  1. This is great news for the citizens of DC. It's been too long now that the "gunless" utopia of DC has withheld firearms to law abiding citizens while the thousands of thugs commit crimes on an hourly basis. Too bad the "general" population within the district doesn't see this as a good thing. The average citizen there thinks this will increase crime. :uhoh: Saw a lady interviewed on the news last night whose son and nephew were both shot and killed within the district and yet she thinks legalizing them will lead to a problem... I suppose that the guns used to kill her family members were fired from Maryland.

I worked in one of the rougher neighborhoods for just over a year. Police came to the office just after we opened it, warning everybody not to stay at work after dark and to avoid eye contact or stopping near loitering "groups" on the side of the street.

  2. Hey Joe,

    Looking good there.

I shot Reynaldo an email about the P0101 code, it can (and needs to be) fixed within the tune. Should take him all of 1 minute to update the tune and flash it in for you some time.

    Justin

  3. i would think you would need to have two probes on two different cylinders to get an idea of the difference rather than the average temp.

:withstupid: Reading on one cylinder isn't as important as a variation reading.

If you're really concerned about that one cylinder, I'd weld a bung into that primary and run another wideband vs a pyrometer. They were much more prevalent in the gas tuning world before the advent of the inexpensive wideband.

  4. The author of the article above is nothing more than a journalist what gives him the credentials to write this?

Shawn Tully, editor at large is a dumbass plain and simple.

And what credentials do you have to counter his experience as editor of a economics-focused magazine?

No insult intended whatsoever, I'm just curious.

Based on my schooling, I have to give the observation a bit of credit, as there are many valid points.

  5. Many people laud FDR and his presidency; but the way that I see it, FDR introduced into America the idea that everyone is entitled and now after a few generations of that attitude take a look at the mentality of our own kids and American citizen's belief they are entitled to <you name it> low oil prices, free medical treatment, tax breaks for the rich, a cushy job, rettirement, on and on and on... FDR galvanized that thought into the American conciousness with the passing of Social Security and the rest of his New Deal. You can no doubt tell I am not a fan of FDR's policies, they have not only turned out to be expensive in the very long run but have corrupted some of the underlying thinking in this country that brought America to greatness in the first place.

You and me both Steve. I've gotten a lot of flack from people when discussing my extreme distaste for the road FDR set us down on. In 80 years, we've gone from having social services that are a fly speck on the annual government expenditures to it now outranking national defense (and every other facet of spending). :shakehead:

  6. they're main objective is not to help us out at all, they are out for themselves and themselves only. and to realise this you must find out who really owns the oil companies and why they are doing this to find the reason behind it all. untill you do this, you will be left with these kind of unimaginable questions. i don't want to blurt it all out, all i can do is point you in the right direction if you really want to know these truths.

They are for-profit, publicly held companies. They are owned by millions of people collectively. To sell at a lower cost while the world market dictates a higher price would yield little benefit considering the level of importing we do.

  7. Why cant companies cut their profit margin to help us out??? I mean seriously if they are making record profits it isnt because they are barely charging enough to get by

Their profit margin in terms of percentage is very small relative to other large companies. 7% profit is not much.

It would also hurt just about everybody that has a 401K as well, considering many funds utilize some form of oil investment.

  8. Is there no end to this. I know some of you have stock in this here but the rest of us dont and don't have the money to even get into stocks like that. Its getting out of control to the point that the US is going to stop over night and we are all done. I can't pay $10 for fuel at all. My next question is whats the deal with deisel? There is no reason to pay that much for a fuel with very little to no refinment at all. Big oil is ****ing the US truck industry. Why, so they can line there pockets with cash. F'en dickheads.Oh well you can't say that we are in Iraq fighting for oil now. :fume:Is there no end to this. The EPA is LARGELY to blame for the price of diesel. In fact, the EPA is largely to blame for much of our refining and gas mileage issues. Why can't we have lean cruise in our cars here to get better gas mileage? EPA. Why are there 18 separate gasoline formulas in production around the US? Some form of EPA whether it be federal or state.

The oil companies are NOT the root of the problem.

  9. Oil prices are never going down. I said the same thing here is 2005, and was ridiculed.

As the author mentioned, peoplethought the same thing about the housing market and dot com. Much like those two situations, this current pricing system is driven by speculators. Frankly, I'm one of them with about 10K in BPT, PBR and USO now. USO went up almost 8% today alone. :)

  10. I'm planning to try to do an SSS and add the sensor in. From there I can work on a flex fuel file to make it all work and read that sensor.

It is nice Justin. I've had Tunercat for 96-07' trucks unlimited for quite a while, but it's nice to not have to worry if the damn thing is going to read or not. Tunercat is very buggy with my newer laptop. With the old Gateway it worked very well, but on my new laptop it has about a 60% success rate. Before the end of the year I'll be over 100 credits spent with HPT and at $50 per credit, ouch...

The cost definitely adds up... I just paid for my year's GM SPS subscription yesterday... $995 to program factory calibrations... Ugh.

  11. Congrats on getting the licenses. Feels good to not have to pay for individual licenses now, doesn't it? :) It's great to be able to give tunes to friends and family without worrying about the cost.

    SS_bnoon_SS:

Regarding E85 on stock SS injectors... It would be sheer insanity to run over 4000rpm at WOT on that tune... Stock injectors are too small for gasoline on a stock SS, let alone E85 needing nearly 50% more injector. If you're just putting around town, that's fine, but I'd strongly suggest limiting the throttle angle in the tune to prevent yourself from accidentally mashing the throttle and leaning WAY out.

  12. i know that the dyno jets are good for WOT sweeps, but i heard its real hard to tune on it since you can not achieve a certain amount of load

The term is steady state tuning. Something that can't be done on an inertia dyno.

  13. Of those listed, the AEM would be my choice as the solid winner. The dyno numbers (~2hp difference) can be explained away by a very slight adjustmet of atmospheric correction due to temperature. All compensation factors from run to run were within .5% difference. The telling points about the AEM are the amount of intake restriction (MAP), IAT stability and total airflow. This was also shown in Reynaldo and Art's previous testing of a few intakes out on the street a few weeks back.

  14. hell on the 100 shot with those injectors he wouldnt need to pull any timing really...i would call zippy and tell him to put you at round 25-26° but from what i have seen on scans that i have done you are already prob round that timing...the cam you have will like the nitrous...just not as much as a cam like mine

Injectors and timing are unrelated... Especially considering that he's planning to run a wet shot.

Personally, I'd suggest pulling 3* of timing for a 100 shot. Chase's truck saw no improvement in power from 2* of timing retard vs 3* of timing retard, so no sense in running a 2* reduction.

  15. The results showed that they were all significantly better than stock. We'll have to wait for Reynaldo to post the results, as I let him run all of the dyno tests and didn't get to see much of how they ended up. I only know which one won and by how much. ;-)
