  1. BLUE-RAY has way more potential then HD-DVD. you can fit much more data on a BLUE-RAY disc then HD-DVD can. and the picture is better on blue ray as well. basically it is like comparing a regular DVD to the capacity of a cd.

the only thing that sucks about both of them is you have to have a HD TV that is full 1080. many clam to be hd but if it is not full 1080 then you would be waiting your money

full 1080 is not required... 720p or 1080i capable TV's will display an HD picture... don't forget progressive is measured in half screens while interlaced is measured in full... so technically speaking its 1440 vs 1080... but thats a whole other argument. Ideally everyone should look into a 1080p set

  2. I've seen/used/sell both, and each has its ups and downs. If I had to guess (and thats all it is at this point) I'd go HD DVD... my reasoning:

HD DVD is required per manufacture spec to be backwards compatible. This means ALL players must play all types of DVD's. Most blu ray players will too... but it is not required and some of the cheaper units coming to market will not play regular DVD's. People are more likely to adopt a technology if it doesn't mean they have to replace their entire movie library.

Pricing is key at this point, and not only did HD DVD beat BR to market... they've priced themselves more competitively accross the board.

Brand recognition. Everyone knows what HD means (high def) and everyone knows what a DVD is so logically its an understood technology for the general population. Blu Ray doesn't mean shit to most people right now unless they've been following the technology.

Cost of prodution. HD-DVD disc production only requires a simple retooling for the discs to be produced by places currently producing regular DVD's. This means studios don't have to sink a substantial investment in producing movies for sale. BR on the other hand is an entirely new production process... this may account for the expected higher price for the discs.

Studio backing is irrelevant at this point as most studios will want to make money in both platforms... those that don't will have to eventually to keep competitive.

REMEMBER... the better technology doesn't always win (even though in this case they're pretty much dead even) Just look at Beta vs. VHS... VHS won out, but most people will tell you BetaMax was a superior format for home movies.

SO... thats my 2 pennies... take it for what its worth... I'm not an expert, but working in the industry I'd like to think I have some inside perspective.... only time will tell for sure.

  3. Its staying pretty mild as its going to be the DD and "dad-mobile" as my wife calls it, once the baby is born. All I've done so far is cat-back, intake, and some minor tuning.

Things on the agenda is a dyno tune, which I've paid for already... just need to get over to Van Gordon's (probably take a day off next week)

I was going to drop it, but I've heard nothing but problems with both the DJM and McGaughy's kits... Jon's contact at Beltech says theres something in the works so I'll wait for that.

Other than that I've been talking off and on w/ Thorley's about a custom tri-y header setup... but thats not gonna be an easy thing to accomplish... the front of the TB doesn't leave alot of room between the block and the frame.

I've been shopping for a C10 to build up... just haven't found the right one at the right price yet... thats where all my mods money will be spent when I find it. Plans are a nice 22" combo, layed out, 6 link, and a crate 350... just a clean show/cruise truck.

Seems like lately every spare $ has been going to remodeling the house or getting ready for the baby.... hopefully I'll have some disposable cash by the time I find my project.

  4. Awesome stuff Chase... you are just taking that truck to another level. I gotta get the TB out there one of these days, maybe after VGB gets the tune done I'll plan on meeting up with you guys. I wanna see your truck run in person. :driving:

  5. Dude, get the exhaust done before you do the dyno tune, It will be well worth it on that LS2. That small single exhaust they come with is way to restrictive :puke:

Already did a cat-back w/ a magnaflow muffler. I wanted to go dual, but the spare tire gets in the way, don't want to cut the rear bumper, and I'm still trying to keep this half way practical... so the custom catback was the only option I had.

  6. They're doing the right thing, just as GM does... if something isn't safe then recall it and save the lawsuit....

Ford on the other hand prefers to just deny there is a problem until someone is killed or seriously injured. IE - explorer tire issues, spontaneously combusting f150's, etc.

Can't fault dodge for doing the recall... and can't call them crap... we've had our fair share of recalls on the GM side too.

  7. UPDATE:

Our furniture started showing up today for the "living room" and the movie theater seats for the theater room.... mmmmmm.... leather recliner w/ 63" TV  Looks like I'll be flying up early next week to give everything a once over and we're open for business!! The interior decorators are coming in on saturday to place area rugs, furniture, and some decor items.

  8. Like the rest of you said, in some cases all these guys want to do is make the $$$ and ESPN's top 10.

Dylan to answer your question of why they dont do the bounce pass anymore...Its because these kids dont go to college to learn the fundementals of the game anymore.  They go straight for the shoe money, and huge NBA contracts.  I think it should be a 2 year college limit, not this 1 year BS David Stern puts in there.

100% agreed. Nobody does the 4 year college stretch anymore to LEARN THE GAME... all they do now is go as soon as someone will offer them a contract. I can't fault them b/c they're just doing what they think is best, but I always think of the opening of the Basketball movie when I watch the NBA anymore... the whole thing making fun of how pro teams are now a days.

I just stick to college ball now... much more entertaining to watch IMHO.

  9. Same problem that has plagued the NBA for some time now and just continues to get worse. They can't play TEAM basketball to save their lives. All these guys care about is getting in the top 10 on ESPN each night, getting that signature shoe deal, holding out for $20million when they already have a contract for $19million.

The NBA hasn't been the same since the time of the showtime lakers, the chicago dynasty, the badboys of detroit, or the celtics w/ larry bird and probably never will be again.

I challenge you to do something. Watch ESPN classic's when they show the Lakers vs. Celtics games... Magic vs. Bird.... count something as fundamental as a bounce pass.... then watch a live NBA game the next night and count the bounce passes.... I promise you you'll be astounded at the difference and thats just one stupid little part of the game, but it makes a difference. Why don't they do it now?? B/C it doesn't make highlight reels. :banghead:

    :endrant:

  10. This is what I've been busy doing for the last month....

As with any project unforseen factors have slowed the progress of getting our grand opening on the books, but we were prepared for that. B/C I get so many PM's about "whens the new shop gonna open?" I figured I'd give you guys some progress pics... tomorrow and friday we are doing the final bit of work, programming the control system, calibrating the audio and video... and we're offically open for business!!

Last friday we completed our Integra powered "basic system" w/ the 63" plasma mounted over the faux fireplace... the neighbors already hate us.

105watt per channel Integra DTR6.6 sourced with a brand new NVS7.7 HD media PC, 8" Speakercraft AIM3 speakers in the ceiling and a 250w stable forward firing 12" sub.... we turned it up and started knocking things off our neighbors wall... and this is the SMALL system :head:

Anyways, enjoy the pics... i'll get some of the BIG system once it goes in.... we'll just call that the "No Compromises" system as we didn't compromise on ANY of the components or installation :read:

  12. Thats awesome dude!!! My sport is spear fishing and I love to get away for a couple of hours. You really disconnect from the world when you are out in the ocean, it's natural medicine!

RIght on!! I scuba w/ a Hawaiian sling... I love to spear fish too... you're right... it does make you feel disconnected from the world for a while. And nothing tastes better than seafood you caught and cooked yourself IMHO.

  13. Ahhhhhh... I feel 100x better. Things have been so hectic at work lately and I'm just overwhelmed. I decided to take a Friday and get some sport fishing in. Getting out on the ocean for 12 hours, drinkin beers with some buddies, catchin some fish, and smokin some cigars really took the edge off. Heres a couple of shots I took... I'll upload the rest when I have a chance later:

First catch of the day 30+lbs Dorado thats Scotty on the left and my boss/friend Justin on the right. Nice fish... took about 20 minutes to get him in the boat... he was a fighter.

About 30 miles off of Dana Point we ran into a pod of Dolphins... there had to be about 100 of them feeding in this area... then they started pacing the boat.... it was really cool

This guy was hanging out as we were carving up some of the Yellowtail's we caught.... looking for a free meal.
