  1. I have been running this 408 for a little over 3 years now so the windage tray is fine, With the last rebuild the motor has ran for a few hours while i was tuning the idle and letting every thing get set. it has about 100 miles on it now and i still have never gone over half throttle. the noise started after it had only 15 miles on it.

  2. this is a fresh rebuilt 408 from LME with about 15 miles on it. at idle there is a very bad knock noise coming from the bottom of the motor, but as soon as i give it any gas it goes completely away. its idling around 800rpm and if i keep it around 1000rpm its gone. its not exhaust hitting on anything, oil pressure at idle is around 50psi and goes up to 80ish with the throttle. I have a couple of suggestions but i want to hear what other people think.

  4. I had a chance to buy a Teal Typhoon however it just didn't look right. Turns out that there were only around 10-15 made in that color making it a very rare Ty.

I would have to say the early 90's Corvette Quazar Blue. Just stood out to me.

it was a light teal and yes it was very ulgy.

since the local shop here dented my fender and took a chunk of pait out of a flame. I would repaint mine black with electron blue flames again.

  5. I finally took the ford to the track. I let the truck cool for a hour and half then made 2 runs back to back. the fastes it below. the weater was pretty decent last nite 78 with about 80% humidity.

  6. MWall54 - Arent you a moderator at PT.net? Now I know why your number of votes doubled in a day..

Is winning that important to you? Good job bro!!

its never about winning. there are a few sss members that voted on what they thought was the best truck. Thats what this is all about. getting people to see what can be done and appreciate performance trucks.

  7. Well since i have been MIA for a little while now I figured I would show some pics of what I have been doing and give some info too.

well ever since I put the 408 in(over 2 years ago) I havn't had the best of luck with it. The best I could get out of it was a 13.4 n/a and 12.2 on a 100 shot both with a 2.0 60ft. well i thought two things were my problem. 1 being a converter that wasn't stalling high enough and 2 my cam just wasn't big enough for the stroker. well i got a healthy cam and during the swap i broke the crank bolt off in the crank taking it out. I couldn't find any one with in 100 miles that would touch the truck or motor. they all wanted the crank in hand. and since i travel so much I didn't have a place to do it. so i bought a 20ft car trailer and loaded it up and put the truck into storage until i got down here to san antonio where i have a very small garage to work on it.

I pulled the motor and had it taken to LME over in houston to remove the crank bolt. once they tore it down they found out that my pistons were not exactly .030 over and were wobbling in the holes. luckly i only put a few thousand miles on it. so they were able to salvage the crank and rods. it was completely rebalanced and everything was great. during this time I have been working on getting all of the covers powder coaded with the help from kaotik1. I got the motor back and bolted everything up and went to turn it over and nothing, got a compression tester and no compression. well i pulled out my hair trying to figure out what the problem was and it turned out to be that the machine ship put the crank timing gear on in the wrong position. this ment i had to drop the oil pan enough to get the oil tube off to take the oil pump off. well in doing this i stuck a rag down in the front of the oil pan to keep form droping the oil tube bolt. well i got the gear on right and everything was good to go. got full compression so i bolted everything back up. started it and it ran fine. i forgot one little thing. The rag in the front of the oil pan. The rag was in 100 pieces when i realized it. well needless to say the motor is back at lme to get a cleaning and all of the clearances checked. and thats a little bit of why i haven't been around so much. Here are some pics of my last build

    cleaned up engine bay

Bottom end with all arp bolts

Deck of block with new wiesco pistons

Oil pan that was coated with heat disapating coating

    T/A cover with some 305 G forces

  8. 10.5" it is a 3 disc lock and its a 3000 stall. I ran it for about 150 miles total. I had it restalled once and due to my cam the 3000 isn't high enough for me. I ended up going with at 9.5 and a higher stall. This would work great with a Radix. I paid a little over 1100 for it and I want to get $800+shipping.

  9. isnt that near what the truck retailed for new?

yes it is but right now completely stock it books for $25,000. With all the work and detail along with the parts it has it is priced competitively with other trucks that are similar

  10. She is beautiful!

That sure is a heafty jump into the cab for the short people. My wife would be pissed without steps.

it has the besttop retractable steps that come down 8" when the door is opened and they go back up when the door is closed.
