  1. Got the TC in! WOW! What a difference! I can't take it to the track until Thanksgiving but in the little bit of street driving that I have done, I can tell that the results will be at least 5-7 tenths in the 1/4 mile!
  2. For some reason the Trailblazer TC has a higher stall speed than ours. Servos are an internal part of the trans but I'm not sure what they do! Sorry!
  3. I'm not sure what you will need to not hurt the truck but while you're in there you should upgrade to billet or corvette servos and a billet accumulator piston. Oh yeah, a trail blazer or other higher stall torque converter would be nice too! Other than that, just be sure not to mess with the line pressure in the pcm too much after the shift kit. That's what causes breakage. Good Luck! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> what exactly is "should upgrade to billet or corvette servos and a billet accumulator piston. " so if i just get the shiift kit and dont mess with the pcm i wont need anyhting else you think or i should get those things you said <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well you don't "need" those other parts however if you're gonna take the time to open up the tranny you may as well spend the extra money and really see a difference in your performance. If not, you can do servos only and increase line pressure in the pcm for neck-snapping shifts or you can do a shift kit with very little (i prefer none) pressure increase and get virtually the same results. In my trans, the stock accumulator piston was plastic and will break eventually so moving to a billet one makes more sense to me. Basically, in my opinion, the trans is the weak link on these trucks and most of the breakage your read about here is caused by crazy line pressure and not enough upgrades on the "hard" parts inside the trans. I have a reletively mild tune with a shift kit, servos, and a 2600 stall TCI converter and I have had absolutely zero problems. I am not an expert so if you really want the straight scoop, pm Zippy...he is a transmission God!

  5. Check with Remac Transmission in San Dimas. My buddy Leo there is adrag racer and has done all of my upgrades and, unlike nearly everyone on this site, I have had zero breakage (knock on wood!). 909-592-1006...ask for Leo and tell him John Joines sent you. Hope I could help.
  6. I use Lucas or B&M Trick Shift Synthetic. Mobil One is good too.
  7. Hey Jon, I think Wilson Manifolds makes one. Wilson Manifolds
  8. Excellent choice. With programming it should be worth .3 or more. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What programming do you recommend Zippy? I already have the torque management completely removed and the shift RPM adjusted to 5800. I previously was running with a 2600 stall. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well Zip, maybe I'll send my pcm to you when I get it all installed as long as you promise not to break my transmission like everyone else!!! The shift points may be off initially with the new converter which can change some things. What you'll find more though if you're doing your own programming is that you can change the timing curve quite a bit at the rpm it stalls at and below. Changing the timing curve down there will make it even more responsive yet on top of having the higher stall speed converter. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  9. 14.50's Dylan...trust me! I beat one by 2 thousands in a heads-up time trial in Bakersfield. If it's cool you may go 30's. Good luck! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Like chase said... I'm thinking 13's... the 2wd's have been running in the 13.8-14.1 range bone stock... the AWDs are in the mid 14's... with the CAI, exhaust, and dyno tune I'd hope to see something in the 13's... the only thing is launching. I've tried a couple of times to brake stall and launch, but it just spins too damn easy (391.5 ft lbs + stock tires = shitty traction) We'll see... I've got all day to figure it out. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well good luck with that! My brother and his team prep that track pretty well so it ought to be plenty sticky. Just drop that tire pressure!!!
  10. Yeah good point...I'm not sure if the one I ran was AWD or not plus I'm unsure of Dylans mods. My bad! I hope for the best for all you guys. Be safe...

  13. man you gotta make it one of these times. try and aim for the dec 2nd. should be an interesting day <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That would be a good day...nice and cool, but I'm taking the CBEST test that day. That's right, I'm going to be teaching the youth of America someday...about drag racing and horsepower!
  14. Love to make it guys, but...I'm having my engagement party. After a long season of racing this year, I gotta give a day to the future wife, sorry. My truck is slooooow anyway. Have fun!
  15. Mine held out til 60K (60K of oure hell I might add) and the day this happended it was cold out and I did not warm the truck up at all and hammered hard pulling out of the driveway....fluid was not evven pumping good yet. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I see. Gotta be patient my brotha!
  16. Just a question??? Nearly everyone on here has had tranny problems except me. Is it because I'm not running that much power, is it my mild tune-up, or is my tranny guy better than all the rest? I'm starting to get a little nervous because I race my truck nearly every weekend and I can't afford any problems. What's the deal? Plaese chime in with your thought? I currently run a 2600 stall with a shift kit, vette servo's an billet accumulator piston shifting at 5800. I'm going to a 3200 stall very soon. will this cause breakage for me?
  17. Here's my new converter. It came highly recommended from my tranny guy. I decided to step-up to 3200 stall since my SSS doesn't see much highway use anymore. It's made by precision industries...9.5", lock-up, 3200 stall! Should get me into the 13's!!! And it's a way cool color!!!
  18. I'm a fan of the black as you know! I say do it!
  19. Any body know a good cam size and brand for a virtually stock motor (tune, intake, p&p tb, short headers, gutted cats) with a 3200 stall? All ideas would be appreciated! P.S. "great" drivability isn't the highest concern since my SSS is now mostly my drag car. TIA
  20. I am going to start trailering my truck and using it for drag race purposes only and I'd like to run no intake (straight into the throttle body). I see a lot of racing camaro's do this. Can I delete the MAF in the computer or do I need to fab it up somehow?

    Help!

Thanks, knew I could count on you!

    Help!

Do I need to or should I disconnect my pcm while changing my battery?
