  1. For the last couple of months I've had a noticeable rattle at idle that I'd be damned if I could find. At first I thought for sure it was something loose on the exhaust or the exhaust touching the frame. It was loudest at idle and but it wasn't tied to engine rpm. In fact most of the time when I revved the engine it would go away. Well, I crawled underneath at idle and I could hear the noise but I couldn't find anything that wasn't rock solid. No loose parts and nothing touching the frame. But the noise was still there. Well today it got so bad I thought something was going to fall off so I took it into the dealership. Turns out I have a loose piece of metal inside my right side cat. Thinking back to the time I was under the truck that's what it sounded like. I had my face in front of the cat and could hear the noise but couldn't find it. Oh well, I feel better now knowing that nothing important is going to fall off. Live and learn! Regards, Dan
  2. I was suprised just how crappy the stock brakes were. I did the stainless steel lines alone and they made a big difference. Regards, Dan
  3. Just a quick update. Received my parts today and that's incredibly fast. Exceptional service from SAEParts. I would definately recommend them. Regards, Dan
  4. Spoke to Karen at SAEParts today and they still have the brake ducts for $99.95 a pair. Great service and super nice to deal with. Regards, Dan
  5. Just when I need a set of brake ducts the often quoted ebay source seems to be not working. Does anyone know of any other sources? Regards, Dan Brake Ducts
  6. Has anyone seen one of these gauges yet? Edge Performance I saw it on Trucking Universe and it looked pretty cool. Regards, Dan
  7. From one Canuck to another. Here's a place that has nice 6.0l short blocks for $3750. Canadian Performance Engines Regards, Dan
  8. I had my front diff rebuilt quite a while ago and I'm getting the feeling it's going again. The signs are the usual low speed grind when switching from first into second at low speed when it's cold. Also something new this time. It seems to load the motor ever so slightly more when cruising under light load in fourth gear and grind. Both symptoms make me thing that there's some play in something and it's deflecting under light load. The puzzling thing is the oil shows no metal so the shop that rebuilt it is concluding all is fine. Referring to the pic below does anyone think there might be any movement detectable in the driver's side output or the pinion shaft if something is out of whack? Regards, Dan
  9. Look at the PLX gauges. Customizeable faces! Expensive but very cool! PLX Custom Face Gauges Regards, Dan
  10. I lost my front diff bearings at 40,000 miles. Posts here make it obvious this is a common failure. Try and get GM to admit that though.......... Regards, Dan
  11. Thanks! You gotta like a good Porno! Regards, Dan
  12. After having an up close and personal meeting with a snow bank I'm looking at replacing my bumper cover. The instructions in this link are very clear except for one thing. I'm not sure if the new bumper cover I'm getting will have any adhesive or body molding tape on it so I have to be prepared. What does the factory cover have on the top underside of the cover that you have to roll upon installing? Regards, Dan
  13. SOLD! Thanks for everyones help. Regards, Dan

  17. Originally purchased from Zippy 3 years ago it appears that I'll never use them. Going from memory I believe these are rated for 42lbs but flow alot more in reality. Zippy told me that these injectors were one of the keys in getting one of his truck projects to run in the 12's with stock CAI and stock exhaust. All eight injectors and appropriate pigtails untouched since Zippy used them. Rated for up to 550 HP $250 obo + shipping. Regards, Dan
  18. As you can see I run the same cam on a semi-stock 2003 and goes like crazy! No issues. I do have a set of #42s purchased directly from Zippy I'll probably never use. I too planned for a Radix that never got the Mrs's approval. Regards, Dan
  19. Anyone from any country can use the following phrases in a post. Correct? Regards, Dan
  20. IMHO, a response more insightful and accurate than most. Also, in my humble opinion don't be too quick to trash public health care. As you may know it's what we have in Canada and despite it's shortcomings I think it's a better system overall. Watching the american media I believe I can see the 'for profit' medical businesses funding commercials that paints a picture that protects their business interests. Regards, Dan
  21. Has anyone considered that it was insufficently regulated capitalism and ultimately unchecked GREED that was the root cause of all this mess? As a Canadian I can offer you some amusing observations on the american dream not the least of which is why our banking system survived this crisis with little or no impact. Regards, Dan
  22. For a while I've been getting 'Corsa Carbon' on my rear quarter and I can't get it off with normal washing. I have most of the Sonus polishes from the Autopia site but no real experience in dealing with this. Can anyone offer any tips, hints, advice? Regards, Dan
  23. From what I've read the rear rotors in this kit won't fit a SS. Correct? Regards, Dan
  24. The zinc-coated washers that came with the kit failed on my truck due to corrosion. I had them replaced with brass crush washers. I'm lucky that with 30 years driving experience I knew what to do. Regards, Dan
