  1. Was trying to figure out were I went wrong
  2. Heard that one in a different form but still
  3. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reduced Power Mode friggen sucks. Went out to go to work today, get in my truck start it and all of a sudden it says Reduced Power Mode . Shut it off and restarted it a couple of times and the same thing . Ofcourse my scanner is at the shop as it should be. Well I limped it a half mile to my dads house hoping to get a ride with him (yes we work together) but he had just left. So I snagged his Tahoe I get to work and he's like and said you think thats a community vehilce Anyways Went at lunch to pick it up with my rollback and it started and ran fine . So I checked it with the scanner at the end of the day and not a code or anything. Everything check fine and I have the new SNAP-ON VERUS. Yes it is a bad ass Scanner. Anyways this is not the first time this has happend. A couple of times while driving at night when I hit my high beams (I have HID's for high and low beams)the truck bucked and one time it went into Reduced Power Mode It only started the after the accident . I did change the location of the ballast when the front end was apart nothings wired wrong so guess I'll figure it out when I get some time.
  4. You may have an issue with the vicous clutch in the transfer case. There is a 65/35 split but the rear wheels shouldn't spin even on wet pavement, they will slip a little but grab. You may need to service it, I would use the GM Autotrax fluid and add a posi friction modifier.
  5. I just got my Firebird tuned and running, I was just test driving it and that dam gaurdrail and bridge jumped out in front of me There was a news report that said the weren't sure if speed played a role Um well I'm no rocket scientist but
  6. I have Pacesetters on my truck and they are great. They bolt up great and if you not going to run cats (like me) they will connect to the factory exhaust easy. I my cats off right behind were they are welded on the pipe (rear of cat). I bought the Flowmaster ball flange kit from Summit Racing. The kit is a 3' to 2.5' kit. The 3' slides right in to the header and the 2.5' slides on to the stock exhuast. After they were slid on I bolted the ball flanges togetther and weld the other ends to the headers and exhuast it worked better than I thought. I have pics somewhere and I now I posted them on here when did it about 5yrs ago
  7. you need backpressure, it directly effects HP and Torque. To big of an exhaust can hurt ust as bad as to small. Smaller pipes can increase low end torque #s slightly but kill top end. Larger pipes can hurt low end numbers but increase topend. Thats why you see alot of variable valve timing is on the exhaust cam, tuning the exhaust changes HP and Torque #s. Superchargers and turbocharges are also affected by backpressure. Most engines run about 65% volumetric efficiency, performance engines run about 80%. Nascar engines run about 110% volumetric efficiency due to ineriacharging. The exhaust is tuned to pull more air into the engine and create a few # of boost in the cylinder. My buddy had a GTO w/LS2 that the guy wanted 1 7/8' headers and would not reconsider and when they dynoed the car it had less torque than stock. It took some fancy tuning t oget it back to normal. All he needed was 1 3/4' for a light mods. If your not sure what to for exhaust look on sites like Flowmaster, Magniflow, Headman and other exhuast companies. They spend alot money on R/D.
  8. Something does not add up. I ran 14.1 with a CAI and a Flowmaster.
  9. Already made the paypal payment oh wait I was dreaming
  10. Thats alot of work. Mine needs it, just painted and wanna make shine. Feel like doing mine
  11. sound great I hope all goes well and I can make it. If it does I'm up for a group ride, I'm a couple hours north of ya.
  12. Here's mine. Need to finish the grille and give it a good detail and have my buddy do some professional pics. Also going to paint the rims gun metal gray.
  13. Hell if all goes well (money and time) I'm up for it. Went to the Vette city meet a few years back from Fl.
  14. Use the Autotrax Fluid. It has the friction modifier in it for the viscous clutch set up in the AWD Transfer case. It helps keep the clutch from binding on turns. This has been a GM fix in the AWD Astro's, Bravada's and other GM AWD trucks. you can use ATF but I would recommend a Synthetic ATF and add the friction modifier for Posi- Diffs, works the same way.
  15. Shop in Green Cove Springs Fl. specializing GM tuning had a cookout last Sunday. Their were probably 20-30 late model GM's there and a few others. http://www.rivercityperformance.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1321&page=15 There is a pretty good forum here in North Fl. www.rivercityperformance.com
  16. Sweet Truck. Just out of curiousity were you the one looking for somebody with a stock SS to swap drivelines before trading it in. My friend said he had a friend of a friend who wanted to do just that plus a few bucks.
  17. Yea I know how you feel. Washed my truck one day and found the left rear 1/4 and bumper cover scratched Guess their lucky there I didnt catch them
  18. That clear film can cause just as much damage to paint the elements can I've seen it fade, crack and peel. Usually when you go to take it off it will take the paint with it, so repainting be needed anyways.
  19. That was because I told him not worry about the extra taping. I have the Herculiner in it now. Will have more pics later.
  20. I have a suggetion for the site. I know I'm not the only one that has searched this site for something on our trucks i.e - lip spoiler (last thing I searched for) Z06 brake swap, Trailblazer torque conveter etc. There should be a quick reference guide for the common things on our trucks inc;uding parts that seem to just give the best bang for the buck. Not a how to guide or a for sale guide those are on here and not thread anyone can post whatever but member suggest to moderators on things to add.. This should just be a page that has the part with number if available and where to get, such Z06 brake swap brackets. It can also include things like the common things that fail on the trucks like the A/C cycling switches, drive train parts and so forth. This wil be real helpful for many of the members including myself. This should also be a page that as a link or something on the main page easy for members to find, NOT a thread that gets lost when people dont use it. If anyone else has some ideas on this lets here them... Sorry guys posted in wrong topic, can a Moderator move to comments?
  21. Just goes to show you if you take care of your vehicle it will last.
