Since your asking, my vote is no, never.

I had an 04 SS and traded for an 06 SS and am very happy with it. The traction control works GREAT! If you want to burn out, just take off the TC. I actually bought the 04 in spite of the AWD not because of it. But, as the old saying goes, differant strokes.

It may be a repost to you, but I've never seen it.

Actually, there are several new features on the 06 over the 03. Electric fans, probably a moon/sun roof, a plus for sun roof is a much more solid roof in the truck, a 14 bolt rear end, 3 stall homelink garage door openers, even though the 06's have drum breaks on the rear, they work great, the pedal feels the way it should, chrome wheels are standard, and the xm and onstar now share the same antenna and of course don't forget the new hood. I just traded my 04 for an 06 and am very happy.

Rather than trim the bumpstop, just remove the u bracket that holds the bumpstop and then bolt the bumpstop directly to the frame. It's a bolt on deal. Once you look at it you will see what I mean.

I did a 2 inch rear drop on mine and before I installed the shim, I took a fast test drive. No problems at all. I didn't even bother to install it. I have lowered 2 SS's and haven't used shims on either one. It has been my understanding that the thick part of the shim would go to the rear of the truck. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I did a search and came up with this, I hope it helps. You dont need a PCM tune for your VIN, I never gave Bryan @ pcmforless my VIN so you should be fine as long as the tune is for a SSS with a 6.0 L.... Install PCM per Mister P How To... 1) Try to start the truck(it should start but die right away)leave the key in the on position for atleast 11 minutes (the security light will remain on for 8-10 of those minutes).... 2) AFTER the 11 minutes the light should have gone out (if not thats ok), now turn the key to the off position for about 30 seconds. Now try to start the truck again and it should start and die right away, Leave key in the on position. 3) Once again w/o turning the key to the off position, Let the truck sit for 11 minutes, after 11 minutes then turn the key to the off position for 30 seconds. 4) Retry again to start truck, it will die again and follow same thing as before for the last time. After the third time it should start right up. And then you can go test out the new beast P.S. Make sure to turn headlights off, radio, subs, amps and any other accessories....Since this process takes 30+ minutes your battery may die if you are blasting your radio while trying to be patient Mister P seems to know just about eveything.
