  1. Welcome... and nice buy! from NC
  2. iv been thinking whether or not to pick up a set of 243's and send them out as well with my intake. Or build a front mount. I do tow a 22ft boat and use my truck as much as i can as a truck without beating on it or trashing it. This is the dilemma.... i guess i should post a new topic for this
  3. If your asking about the use of the stock intake and ported stock 317 heads, then yes they are very good as well. With a cam and ported stock head motor through a stock intake and throttle body i put down 425 to the wheels and ran a 12.82. Im curious on what setup you had going shadowsniper.... care to share? srry to hijack...
  4. Bump.... no one has an answer to this?
  5. Im curious how some of you are doing tow wise having a bumpstick in your truck. Iv been debating the idea for which direction to go with my truck and it comes down to driveability, reliability, and performance. Either to cam + heads or go F.I.? Im about to purchase a boat come tax season in the 20-22ft range. Tongue weight isnt the issue as that can be adjusted on the trailer. The question im having is who actually uses their truck as a truck with a cam and converter? Iv been looking into the NSSP cam 230/232 612 612 114 ..... thoughts?
  6. iv got a set of the gmpp valve covers id let go pm me if interested.... i was gonna put them up for sale on pt.net this week.
  7. might want to re-read.... i said it can work. I didnt say it was a direct bolt on. Also, its still hard to recommend anything as everyone has different tastes and will want to use different parts. He really needs to get in touch with someone who does head work and let them recommend a h/c/i combo that will work for what he wants to pay.
  8. Iv raced a genises and a z from a dig. had em off the line and half car at about a 1/4 mile. my truck isnt supercharged neither. its mostly stock. no tune
  9. well your cam will depend on how radical and the purpose of your ride. Who-ever specs you one will take all that into consideration. Your converter will depend on you cam, driving style, tire size, and gear ratio. The lsxrt is a great intake manifold but dont pick your heads because you want a specific intake. The l92's/ls3 are great heads stock and even better ported. They will also raise your compression ratio as the stage 2.5 317's will not. Unless you have them milled. If you plan on boost down the road go with the 317's. If you want a great head that has room to grow and make good power go ls3. The lsxr intake will work with the ls3 heads and can work on our trucks. The lsxrt will work with the 317's and is a direct bolt-on. With what you will be spending already id go ls3 with an lsxr intake or even a victor jr. all your other mods sound good. You should start with your bolt ons and go from there.
  10. iv seen the kits that relocate the coils to the firewall, most common on f-body's. it doesnt look very good on our trucks tho.. IMO but hiding them behind the heads or back side of the intake manifold would look best. iv also seen guys fab their own and mount them to the frame rail or even the inner fenders. Just remember to mount your coils rigid as heavy vibration isnt good for them...
  11. Im having a company (close friend of mine) who makes carbon hoods for the atv's make a prototype. He said he would make me one but to have him make them for the general public would be a little tough as he is busy with his own thing. Anyone interested by chance?
  12. where can i grab some or atleast dimensions?
  13. def doo.... welcome.... here at ft bagg
  14. i have a good write up if i could find a way to copy and paste this without an embedded link
  15. i did spindles and had to turn the key bolts out to get it to look the way i wanted.could use a rear sway bar, and if you plan on towing or actually using your bed you will want to notch the frame. with a smaller bumpstop. i didnt touch my shocks at all. i dont really think i need too. i did spindles and had to turn the key bolts out to get it to look the way i wanted.could use a rear sway bar, and if you plan on towing or actually using your bed you will want to notch the frame. with a smaller bumpstop. i didnt touch my shocks at all. i dont really think i need too.
  16. I have those ones. Iv had them for about 4 years on 3 different motors and had them painted 3 diff colors. They work great but they're cast aluminum and break If dropped. Im going to have them powder coated a carbon fiber look for the SS with a victor jr intake and red fuel rails should look meannnn ;) srry for thread jacking
  17. Best looking photo i have so far. Im still trying to find a good backdrop for her.... just took these last night
  18. im highly considering purchasing an underdrive pulley in the near future, my question is who makes the highest quality product and what brands are out there? im been getting mixed responses as to who is making them and how available they are... maby a polished set if its out there
  19. depends what your goals are, what you use your truck for, and also what your willing to spend. FAST does make an LSXR intake for the LS3 which would work with the heads you are talking about. If money permits my plans are l92's heavily ported and an lsxr ported with some sort of custom cam and stall. But there are lots of things to take into consideration with mods like these. Lots of combos will work well in your truck. Theres doing it right with research and proper previous planning, and then theres throwing parts at it.
  20. Active duty army currently in the 95th civil affairs airborne at ft Bragg... There's like 5 other SS here... There's 3 of us with black ones, a blue, a silver, and I constantly see a red one on skibo in the mornings... Anyone at Bragg feel Free to message me. Always looking for parts or races ;)
  21. im 6.2' as well and never have any issues with seating. maby u should get to the docter??
  22. yes they do have drums out back but im going to be converting to a 13" disc setup. im gonna have to check out the proxes but im leaning towards a strictly track tire that i can bolt on at the house, drive ten min to the track and run. then drive home, without being hassled by johnny law
  23. would they clear a 13" disc out back? its one of my next mods ... thanks
