  1. ive had this same issue, at times its really embarassing lol. Usually its when im reaching into my pocket to get my keys out. Im gonna take mine apart i guess like mentioned above, and the disable the bastard.
  2. Cool pictures, both are beautiful trucks. Thats car is 1 bad mofo aswell!
  3. Neat picture man, im assuming shortly after this photo was taken, you recieved a very nice shower lol. Thanks for sharing
  4. Hehe welcome to the site bud, Thats a great story, and i am sure you will take very good of that SS.
  5. Not trying to be a jerk here, cause your a really nice guy, and you really try and help out a lot which is great, so please dont take this personal. But you dont even own an SS, nor towed with 1 i would guess, how can you know where the sweet spots are, and arent? 4:10's pulling a trailer actually provide good grunt even in overdrive when pulling 3-4k pounds. I tow a 3800 lb aluminum river boat with a V8 in it, and it does Great. Like Tom03ss mentioned, the sweet spot is more like 60-65. The truck likes being around 2k rpm's, and will downshift much less. It takes decent hills to even need 3rd gear when pulling 3-4k pounds at 65. sweet spot 60-65.will net ya 11-12 MPG, and the truck is at a more comfortable pace.
  6. Cool JC03SS, thanks for the info, and im sure it definantly cant hurt! Post some pics of your complete engine compartment also sometime, it looks really bad ass!
  7. Looks damn good, nice job! Whats the ported TB supposed to do anyhow, other than looking super clean lol.
  8. Ok, i have an update. After doing some research, and looking at my Instructions my used kit came with, I was missing 2 gaskets. Theres 2 gaskets that sandwhich between your MAF sensor and the airbox, 1 on the inside, 1 on the outside of box. I told the guy at Volant yeah, im getting a check engine light ever since i installed this, his next response was... aww yeah, was it code P0101? lol..... He said yep, that is why. I didnt even buy the kit new from them, and they sent me new gaskets today to alaska for free, didnt even want a dime.... im impressed to say the least! When i get the gaskets in, i will let ya know for sure if that was the problem!
  9. Ugh man, im sorry to hear. If this makes you feel any better, when i bought my truck 8 months ago, i bought it at night and the truck looked perfect, which i pretty much is, except, i missed that the passenger door had been partially painted... from the pass door cladding through the bottum half of the door it was blended, and you can see it... not the worst blend ive seen, but not to my standards thats for sure. They clear coated the SS emblem on that side ( lazy bastards ), which the clear is now starting to peel around them, aswell as the masking line under the window seal, is starting to peel. Ive got a friend with a body shop, and in order to make it right, and blend into both doors, im lookin at around 1k Which i dont exactly have either... every time i see that door, it hurts my heart a little lol.
  10. Only have 90 in alaska, i guess us alaskans are all abusers lol.
  11. I wanna say, it gives you a bit more HP, but slightly less torque than ours. Someone can correct me if im wrong.
  12. Nice cluster bud! Steve does great work, and is a really good guy. I've dealt with him recently aswell, and was a pleasure to deal with!
  13. Well, i pulled my Volant all apart, and re checked everything, and re tightened everything. Honestly, everything looked fine, and Its really hard to install a CAI wrong lol, it either fits together, or it dont. With that said, i recleaned my MAF, tightened the hell out of the clamps this time, triple checked everything, so we will see. Keystone, Mine would also set off while towing my boat also. Mainly when getting on the throttle above 50% power. Punch In Code P0101, after installing CAI< and you will see this is actually a very common Issue. Im gonna give er hell to get it fixed, and when i do, I will let you know what i did to get it under control. I hate seeing my CEL come on, and go... well its just P0101... but what if its not? So, i end up going to oreilys or whatever, even though im 99% sure what it is... to see whats up.
  14. Ill check everything again to check for leaks! Thanks guys
  15. Nope, my tuned PCM is currently in the hands of wheatley, which i told him about, but he didnt comment on that. Guess we will see when i get it back?
  16. Alright, 2 months ago, i bought Jrocks CAI, which works fine btw, but about a week after, i started getting code P0101. Its kinda random when it comes on. COde PO101 Is a generic code for mass airflow performence blah blah. Yes i cleaned the MAF sensor already ( 2 times in 7 months actually ), i never had this code with stock intake. Am i stuck having to clear the damn code every couple weeks? will it eventually stop coming on, after the computer relearns? Kinda curious if anyone has had similiar issues, or a fix for this... truck runs fine when the code comes up, i just hate seeing a the damn CEL.
  17. OMG Officer earnest!!!! No way, thats who i took to court and won lol. Too fricken funny! He will definantly show up to court, if you decide to fight it. The judges will favor you im sure, with all the stupid tickets he writes. Lets put it this way, When i went to the cop shop, the People at the COP station, said oh i should i have known this was a officer earnest ticket lol. The lady in the booth, said, if it was hers, she would fight it..... this is at the damn cop shop telling me this!
  18. Fight the HID ticket, and you will win. Its night court ( i live in alaska too ) i fought a rediculous ticket recently and won ( the cop did show up too ). Take pictures of your headlights with them on, and the judge will dismiss it, i would bet money on it. every damn car/truck is this town has them at this point ( make that a point to the judge aswell ). I know its only 60 dollars ( mine was like 80 ) but its the principal of it. Chances are, the cop wont even show up to be honest ( free win for you ) And if he does... great... he had to go to court for a stupid ticket he shouldnt have even wrote.... win win. Its very laid back, so if you get nervous speaking in front of people... dont be, there wont be hardly anyone there. Just my 2 cents... its your money/time though, so do what you feel you need to do.
  19. I like this sound Its a DI/DO, but its only 14'' long.... is this gonna hurt peformance? part # 11386. Thank you everyone for the advice/help so far.
  20. So, after looking at our stock Muffler, its a DI/DO with a y after the muffler that goes into 1 pipe behind the rear tire correct? I want to keep my exhaust stock everything, and just put a new muffler in. My question is, theres a lot of magnaflow mufflers. So dilema is, do i keep the DI/DO style muffler, or go to a DI,SO muffler, SI,SO muffler? Does either of those affect the sound? Thought i read, there are Magnaflow bullets also? Theres so many differant Muffler lengths, and man.... never thought there were that many damn options lol.I really want a Low deep rumble with this truck, and want to be heard when im pouring it on. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated I dont wanna be sacrficing performance, and Gaining only slightly better sound if ya know what i mean.
  21. Congrats man. Definantly an upgrade for sure.... although, i think your Old SSS looked better. Either way, its a sweet rig.
  22. I love that perspective of that run 8hnpss. Trucks sounds awesome.
