  1. Looks really good... I would recommend applying something over the top of that with better protective qualities. The cleaner waxes are generally more for deep cleaning your paint and offer very little in the way of durable protection. Theres a little protection in them, but if you put all the effort into cleaning it up you should layer on something that will give it more IMO. yes and no... it does have more correcting ability than the PC, but thats due to the fact it has a forced driven rotation to the head, similar to a rotary. The reason a PC is safe for even a novice to pick up and use is that it won't burn the paint, even if you tried, b/c the head freespin. No driven rotation = no paint burning. The flex on the other hand w/ its driven rotation has the potential to do some real damage in inexperienced hands. Not saying its a bad machine, but it should be used by someone with SOME experience with a buffer before just jumping to the flex. BTW -- there is a group buy on an Adams PC kit going on over on TBSSowners.com if anyone is interested. Just PM me and I'll add you to the list.
  2. That turns my stomach... literally the thought of it just makes me feel sick. Put a bullet between her eyes and make the world a better place IMO.
  3. Good riddance to the UAW IMO... the sooner our car companies can get out from under the excessive burden the UAW has placed on them the sooner they can get back to being competitive. Unions are an antiquated and useless relic of the past, sure they were useful in their time, but living in the world that we do, where anyone can hire a lawyer and sue if treated unjustly by their employer it just makes so little sense to allow unions to control the fate of such large chunks of our collective heritage. Most compelling argument on the subject of what to do with the failing automakers came from Mitt Romney back in November of last year... I 100% subscribe to his thought process in this article and only wish this had been the way the government had decided to go instead of pouring more money into failing companies. I know its not a popular opinion to say "LET THEM GO BANKRUPT" but read the article and understand that it/was the lesser of the 2 evils b/c even though GM is afloat now... until they unburden themselves of the unions, renegotiate all their contracts, and start fresh they'll never be competitive again.
  4. Not sure if anyone posted it yet, but the new DevilDriver single is up on Youtube... far and away my favorite metal band http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQ5m7S2nqB8
  5. Dang!! Feel free to send me some stuff for my birthday
  6. Misdirecting the blame there guys... our government had very little, if anything at all to do with this. Sure its easier to play conspiracy theorist if you voted for the other guy and you are clinging to the "Obama is a closet muslim socialist zombie vampire" ideology, but facts are facts. Any franchise contract would have been invalidated when Chrysler filed for bankruptcy, that means all existing contracts, agreements, debts, etc were null and void. It sounds to me, as part of the restructuring, Chrysler is reducing dealer headcount and under the protection of their bankruptcy filing they have zero obligation to honor any contract with franchise holders. Since this guy will no longer be a "Franchise" dealer, yes... he won't be able to perform warranty work or sell his existing inventory of vehicles as "NEW" but that doesn't mean he cannot become an independent dealer... there are tons of them out there. The initial loss will be substantial b/c the inventory he is sitting on will be sold at a loss, but he can still have an active service department doing non-warranty repair work. Essentially he just got caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Does it suck? Yes. But if you want to throw blame around try pointing in the appropriate direction... American automakers are now paying for decades of piss poor business practices, inflated overhead, and rapidly eroding market share. It just so happens that the economic collapse dealt them the deathblow right as our new president was being elected. Though the timing is unfortunate it is completely to unfair to pin this on the current administration, or any administration for that matter. Simple fact is no matter who was in office when Chrysler filed for bankruptcy this was still going to happen... please try to see beyond your bias before making assumptions and attaching blame.
  7. If your water stains are pretty bad you might consider stepping up to a heavier grade of clay and following that with a deep cleaning polish.
  8. Heres the thing, there are only a few companies that manufacture clay... pretty much every claybar on the market comes from one of these places and then is rebranded to be sold. Almost all over the counter (sold at autozone, pepboys, etc) bars are a light grade of clay, meaning they're all the same. For most people this is enough. Unless you are doing some real gnarly surface prep on an extremely neglected and contaminated surface thats all you'll need. Stepping up from there you can get medium and heavy grades of clay, but more often than not these are more aggressive than necessary and can even mar up your finish. The key to picking a clay kit is going to be choosing one that gives you a good size bar (check the box for gram size) and a high lubricity lubricant. IMO the spray that comes with the mothers bar is much better than the one that comes with the magic kit, but again thats just my opinion. Hope that helps.
  9. Gonna be a hard thing to find... if I remember correctly arrival blue was the lowest production number color, then top that off with the fact it was only offered for 2 years. Good luck with your search.
  10. Thats odd... with the SSS and the TBSS I've occasionally been forced to fill up at shell stations b/c there wasn't anything closer... like clockwork each time (in both vehicles) I got knocking and pinging. My dad has had the same problem in his vette... we both now flat out refuse to buy gas from the shell stations around here... Hes exclusively Chevron w/ Techron and I run Mobil 91 exclusively. Its happened far too many times over the past few years to be coincidence.
  11. That'd be pretty amazing to see considering the stock wheels don't have a lip on them
  12. Not even worth my time to point out all the flaws in the logic.
  13. Paid mine off a long time ago... I love not having a payment.
  14. Still find it really odd that someone signed up, posted this one thing, then never came back. Employed by Surf City much??
  15. If anyone decides to order anything shoot me a PM... I have a discount code that could save you some $$$$
  16. This car came to me in pretty bad shape at 9am Saturday, much worse condition than I was expecting. Compounding the issue was the owner needed it done by 3pm... so I had a total of 6 hours to completely turn this thing around. Sadly the majority of the pictures I wanted to take didn't get done b/c I barely finished in time. Luckily I was able to employ my friend for the afternoon to take care of the interior and trim work so I could spend all my time on buffing out the paint. Needless to say the owner was blown away when he came to pick it up and gladly paid the "RUSH" price I gave him. PROCESS: * Foam Gun strip wash * Claybar * Foam Gun rewash * Dryed with QD spray and WWMF towels * 2 passes w/ Swirl & Haze Remover, Orange Pad @ 6000opm * 1 pass w/ Fine Machine Polish, White pad @ 5000opm * Corrected paint stains, heavy scratches, and etching w/ the new 4" pads on my trusty Craftsman cordless drill + Swirl & Haze Remover. * Rebuffed those areas w/ another pass of Fine Machine Polish via white pad * Engine bay was scrubbed down w/ APC and dressed with VRT * Inner fenders all scrubbed with APC and treated with Invisible Undercarriage Spray * Rims were buffed out w/ a powerball & Mothers Original Chrome Polish then treated to a coat of Rejex, finished off w/ a coat of Brilliant Spray Glaze * Tires dressed w/ VRT * Interior completely scrubbed down w/ Adams Interior Cleaner * All leather dressed w/ Adams Leather Conditioner * All other trim treated w/ VRT * Carpets were extracted using a light mixture of woolite dark & hot water * All glass was clayed, hit with Invisible Glass, and finished with Briliant Spray Glaze. * Lastly all the paint was treated to 2 coats of Americana BEFORE: This is after the original wash, these spots were all over the paint, couldn't be removed w/ clay or the PC, so I turned to the new Adams 4" pads and went to town... completely obliterated the spots which appeared to be some severe etching or staining on the paint. At first I thought it was just water spots, but you could actually feel the clear there was lower. I'll have my test and review of the new pad system up this weekend hopefully... stay tuned. As you can see the last "detailer" who cleaned this car up was a hack. The entire body of the car was this bad, some areas were even worse. AFTER: Hows this for depth? And of course the obligatory reflection shot
  17. Thats pretty cheap for an inside and out job... try to see if you can find out more about them before handing over any money... referrals and testimonials are HUGE when it comes to detailers. Like was earlier stated there are tons of yahoos out there who get their hands on a buffer and all of a sudden think they're a "detailer". Where are you located BTW... if you're local to some members there are more than a few guys here who could probably help you out, myself included.
  18. So you finally added the pink racing stripes and the "cowboy butts drive me nuts" mural to the tailgate?? Its cool man.... if you like to dress up like a woman and walk the streets on Saturday nights looking for love who am I to judge, I just refuse to call you Bangcock Betty... weirds me out no matter how good you look in makeup.
  19. Gonna post dig this since my name was tossed around... I knew my ears were burning For the record the product I was recommending was DER Stuff. Great product for novices and those who wanted a simple 2 step program for maintaining their paint, it didn't have a ton in the way of polishing ability as it was only slightly abrasive, but if used in conjunction with a machine (rotary or DA) it could get paint looking really good. DER was actually forced to close down due to VOC regulations (something I just recently learned) Zaino isn't a bad product, not something I personally use, but its good stuff. 1BAD2K was right when he stated the Zaino product line is more about hiding imperfections than about removing them, IMO thats not really the correct way to go about caring for your paint. Thats not to say Zaino can't be used AFTER a car has been corrected to give it shine and gloss, but I wouldn't rely on Zaino for a swirl removal tool. I think the ONLY actual "polish" they offer is Z-PC, everything else in their line is a means of hiding swirls or enhancing gloss... not a bad thing, just not the way I approach things. In reality to rely solely on ONE company for all your products is insane. Nobody has the best solutions to all the problems, and to be honest there is no one right solution. In my supplies right now I have MOSTLY Adams products, but I also have stuff from Optimum, Mezerna, Poorboys, Mothers, Chemical Guys, Migliore, etc, etc, etc. There is no one be all end all company for every step in the process, for every paint condition, for every end user. Blind brand loyalty is for people who don't make their own decisions and let a salesperson tell them whats right. Now, that being said my personal preference for most of my paint care is Adams. I firmly believe they offer some of the best products for paint care, not to mention customer service that is unmatched, support that you won't get from any other supplier, and a finish that never ceases to make me smile. Have there been cases for me when Adams hasn't been the right choice? Yep... I've needed more aggressive compounds than Adams offers for some customers, I've needed longer durability out of a sealant than Adams had to offer for certain conditions, and for those I've gone to other companies to meet my need. There is nothing that says if you choose Company XYZ that you have to use all their products and only their products. Part of the joy in detailing is experimenting with process and product to find combinations that meet your goals. In the end I guess all that matters is that you're happy with the end result, but keep an open mind when it comes to choosing products. One company might have swirl correcting products and waxes down, but have crappy car wash and leather conditioner. Another company may have the ultimate wax but couldn't get a swirl out to save its life.... its the nature of the business. I'll close on a little example of what Adams products specifically designed for correction via DA polisher can do: BEFORE: PROCESS: Washed, clayed, & dried 2 passes orange pad w/ Adams Swirl & Haze Remover 1 pass white pad w/ Adams Fine Machine Polish 1 pass gray pad w/ Adams Machine Superwax AFTER: THE FINISHED PRODUCT:
  20. Rockstars? Really... such a tired wheel design IMO. Why not find a better (less played out) wheel that already has the finish on it you want?
  21. The decline of civilization is evident from the complete and utter lack of any consideration for the use of proper English on the internet. My friend, who is a teacher, regularly tells me about papers she grades where kids use IMO and LOL in written assignments they turn in. I've seen some of these essays... literally no punctuation, no attention to spelling or grammar... its really sad. These are high school kids!! Young adults who will soon either enter the workforce or go on to college and despite her best efforts my friend says they have NO willingness to learn how to use English. Text speak and internet slang have become the new American vernacular and it depresses me to think of how much worse things will get as a result.
  22. SwirlWOW is more like it... I'd just as likely wipe my truck down with a cinder block wrapped in barbed wire as use one of these.
