  1. If you guys are talking about Go Cart World off of the 405 and Carson St, that's right by my pad. I'll tell you this, parking sucks ass there. The lot is hella small and the only other option is to park down a long street that runs parrallel to the 405. Actually, the street is a dead end that takes you to an RV place. Since I didn't make it to the last one, I probably have no pull, but I'd be down for a BBQ/potluck/kickback, etc. Everyone just bring some things and with maybe an 18+ truck turnout, there would be ALOT of food! I was reading how some people didn't like all the driving with the last meet. With a BBQ/potluck, we all could just eat, drink, listen to music, and conversate. Also, people could bring their significant other and kids for the turnout. More of a casual thing instead of having to worry about going somewhere. Maybe at the end, we all could take a cruise somewhere and if people wanted to roll out, they could.

Another good show that is on right now on National Geographic is America's Port. It gives people just a glimpse of what I do for a living.
  3. Nice pics and vid. Alot of stock looking trucks. I should have went! Oh well, next time.
  4. I don't even have time to do that!
  5. Bump this up so people don't have to go and look for it. I should be going to look for granite on Saturday, but you never know. I'd like to go, but at this point, I just want to finish my kitchen.
  6. Actually, if you look through the thread, I never said I was going so how can I flake? Anyways, my kitchen cabinets are going in today and I'll probably end up going to look for granite this weekend so more than likekly I won't be there. Hence the reason why I never commited. You guys won't miss my pile anyways. If I can make it, I'll just show. If not, you guys have a good time. I know Palms is very nice and hopefully it will be clear so you all can see Catalina from there. I remember the STS meet. Bitchen ass weather that day.

  8. I agree, bad ass, big $$$ wheels for sure. I hope your ready to be polishing as well unless you got them coated.
  9. I say it's a bunch of crap as well. I've had mine for over a year without a hiccup. If everyone is soo worried about the lights turning on real quick then off during start up, just turn the key faster. I did that this morning and the lights didn't turn on until the truck was on.
  10. If your talking about the Bubba Gump at the pike, that might work out good because there is a huge parking structure right next to it. There is also ALOT of places to go if any of you decide to stay a while like the Aquarium of the Pacific, Pacific theaters, Gameworks, bowling, and all kinds of places to eat. You can even take a cruise of the port from there. The Pike in Long Beach
  11. Last time I was there it was free so that tells you how long it's been for me. I know alot of locals hang out there as well. I also don't have a clue as to what the parking situation is now a days. Hopefully people can find it. I know if your not paying attention, you'll go right past it. Other than that, it should be cool.
  12. I'm no expert, but I don't recall our stock stereo having any inputs on the back. That is if you are talking about the stock stereo. Plus, if it were that easy and the sound quality was great, I would think everyone would have done it by now. I have an iPod hard wired into my Alpine which resides in my glove box. I control it via the head unit and it's out of sight. If you don't want to get into a new head unit, I can understand because that's where I was at before I upgraded. I'll tell you now that I'm glad I did. Some Alpines aren't that expensive and even come iPod ready now a days.

    So Confused

No problem. BTW, here is that thread. http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/index.ph...&hl=snuglid
  14. I'm curious, why did you need to remove the torsion bar set up? I've seen many, many McGaughy's installs posted here and never have I read where one removes the torsion bar set up. I'm not questioning your abilities, but with that first paragraph, it already seems like you were making it harder on yourself. I have that same drop and I didn't do what you did.

    So Confused

Sorry, but that is incorrect. The lid will fit over the stock SSS tailgate cap. I'm surprised no one has said anything yet. I was one of the first on this site to get the Snuglid SL on the SSS . There were ALOT of people asking if it would fit back in the day. Do a search under my username from way back and you should find the thread. Once again, the bed cover WILL fit over the stock SSS tailgate cap, no need to get that ugly tailgate cap.
  16. That diner would be cool. I've driven by there when there was a show going on, but never stopped by. Man, I might have to make this one since it's in my backyard.
  17. I don't think it would be a matter of ride quality for me per say, but rather dependability. I just don't trust those axles on Chevy's. I would probably be a little hesitant to do certain things with the Chevy as opposed to the Ferd with the SFA. I guess I'm just old school, so when I think 4X4, I think one big @$$ axle in front. As for the ride quality, I would hope there have been leaps and stides made by now when it comes to a staight axle up front. The last 4X4 I owned with a straight axle was an '88 Chevy K5 and YES, the ride quality was harsh.
  18. I have something like that myself. Here you can see how I have it mounted on the wall. You can see in that second pic that the box located towards the top of the pic is wired to a lower box. These two boxes DO NOT have power running through them. At the bottom left of that second pic, you see a 4 gang box which has power run to it. The way I set mine up is I plan on purchasing a power conditioner which will be plugged into the 4 gang box (bottom left). The TV, audio receiver, and basically anything else I want power to go to will be plugged into the back of the power conditioner where it will receive clean, undisturbed power. As for the TV there is a really thick wire that came with that kit in the first pic that will run from the back of the power conditioner to that 2 gang box to the lower right. Remember, that box and the box above are not wired for power. The bottom box will power the upper box. As for the other hole in the kit (first pic), that is for any wires you want to run to or from your TV like HDMI, RG6,CAT 5, component video, S video, etc, etc. There is a somewhat similar box like the top pic that is located at that 2 gang box below it. All those other wires are for my 7.1 surround system. I have 4 Speakercraft directional speakers located in the 12' vaulted ceilings. There will be two tower speakers along with a center channel speaker and the woofer which I also have wired in the walls. I installed everything in the walls so there is nothing to see. Anyways, I hope I didn't confuse you too much.
  19. What up Erik? Sorry to see you selling it. I never got a chance to see it run. I'm interested in the braided lines and pads if you want to sell. I got the same year so shoot me a PM and let me know how much if they are not spoken for.
  20. Actually, no. What is happening is the feds are lowering the rates to the banks and the banks aren't passing it along to the borrowers. They are taking it for profit. So when you see the news saying that the rate has been cut to 4.75% or whatever, that is not what you or I are getting. We did that math and I believe we would save something like $45.00/mo. without pulling any cash out since we are already at 6%. That doesn't seem worth it to me because the whole point of me looking into this is to try to finish my backyard. Once my backyard is done, my house is done. That doesn't concern me at all simply because I'm not going anywhere. If the house goes upside down, it's really not my problem, it's the banks problem. I'll continue to pay my mortgage like normal, let them worry about it. Now if I was planning to move, then it would worry me because I would get raped, but then again, I still have 70% loan to value so some equity is still there. I just added 1200 square feet with a 500 square foot garage so my home is set up for me and my family for many, many years to come. I figure in about 5-7 years, the market will correct itself, home values will be on the up and up and we'll be cool. Since I'm not going anywhere, I have nothing but time. Dylan, like I told Eric on STS, I have a gal who will close for $2500.00. If your interested, let me know. I got her good faith estimate and I'm looking at $2496.70 in fees. You can't beat that. The lowest guy I had was $6200.00, screw him! See that should only worry you if you are considering to sell your home in the future. If you plan on being there for a while, who cares if the house goes upside down? I'm with you on buying things the old fashioned way, but I got an estimate on my backyard cement and it came in at $10K. I figure to cover it like I want, it's gonna take another $10-$12K. Ain't no way I'm gonna save for that. At least not for a while and I want my backyard done now. That's pretty good, but what kind of fees are you looking at?
  21. I know I can't be the only one. I'm very interested in Bush's $168 billion economic rescue package which includes raising the conforming loan limit to just under $730K. Not that I'm in a "jumbo" loan because I'm not, but because I've heard that if this is signed, the interest rate for the housing market may start to rise. That is what I'm afraid of because I'm interested in a re-fi for my home which will knock off some interest on the back end. I just don't want to jump the gun right now because what if the rate continues to drop? I'd also like to maybe pull some cash out to finish my backyard. My current loan rate is 6% which is not bad, but I'm able to get a lower one right now. It wouldn't be a whole point though. I have looked into a re-fi and as it stands right now, I can get a 5.625% rate on a 30 year fixed with some cash out and my payment jumps up about $100.00. People may be saying, "what are you waiting for", but what if the rate falls just a little more where it would be a whole point? It would just sweeten the deal even more and I'd hate to miss that. The flip side is the rate starts to rise and I miss the boat. I know no one can predict the future and that is not what I'm looking for. I'd just like to start a discussion to see if there is anything more I or anyone else for that matter can learn. I'm sure we can only help each other when it comes to this topic.
  22. I'm also a non believer of the Bose systems. I just added 1200 square feet to my home, the family room is 24' X 25' and I plan on doing a 7.1 surround system. I've done some homework and asked alot of questions. I made provisions for 4 Speakercraft directional speakers to be installed in my vaulted ceilings. I could have done the front speakers in the walls, but I'm partial to the big towers sitting on the floor. Maybe a manly thing, who knows. I haven't made any decisions on what towers I will go with, but I will be going with a Denon reciever and some type of power conditioner. I have a 5.1 system built around an older Denon in our other family room and I love the way it sounds. My opinion is that your system is better built around you. There may be some things you want that Bose doesn't offer. Todays recievers have many, many features that IMHO puts Bose to shame. Bose is like the quick fix for people who don't want to deal with having to do some research. There is nothing wrong with that at all. If there is a market, so be it! There is one thing that I'm kicking my ass about and that is that I only ran one RG6 cable in the new family room. I should have ran at least two. People told me to do it and I didn't listen. Now it would be a major PITA because of my 12' high vaulted ceilings. Anyways, I'm rambling now. Listen to what some of these guys are saying. Make provisions for HDMI cables, if you can install a telephone line in back of your TV, that would be good so when you decide to order movies and such you don't have to use the phone or computer. At least two RG6 cables and piece your system together. It may be a little more expensive, but it will sound ALOT better and you'll be able to expand later.
