  1. BTW, in a post where you are obviously acting the salesman for your company (and *rightly* so), don't try to get all high and mighty and claim you are not. Especially when you are arguing up a tree. Now, I'm done with you on this, because you've either seen my points or you never will (or never will admit it).
  2. Listen brotha, you're the one who brought up the quick buck comment. I just said if you keep getting this feedback from different people, you need to look for the common denominator... YOU. And so you know where I'm coming from, I ran one of the first procharger kits way back in the day when they started with the 5.0 crowd. Nothing new there man. I like 'em already. Just don't confuse that with carte blanche to spread rumors and talk smack. I like maggie's too. Doesn't change the fact that a turbo will out perform both. Since you want to flout education, I have a bachelors, a masters, and Ph.D... But back to anything that means anything in this conversation... You want to make the claim that STS kits are vulnerable to heat soak, and its just bullshit plain and simple. I don't care where you work or what you are trying to sell. Drive on out to LV, I'll hook you up with a few cars to "hot lap" on I *might* be in a very good position to know what I'm talking about on the sts kits, since mine was installed before you joined the site and has never had a single problem (even in 100*+ weather). Further, I made 600 hp to all 4 wheels on the dyno run during which I set the spark plug wires on fire and lifted at 5300rpm... at 14 psi... on a mustang dyno... on 93 octane... with an ambient temp of 98*... Not to mention that it was tuning run and not a glory run for numbers. Gee, I wonder why the fastest remote mount guys don't bother with this sight much... really strange ain't it, considering they all *used* to post here... You want to promote your own products and opinions, have at it. Just don't present an obviously biased post full on inaccuracies, dumping on competitor's products, and expect not to be challenged on it. Plus, it's just not a smart way to do business.
  3. There is little or no heat soak from an STS kit because of: the design of the oil system, and 2) the placement of the big heat generating device we call a compressor. The oil system itself acts as an oil cooler and has been tested. I set stuff on fire from using stock exhaust manifolds (plug wires melted and then the wax caught on fire), with no increase in ECT, or engine oil temp. Further, the underhood temps once I switched to suitable headers are the lowest I've seen with any hipo set up I've seen tested. Period. Procharger's ICs *are* very good, but telling people a front mount, belt driven SC hanging off the front of your engine in the engine bay will not heat soak your engine as much as a remote mounted compressor is... questionable, to say the least. Even people who hate STS just because its an STS admit it's the best thing going in terms of heat soak. Maybe you need to re-evaluate your "facts" if you are constantly getting feedback from folks to the effect that you seem to be trying to make a fast buck...
  4. I tried to validate this as Robin often gets a bunch of political quotes (the thing about bush in the last election being the stand out example) attributed to him falsely. I can't find any "official" site where this can be verified, but as expect a ton of blog sites, etc., that list this, and at least one site that claims it is not true. I'd likely say the text is either exagerated from one of his routines (pic looks like a USO shot) or completely made up. not that it isn't completely funny and ironinc ;)
  5. The STS will give you more power up top than either option and no heat soak I know plenty of LV guys wo love their sts kits, and I am not in the business of selling superchargers or turbos
  6. 10 psi intercooled with 44# injectors and a fuel pump should be 550-580 to the wheels. F8l went 12.3 with a 5.3 and a little more boost (13psi I think). Quicksilverado went 11.35 on a bored 5.7 (to 6.1). Allen went 11.90 on a stock, 100,000 mile lq9. Oh right, though they didn't post here so it doesn't count
  7. If everyone was pulling short, the dyno was adjusted wrong. It's very easy to make a dyno read high or low. An inexperienced operator can completely mess up the numbers...
  8. Because of the manifold's tendancy to flow more air to #7 and being too close to the edge AFR wise.
  9. Max you'll want to run on a stock LQ9 (10.1:1) is 10-12psi. 10 if longevity is a goal, IMO. The A2A is worth it. It's on all the time, regardless of meth availability. I ran meth only on my LQ9 up to 12psi with no problems, but over the summer, I turned down the boost. I also had to run very limited timing to do this. I tuned for max boost and left it so I could flip the switch whenever I wanted. If you go to a 2 bar OS, this problem goes away for the most part. You'll want a "GT67" which is a custom garrett wheeled TO4E -- no lag to speak of, and can carry you through max boost on the LQ9. You'll want an intank pump (255lph should do it) and 44# injectors.
  10. You be the judge ;) Most of the graphs you see follow the last 200 years -- maybe 1000 years at best and claim to be definitive... Like all the who-haw about hurricanes... Hurricanes are cyclical on a 30 year pattern. Guess where in the cycle we are?
  11. By chance do you have a link to this data? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Man you're fast Updated my post btw. Let me see if I can get a link.
  12. The most interesting thing I discovered recently is that today's atmospheric CO2 is at one of the lower points every recorded. When you graph CO2 across the time frame of know CO2 readings, you guessed it, we're sitting admist the lowest trough every recorded. For most of Earth's history, CO2 levels were exponentially higher than they are now. CO2 levels are not even rising at the fastest rate ever recorded. It is true that mass extinction events occured and that scientists believe the cause may have been CO2 levels, but those levels were like 600x what we have now and two of the five occurred when CO2 was DECREASING. More shoddy science perpetrated by the media.
  13. No shit. Glad things are turning around for you here <{POST_SNAPBACK}> At this point I will believe it when I see it, but I'll try. A very reputable local salvage yard has a 10K LQ9 for $2822 out the door including a $300 core. I would keep my engine anyway this turns out. I really want my truck back, and I'm sure it will be 2 weeks before I get all of the parts back due to having to order pistons and the machine shop wait. I am gonna give the guy a chance...I just have a gut feeling that he isn't being completely honest. We'll see...... Dave <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you can, get the deal in writing. Tell him you want to see all the part numbers, etc. on an invoice or shop letterhead for insurance purposes (you need it if you are going for a "stated value" policy anyway -- e.g. Allstate only covers $1000 in mods).
  14. One day a farmer was woken up by his wife nagging him. She nagged him as he dressed, nagged him through breakfast, nagged him as he hitched his mules to the rock sled, nagged him all morning as he pulled rocks from the field, nagged him as they walked back to lunch, all through lunch, and on the walk back to the fields. She nagged him all afternoon until he was done working. As soon as he unhitched the mules they bolted to his wife and kicked her to death. At the funeral the preacher kept seeing women walk up to the man and speak to him. He always nodded in response. The preacher also witnessed men walk up to him and speak, to which he always shook his head no. Perplexed the preacher asked what was going on. The man told him that the women folk kept telling him what a great woman his wife had been to which he nodded. The men kept asking to buy the mules.
  15. Which dohickey? The one that has the thingamajig on it or the one on the whatsyamacallit? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well this dohickey has both a thingamjig and a whatsyamacallit ;)
  16. I finally got my trouble with the rivets sorted out (air hammer was dying and finally died... With the new one, they popped out in 2 minutes) and went to through the DS spring up... No go. The bolt that holds the bar eyelet to the caltrac dohickey hits the belltech hanger. I clearenced it (aka cut out about an inch out of the hanger) and not it will work. Trying to decide if I will do any welding now that I cut up the hanger... I will post some pics when I've got it in final form.
  17. Did you pay cash or cc? If cc, get the 3 estimates in writing and then call your company and reverse the charges. I've done this in an automotive setting with a single estimate and had my money refund (on two occasions).
  18. BenKey did a 410 (412??) and 1slow01z7i did a 418 (additional stroke).
  19. Mine don't make a sound... But I paid for a high dollar rebalance and used a race engine shop for the machine work. During break in, I occassionally heard a soft thunking at cold idle, but thats all gone these days.
  20. Damn sorry to hear about this! But you are okay and that's what really matters. Tell your apartment manager to come on out to Orlando and kiss my ass
  21. Yep. Its been done on an H2 by a guy named C.Harris over on Pt.net. He has a complete write up.
  22. Updated the HOWTO thread with pics. See: http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/index.ph...13entry306013
