing to do about how he got the guns, and having guns isn't the problem. Like some one said if he didn't have a gun and his mind was set he was going to kill some way. They found manuals on how to make bombs in his dorm so him not being able to get a gun wouldn't have stopped him.

I talked to one of my buddys this moring that graduated from VT and he lives within 1/2 mile from the shooters partents in the same community and they have even been to the dry cleaners his parents own. Talk about hitting close to home.

  5. the guns were bought legally. Ok you ban guns that just means there will be more on the black market which will be easier to get and untraceable. We are blaming guns now. How about the parents?? They are the ones that raised them. In todays world no one has time for anything and they give a kid a game and push him off in his room. They might talk to them a hour out of the day but thats it. Its sad.

  6. My thoughts and prayers are with the VT familes and friends.

Every one is so quick to jump and blame the school for not letting it be known faster. It takes a little time to get organized to make a judgement to shut down a 30k people campus. I agree they might could have let the campus know that there was a murder but i am sure they thought shuting down the school was a drastic measure. Whos to say that they shut down campus yesterday and opened it back up today and the shooter waited until today to do the shooting but killed 50.

  7. To keep the lifters from falling you can get 1/4" rods and slide then in from the front of the motor and they will hold the lifters while you pull the cam out. or you can do like alot and pull the pushrods out and spin the cam and the lifters will usually stay up on their own . but thats always a risk.

...Usually. One slipped on mine :shakehead:

I like the rope trick someone else posted for the valves as well. Just feed some 1/4 inch rope into the spark plug hole until full. Never tried it but makes perfect sense.

not unless you have a limp rope :jester:

  8. only reason you would pull the intake for is if your going to pull the heads. which woul dbe needed for a lifter swap. there are ways you can keep them from falling though. one way is pressurize the cylinder with a leak down tester.

This is one way to keep the valves from falling when you change the springs. to keep the lifters from falling you can get 1/4" rods and slide then in from the front of the motor and they will hold the lifters while you pull the cam out. or you can do like alot and pull the pushrods out and spin the cam and the lifters will usually stay up on their own . but thats always a risk.

  9. TSP is pretty good to deal with. I havn't heard anything negative about their motors. Heads are going to depend really how much you are wanting to spend and how much hp you are wanting. you can go with a stage 2 stock head from West Coast Cylinder Heads that flows really good for $1300ish or you can go all out for a set like afr for $2700.
