  1. I would guess closer to a million.... on the light side.
  2. How can this be? I look at restoration projects, where the only thing worth saving was the frame, and the VIN. What other numbers on the body MUST match? I can understand where the VINs are altered, or missing. What if an accident occurs, and they have to order replacement panels? Don't get me wrong. Any time I see another ricer destroyed, I rejoice.
  3. Towing 2900 lbs should not be an issue. My Dad (too cheap to spring for the HD) towed across the states and back. 1800 miles one way... with his 5.3 liter. Trailer weighs 7400 lbs. Plus all of his crap. He didn't have any problems, but I wouldn't have done it with that truck. He was WAY over the tow rating. Still no issues. What part of Wisconsin are you heading to?
  4. We have a "cussin' cup" sitting in the kitchen window. My kids collect on me. $.25 every time. They do pretty well on the Packer games.... I usually give them a 20, and tell them to let me know when it's used up. I never really know where the money goes.... I just know it doesn't end up in my pocket.
  5. I own both an '03 Silverado SS, and an '07 Impala SS with 5.3L. The car will run circles around the truck. Now, the '04 Impala SS with 3.8l on the other hand, would be close to the Silverado SS. A friend of mine at a body shop owns an 05 impala SS, and the 5.3 is a little faster.
  6. I watch the weather, and don't know why. They're telling me what's gonna happen in the next 10 days, and they can't get the weather right for today, or even tomorrow. Chance of 10 days of rain about 10%.
  7. Not to mention, this happened on PRE-RACE INSPECTION. They used the WRONG brackets. There were 2 different styles that were being tested at one point, and they used the wrong ones. Now, if it were caught AFTER the race, I could see that maybe a fine would be in order. However, the brackets are mounted externally, where EVERYONE can see them (I truly believe they didn't know any better), and they were caught before the race was even started. Send him to the back of the pack, maybe, but $100k? I think they're trying to make an example. They also don't like the Nascar world to be 'rippled'. He made BIG news the week before, and they're letting him know that he's not 'above the law.' The cars are almost identical. They're trying to make everyone run the same. So, as to make the race more competitive. Otherwise, Chevrolet would be disqualified... Kinda like bringing a Jet boat to a canoe race.
  8. We have a Boston Terrier too. Her nails scare the $hit outta me on the leather. She knows she doesn't belong on the leather, so she rides on the floor only. She won't even attempt to get up on the seat.
  9. The reason Sr. didn't leave it to JR, was he was too young and inexperienced. Now, he's got some miles on him (no pun intended), and between he and his sister, can figure out how to make a living by racing. Bottom line is he needed something more from a race team, and she wasn't willing to spend the money, or give him what HE felt he needed. That's why he left.
  10. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-Chevy-...1QQcmdZViewItem What is it with morons that can't figure out how to put the SS on the side of the door???
  11. I guess I did know that... they introduced it in 2004 -- in Texas. If memory serves, it was around the southern parts that it first was shipped, right? Either way, this is a wrecked SS that was repainted.
  12. In 2004, they did not have a VHO, 6.0 H.O. was only available in the SS. The other thing is it's an AWD. It obviously was an SS, that was wrecked, and you can buy the 'chromized plastic' stuff pretty cheap. I'm guessing they took a hit in the front end.
  13. Me too. Especially since she's 68.
  14. Funny you should mention that. I just decided today to go and tell the boss that I'm gonna request a paycut for me -- I want to make exactly half of what I do right now. No reason, other than, I can work twice as hard, to make the money that I'm making right now. Let's say @ 1.50, they're making 10% on margins ($.15). Why would you take $.15 on a gallon, when you can take away $1.65 per gallon??? I agree, you'd have a lot of friends.... But realistically, don't you like money? When you sell on E-bay, do you end your auction at the first bid? I can see what you're saying, essentially, doing 'the right thing'. I wish the world worked the way that you are saying. But, it's not 1950's Pleasantville anymore. People look out for #1. Companies do the same thing.
  15. I bought a set of them back in January. UNBELIEVABLE. I've not had traction like this, than when I had my old truck with the REAL 4wd. They ride quiet, and smooth, and they look good too. I didn't want a high grip tire that looked like CRAP. The best part was how much they cost. I spent $140 a piece -- mounted and balanced.
  16. I mounted mine off to the right of the steering wheel... I'm kinda long legged. I didn't want to hit the thing everytime I got in the truck. Mine plugged into the wire harness, but then I had a fuse to put into the fuse box -- it didn't plug into it. Did you have to drill the fire wall?
  17. I think you'll be happy that you bought your prodigy. I had an electronic in my old truck -- ripped the sucker out. Every time I'd pull up and us the hazards, the braker controller would hit the brakes. Yeah... that was cool.
  18. ESN is Electronic Serial Number... It's an 11 digit number found on the phone, usually behind the battery.
  19. I just had the same situation a month ago. I have a contract yet with my phone company (Alltel) for another 8 months, but my phone took a crap (actually my wife washed it in the washing machine... go figure.) I purchased my new phone off of e-bay, took it to the local alltel guy, and they swaped out the ESN on my phone with my new one. I wasn't even charged a $35 activation fee. The only thing you have to do, is make sure that the phone is setup for you phone provider (Cingular, Sprint, Alltel, etc.) Also, make sure that the auction reads that it's a new phone or at least has a clean ESN.
  20. I had a similar situation last summer... It cleaned up fairly easily -- but I washed it off right away. Concrete guy felt so bad about it, that he offered to have the truck repainted. I FLEW to a car wash -- pressure washer wand type. Then, when I took off all the chunks, I went through the regular touchless wash. I was nervous, but it came right off. I would try a pressure washer with LOTS of water. Whatever you do, DON'T rub it. That will definately scratch the surface. Good luck -
  21. We were recently in the market for a new car too. Saw the solstice/sky, but just didn't have the practicallity we needed. It's the car my wife drives to work, but we still need room for junk. As we were walking out of the dealership, saw a Pontiac G6 2 door hardtop convertible. Seats 4, lots of trunk space (can get it in the GXP) No more wind noise than any other coupe. The ride was still stiff (as with any convertible). Very nice car, well put together. We left with that on our minds heavily... then drove an Impala SS. We ordered one on the spot.
  22. Nope. Black, White, and Red. 1990-1993
  23. Agreed. However, if you decided to go a different route, make sure it's inertia activated, and not electronic. Inertia basically can tell how hard you are putting the brakes on in the truck, to determine how hard to apply the brakes on the trailer. Electronics are time delay... After 1 second of braking, it applies the brakes to the trailer... then another second or two, it applies them a little harder... and then after 5 seconds... etc. If something jumps out in front of you, you don't actually get the full braking potential of the trailer for about 5-7 seconds.
