  1. Speed limits by me are mainly 65. Some are 70. Fastest I've done was ~160 in my cobaltSS up the 5 freeway. 110 in my Silverado. According to my gps. 100mph max speedo limit. But it was pegged at 100.
  2. Welcome from southern Cali. Can't wait to see pics.
  3. So I'm looking at what kind of piping I should use. I'm not using stainless. I live in California. I rarely see snow. So mild steel will most likely be what I use. But not sure what gauge to use. I figure the thicker the better. Is 16 gauge ok? Or should I use 14 gauge?
  4. How many do you have to buy to get it at 45$ a piece?
  5. Ok guys. So with my tax return I will be buying, rims, a 3/5 lower kit, and a new set of tires. I will also start my turbo build. I have a 2001 z71 rcsb. (Going for an SS look) anyways. Only looking to rub maybe 6-8 psi. To get around 375-400 rwhp. Going to be running a rear mount setup. I will be fabbing everything myself. Or my father will help. He's a real good fabricator. So far I'm looking at this a GT3582R. It's a ball bearing turbo. Most likely going with an eBay waste gate, blow off valve. And boost controller. Not sure what fuel pump I should get. I've been reading on this, and think a walbro 255. Should be ok. What do you guys think? Ill probably go to a junk yard and pull off some 8.1l injectors. And then for the oil use a mocal differential cooler pump. Handles up to 300* oils. Pumps 1-2GPM which I think should be fine for the relatively small turbo I'm running. I will either go to BBPERFORMANCE for a dyno tune. Or tune it myself with EFIlive. I'm not sure which yet. This is my DD so I don't want to run a crazy amount of boost. Like I said maybe 6-8 psi. I may even start out on 4. And slowly turn it up. Hopefully have the truck lowered, and turboed. In 2-3 months. Tops. This is my first turbo build. Or really my first build of anything from scratch. So any tips, tricks, suggestions, is gladly accepted. I don't know much about turbos. And what I've put together so far has just been me researching for the past month.
  6. Down in Cali myself. And while I don't see many SSS around me. I'm sure it happens. My first car was a 1995 Honda civic. I did a GSR swap, tranny disk brakes, etc. car was sweet. And for a 16 year old I had a lot if money in it. And it got stolen, I was lucky enough that one of the people who stole it. Ended up knowing a friend of mine. And I got it back. Untouched. My buddy would never tell me who ended up taking it. But I was pretty happy to have my baby back. I couldn't imagine losing my truck. It's not an SS yet. But I'm working on it. It sucks that people wont make a living the right way. And work for what they have.
  7. All 4 weekends work for me. Just depends if I have the money at that time to go. Haha. But as of now count me in.
  8. Who's up for a SoCal meet. Maybe down in Huntington, or something? Looking for maybe mid march? On a Friday night. Or Saturday morning/afternoon. Maybe we can get a BBQ going, have a cruise, then a BBQ. Shoot out some ideas. I'm open. Just looking to see some of y'all's trucks. I don't have an SS. But I'm working on a clone. Slowly but surely. Maybe we can get a track night going. And meet at irwindale on a Thursday night and whoop up on some mustangs, and other slow a$$ fords. Let me know what you guys think. I think barona is having mustang vs. the world race in march some time. Or a fords vs all type race. We could get some people out there. Let me know what you guys think.
  9. I'm in for another group buy if you do pm me. I'm in for a set.
  10. Well I know when I had my cobalt, my dad has a obd2 reader I think* and when we plugged it in and drove it logged the data. And I remember the data telling me what percent the injectors were at, what boost I was at, what my AFR was. Etc. so while I totally agree much easier with a list of mods. I feel like the data log gives you quite a lot of Info. But I'm not a tuner nor do I claim to be. This is just my opinion. I still think the guy your friend went to was very unprofessional. And I wouldn't go to him again.
  11. Ya it sucks for me because I can't send mine till the 14th because I have a school credit. And you can't send those till the 14th!!! UGH!!!! Haha.
  12. Think ill just re upholster mine. Lol. I like my bench front seat anyways. Haha
  13. Why is that? When you log the truck don't you get all the info needed in the data?
  14. I've heard BBperformance has this thing they send you. You get logs of your truck, email it to them, they send you back a tune, then you log it again. And email it back. Then they give you a more fine tuned product. I live an hour or so from their dyno. So I'll be getting that done when I buid my turbo for it after I lower it. But I've heard great things with them.
  15. I don't think they have to know everything. What he's going to do is get some data logs, at WOT partial. Etc. adjust timing, fuel, etc. get some more logs, adjust again if needed. Doesn't really matter what's done to the truck (I don't think) I'm no pro. So I may be completely wrong. BUT I would like a place that talks to me, tells me what they did, and all that so I know he actually did something. Not just drive around, waste my gas, use my truck for an errand he needed to run. And come back. Hahaha.
  16. Where did you find your SS seats. And how hard is it to put the SS seats in vs the regular 1500 seats? Do they just bolt right up where the old seats go? Idk of I should do it that way or just re upholster my current seats to match the SS ones. What do you think?
  17. NICE! 4$ to put towards your project!!! Haha
  18. Damn I'm sub'ed. I'm looking to do this same thing but with a step side! You're is an inspiration man! Looks good!
  19. Thanks guys. And I can't wait to see the progress either! Haha. This damn tax refund needs to hurry up!
  20. I don't have an SS. I have a 2001 Z71. And what is a helper spring?
  21. Damn that looks clean man. I think since mine a 4x4. A 3/5 is not as low as a 3/5 on a 2wd because it starts off higher am I correct in thinking this?
  22. 4wd ftmfw! I have best of both world traction when I decide to build the motor. And drive in snow/rain. And 2wd for how I sit now .
  23. I'm using djm LCA's. doing a rear flip kit. With c-notch. And 1" shackle raisers. I think a 3/6 would be to much. We will see. So your saying I should be ok with the 275/55/20's? In the rear for sure. And if I rub up front I can crank my t bars till I don't rub. Till I get new tires on them. Do you have any pictures of yours lowered with that tire size? I'd like to see what it looks like.
