  1. thanks-I am slow getting stuff done yea I know I should have taken more, I took the first one and my wife took our son rollerblading for the first time so I gave her the camera while I worked on it I'll pull it apart to snap some pics when I change my oil, or sooner it is raining and I want to see if any water made it up to the filter. driving experence seems better, faster response...
  2. More pics in How-to section thanks fuelslut for the idea to put a decal in there for people to get down and look at I used tiewraps to hold it in place, I cut a hole in the airbox support with a 4" hole saw, I offset the hole toward the back of the truck so in the middle of the plastic airbox. The I used a 3" hole saw to cut the hole into the airbox, then I used some insulation/foam to seal the two holes to each other. I only used a small piece of 3" PVC, you cannot even tell if you are looking at the engine compartment. sorry the pic is of low quality.
  3. one of us used a airplane supplyier to make up his brake lines maybe you could use those type of braided lines for your trans too
  4. should not compare the two very different. One is like a talored suit and one is from the mens department at walmart:)
  5. I used this one, I like the threaded in/output. it is smaller that P's but I have yet to see my trans temps get high, I will see in the summer my true trans temps. oh yea I love the TBTC, you will be amazed on how a little difference is so BIG.
  6. they dont make L anymore you would be buying a very used one, keep that in mind. I have seen the new harleytruck and I dont think thay are more than an appearence package...drive them, that is what sealed it for me, the quality of the Chevy compaired to the ford is not even close...I hope the new fords are better but the HD and L seem to have low build quality.
  7. I dont want to change the subject but who??? I dont like to judge people but their work should speak for itself? or drop me a pm cause I feel like I missed something that has happened on our board thanks -joe
  8. are you still stock tune? that is a big start!
  9. with your new mods I know you will get over that 400hp mark, unless you have already and then it will really need to be tuff. good luck and I hope good results so that we dont have to all swap over to keep our trucks on the road
  10. not to mention how much those things cost $$$$$$
  11. like P said, you should double/triple check the trans settings in the PCM, I am no expert but from what I have read it is all to easy to get a bad tune that will mess up stuff or just give bad performance, I bet there is someone here who could look over your tune to compaire it with other radix truck's tunes, dontknow??
  12. It has to be used or wrecked for that price. No dealership would take a $20,000 loss on any vehicle. The gas mileage is not as bad as everyone is saying, I am now getting about 11 MPG. If I stay off the gas ( which I can't ) I could get better than that. That is not much lower than the SS I had. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> it was an SRT-10! it was a demo, and a 2005, so a left over that the manager probablly drove?? It was the only one left, and red if it was black I would have at least went for a test drive IMO-with the gas prices going up dealers will deal these b/c they want room for a caliber or something less than a big V10 gas-a-holic. I wish myy buddy did not just buy a TBSS b/c I could see him in the QC SRT-10
  13. I am getting ready for my summer project time and I need a rear end for my 1950 chevy. It needs to have the correct lug pattern and width for rhw 50's frame. I was hoping for a posi but I cant find one now how do 3:73 gears sound?? I have found a 1996 truck that I could get the 4 speed trans and rear end from but I dont want to get it if the parts are not going to be worth it it also has the 305 votec that I might use, but dont really want to- I want to put my LQ9 in there but I need to win the lottery first So I want the engine to have some power, my newest thought is to put the SSS motor in the 50 and put a stroker in the SSS, the best of both worlds!!!! but I have my work cut out for me, My biggest obsicle now is getting the right parts so I dont blow the little bit of money I do have to blow...what does the cost of a stroker goto if you are needing new block, heads???? I know this is off topic, but you guys are my resources
  14. now you are thinking after you get tuned let us know how she pulls and race again, I am interested in how much difference there is between the Stock SS and on with minor mods (like mine )
  15. the PCM control fuel and timing and can be adjusted to get much better performance from our trucks, I gaind almost 20hp (dont really remember) on a dyno with no mods just tuning. Mail order is ok but getting a real person to tune your truck will make it a much better tune. on the newer trucks there is a trans vcomputer also that can get improved upon.
  16. off topic but in SE michigan there is an SRT-10 at a dealer for 29,991!!! for that price you cant beat it. oh yea it is a quad cab.
  17. I just opened up my stock airbox a bit and added a ram-air tube and it seems to have quicker response, it still pulls hard but that is thanks to zippy not the ram-air I think is a fine line between a bigger hole and rmoving the bottom half of the air box. I cut a small 3" circle, while the ram air tube is 4", I told my self I could make it bigger if I have to Air-flow is amazing, I wish I had a wind tunnel and a flow bench to see how the air acts inside the box, at highway speeds, how ram-air changes the stock air path???
  18. thats what happened to me, I blame that lame connection w/that weak ass clip! I blew it off and fried the 3-4 bands. well that is all they(dealer) replaced I wish I could have had it built and then put back, there is only one trans guru I know of
  19. check your grounds, even with a poor ground the remote will supply enough power to put the power light on like it is getting power when it is not.
  20. just get some loged runs to make sure you are good with fuel. and try your best to get a zippy tune-cause I dont know who else can dial them in as good as he can, play it safe. When I was at the dyno it was impressive how he knew not to push a truck cause of a small issue(too lean) and he backed out of the run so the truck did not get messed up any, and with my tune he put a new one in after we were off the rollers casue how hot my truck was running on the dyno, which was too cool since that is that little bit that makes a difference. with all this computer mess on these newer trucks it is not about just getting it done it is about getting it done RIGHT or your truck will not like it and give you reduced power, which is what I notice with a lot of guys on perftrucks they goto the track and get slower times and wonder why...it is in the programming!!! sorry for the long post, but I dont want you to mess up the truck any.
  21. Oh ok. Does he have a radix? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The truck is an 03' Silverado SS with a Procharger (D1SC), 3 core intercooler, 160 thermostat, 2600 stall, Zippy shift kit, Bellenger headers, and programming by me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> good job, sounds like a nice combo.
  22. I think there is a better place to get n accurate trans temp, or better than in the pan

    AWD vs RWD

you can do AWD burnouts...your truck just wont like it Chase hit it on the head, AWD was a big selling point, and I live in the snow belt. and now since they dont make AWD anymore it makes my truck special
  24. launch that bad boy and the big smile comes across your face, espically if you do the whole put in in N and rev it hold the brake down...it will fly out of the hole! these are the blck decal inserts
