This is in the wrong spot. I suggest you repost under correct section..... Like General.
  2. Nope strictly for looks......
  3. I don't understand how a short in the seat bottom would cause it to turn on by itself. I can see when you turn switch on and nothing happens or it gets SUPER hot or system turns on and off yes that most likely is a short in the seat element. I saw lots of those.... the fact it turns on by itself is a different issue... but I could be wrong... it happened once... lol.
  4. See my above comment... I would start but removing door pannel and checking all door wiring....
  5. Reliable is one of the best but you will pay top dollar. GM and Ford use them to ship show and concept cars if that gives you any idea. In one of my moves I called them for a price to ship my Camaro and it was a LOT. It all boils down to if your wanting inclosed or open trailer.... The open is obviously a lot cheaper. One company I've used during my many relocations is DAS dependable auto shippers. A lot of relocation companies use them they offer both open and inclosed. They use a "terminal" system so they can offer door to door or if your willing to save money you can take or pickup vehicle from a location usually a local tow company they work with. You save a bunch by not having dropped at your door as they pickup and drop at a central location. I would shop around as rates vary a lot from company to company. If your looking for names there are a bunch of haulers listed in Hemmings if you pick up a copy. Also ask how much insurance a company has and if they handle damage or make you use your insurance. I have moved 5 times in 15 years from coast to coast and being a car guy have shipped my babies a few times so I know a thing or two about shipping cars unfortunately......
  6. Extended warrantys wont cover trim items and they may not cover mirror if they see it got hit... Typically they cover mechanical defects and a mirror exploding into a million pieces isn't exactly a mechanical defect.... Lol.
  7. I like the 06 best due to the grill and power dome hood. I also like 2wd as I can smoke them if I want.
  8. It should... I think the ISS were fully loaded. If it had a green tint to the mirror it has the auto dim feature.
  9. LOL its time.... you got your moneys worth!
  10. Yep sounds like it's bad. How many miles are on truck? If it has a lot of miles it's probably due. I would buy a good pump don't go cheap.... They are kind of a pain to replace. Also run it out of gas or as close to empty as you can get. Makes the job much easier.....
  11. My guess is you all have a short. I would start by looking at door wiring.... I would put money on a pinched or rubbed through wire in the door pass through....
  12. Told you. Having lived in Midwest twice I am very familiar with rust. If you drive it in winter that is what they look like underneath. Sad but that is the way it is. Now try working on them. Nothing like lots of seized bolts.... That and you brake a lot nuts and bolts so a torch is your best friend. Ah yes patina.....
  13. They salt the chit out of roads in the mid west. If it was driven in the winter at all your going to have rust issues. I would run as it's not going to get better. There wasn't many iss so your going to have to keep looking. All the iss I have seen fall into too buckets... No miles and big money or worn out and somewhat cheap. Heck most Silverado SS fall into same buckets.... So if your looking for the middle your going to have to keep looking I think you will eventually find what your looking for but I would steer clear of salt state rigs.... Just my 2 cents.
  14. I use Rock Auto. Prices are good and it ships right to your door.... You can get AC Delco which is factory stuff if you want or can go after market.
  15. I think most states are that way. Here in NC you need to have a NC drivers license. I think your either gonna need to get a new license or go buy one back home when you go visit and bring back with you.
  16. Interesting it was totaled. It doesn't look that bad.
  17. Won't your insurance cover replacing the script?
  18. Yes... he would be better off using Duct Tape vs. Glue! LOL
  19. That sucks. Did you see if a dealer out there has one on the parts locator? I swear there was a guy on here a few months back that had a bunch of them for sale....
  20. Was he like you young whipper snappers on your interweb..... Lol.
  21. You don't want to do that! You need to remove all the old glue/tape and redo. Get a roll of 3m foam trim tape. It's expensive I paid 50 or 60 bucks for a roll of 5/8 wide stuff from a body shop supply store. You'll have lots left over for the "next time". Lol.
  22. When you buy a new one it is "stuck" to a film on front so you just apply and it keeps the letters with correct spacing and alignment.... which is why they can charge so much. Nobody is going to take the time to do what your thinking of doing. Plus you going to have a hard time my guess cutting the "double sided" tape to the shape of the letter....
  23. Yes maybe he could have been more vague..... I want to buy something...... Crickets.....
