  1. Does anyone have a part number for the OE exhaust tip? I have been searching and can't find anything, my guess is you can't buy just the "tip" but have to buy the whole tailpipe assembly. Unfortunately when I bought my truck someone got rid of the OE system and it has some kind of aftermarket exhaust. I think its a custom made setup. It is pretty decent but at some point I want to upgrade to a Corsa... I am actually thinking going with the dB system but using a stock tip.
  2. You need to get one of these.... www.cubbycam.com I want to get one... just got to save up!
  3. The problem is most 80's car were throw away and treated as such...
  4. Are they no longer available from GM?
  5. I have my 88 Beretta for sale... too bad your all the way up in Washington. I used to live in the NW now were down in NC.
  6. Thanks all... I now work in Heavy Duty Trucks and they are big in the industry....yeah Donaldson is a good filter. On my '02 SS Camaro it came with a Donaldson Blackwing filter and there was a lot of testing done back then the paper Donaldson flows better than a K&N. Plus I wonder about how good the K&N's filter out dust. My truck came with it but as soon as I get some extra $$ I am going to pull it and replace. Thanks.
  7. Chrome reminds me of an Escalade... oh wait that's what its from. ;)
  8. I keep going back n forth do I switch out the K&N system my truck came with for a non oiled filter or go with the Volant. I like the OE look of the Volant and like the idea of a high flow paper filter. I am not real excited about the idea of cleaning any kind of filter period. I know Volant is made by the same company that makes Corsa which is the best exhaust IMHO (although pricey). The only thing (well not only) is I worry about is water intrusion with a K&N. Not sure if it even is an issue? But back to my question I am thinking of the Volant... just curious if anyone has one.
  9. Or you could just use a fuel pressure gauge and check on the rail.... heck of a lot safer!
  10. I assume you tried cycling just to make sure it's not out of sync? I would GOTO a site like gm parts.com or similar to look it up.
  11. At 100k I would at a minimum replace plugs and wires. I would start by checking all fluids unless you have service records. Coolant should have been changed once. Watch your t case and diffs.... Your basic maintenance stuff. Oil cooler lines leak but I have not seen a GM truck they don't leak on.... Otherwise pretty bullit proof trucks. Which is why I bought one.....
  12. Sounds like a bad pump. Was the pump making any noise? On most Gm vehicles you can hear when the pump is going you will hear a whine noise from tank when they are real loud typically they don't have much time left. One thing to keep in mind if you have never changed your filter and do so you also run risk of blowing pump out. The pumps compensate and ramp up pressure to compensate for plugged filters. Once you change it typically blows up shortly after. Seen a bunch of them......
  13. That's the ball park I thought, thanks.
  14. I have a k&n that came in my truck and I want to change to a different setup. Anyone have an idea what a used CAI is worth? Truck has 50k on it so I assume filter has that many miles maybe less but it was on truck when I bought it with 48k.
  15. Sometimes you gotta pay a little more then you want to. I did on my 06 I bought back this last November. I tried everything to get dealer down but they wouldn't budge. In the end I paid maybe a few thousand more then I would have liked but got a really nice truck I'm super happy with. The dealer knows they have a nice piece and somebody will step up to the pump and pay what they want. Plus it looks like it has new tires that alone is worth about a grand. Mine had new rubber also and it's nice piece of mind one less thing to deal with.
  16. That is interesting! So is it a paper filter? I also want to ditch the K&N filter and go oil less... I was thinking of the Volant with the Donaldson filter though but this might work until I do that.
  17. This is a very common problem. Often the connector to the blower resister gets melted so be prepared you may have to replace that also. Typically all three door actuators don't go bad its usually one. Only way I know to check is with a Tech 2 you can command each door and see which one is hanging up.
  18. I found my SSS on Autotrader... There is a nice low mile 06 for sale in Ohio but its black.
  19. I don't know if I would buy a used bag off of ebay. It could be full of saw dust or who knows what.... plus you never know what its been exposed to etc. After all these airbags in Honda's and other cars are blowing up I wouldn't take a chance but that just me....
  20. Great that's what I thought... opps expensive mistake. Looks like I will drain this weekend
  21. So I decided to service rear diff this weekend now that truck just cracked 50k. I went to dealer and got fluid and friction modifier for rear end. I am getting conflicting info, owners manual doesn't call out specifically. I added friction modifier for the limited slip but other things I found online (so you know its true) say not to use. What is correct? Can someone help? I hope I don't have to drain again.... Truck is 06 RWD
  22. I would check for a chafed or broken wire(s) in door pass through (where the harness flexes) in door.
  23. To me it kind of sounds like a problem with your multi function switch... but its a little hard to diagnosis a truck through the 'ol interweb.
