ah ok the edges look good, the one pic it looked squared off. For now your bro could always go 20 in the rear and 18 in front to lay out.

I can't really tell but looking at the pics of the spring pockets you need to round the edges off or it will stress and crack. Other than that good stuff, I have a s10 project right now that is bagged but needs a lot of attention.

Mr P, need your insight once again. Got a new clutch and installed it along with a new Slave cylinder and pilot bearing etc. Made sure it all went in properly but now the clutch isn't acting like a neutral. Still makes all sorts of noises but I can't tell if its the clutch or motor so that should be fun to diagnose. I bled the ish out of this thing and I have good pressure at the clutch pedal but it just isn't releasing. If I have the rear in the air and put it in gear it doesn't make a difference if the clutch is pushed in or not, the rear wheels still turn at speed. I am out of ideas, only thing I can think of is the new slave is junk for some reason but it is bleeding properly but maybe not enough pressure to release the new clutch...... Any ideas before I have to go round two in tearing it down again?

looking at it again, the clutch hub is stripped, new clutch and slave is ordered so lets hope there is no more surprises!

pulled the trans and the clutch, there looks to be absolutely no grip left so I am hoping this is the cause. I am also hoping the noises I was hearing was metal against metal but will be inspecting the trans as well.

got the truck is the air and will be attempting this soon hopefully, things keep coming up though so who knows. I got under the truck and can see the access holes to what looks like a pressure plate and large gear (forget the name). While in the air I did start it up and put it in gear and I got minimal rotation to the wheels but I did get some, just not much. Hopefully I can get a second set of hands to drop this thing.

well i guess i will try to get that done tomorrow hopefully. Does all the oil have to drained out of the house first before inspecting the clutch? Don't really want to pull the access cover to have oil all over me and my garage floor!

Just curious but how do I get a feeler gauge in there with everything bolted up? Is there an access hole to use? The main concern is the clanking I hear going on when the truck is fired up. it did get louder when I gave it gas but I on;y did that once as I didn't want to cause even more damage. Like mentioned I have nothing in any gear, I tried putting it in every gear just to see if I could get some friction but the wheels still turned freely. If the clutch was burnt up and shot wouldn't the pedal get a little mushy? The previous owner did say the clutch tightened up on him when the truck broke down but the clutch doesn't feel stiff at all. Just from being around clutches and trans with dirt bikes and ATV's this feels like a linkage issue but vehicle set-ups are new for me but I'm sure I will learn pretty quickly.

Well I made my way over the s10 forums but it seems a lot of people get sidetracked pretty easily and since a trans is a trans and a lot of you guys are gear heads I would like to know your thoughts. Motor/trans 99 4.3/5sp I am pulling the trans this weekend hopefully no matter what. I am pretty sure something let loose in there. I can start the truck up but it will not engage any gears, it will go into the slots as if it was shifting though. Clutch has what seems like proper tension and no slop. Heres the kicker, with the truck started I can hear a clanging noise at the rear of the motor and front of the trans. I have been trying to read as much as possible but it seems everything I read isn't my situation although close but most threads people still had a gear. WOuld the input shaft cause this or possibly just bad bearings, etc. Any help would be awesome as my questions seem to get sidetracked on the OTHER forum.

they should of transfered all your numbers on the spot at the store, the flash it to a sd card then load it to the phone. Weird you are having issues texting, I haven't had any problems yet and it keeps getting better the morn I figure out.

Sure why not, like mentioned this whole rear will be re-done. Pretty shotty job to begin with, the welds in a lot of places are garbage. Most likely cut out everything and re-do it or possibly just get a complete bolt on rear kit from suicidedoors. Oh everything is really dusty in the pics.

anyone have any ideas about the trans? I read that with a reverse 4link it is possible to pull the shaft out of the trans due to its lift height if it does not have the proper shocks mounted in the rear. The shocks are not mounted but it looks like everything is still in tact at the trans area. Maybe it pulled out just enough?

just bought one tonight, seems legit and there is a ton of ish on it I don't know so now I have learn all over but so far its badass. I may actually have to read the directions on a few things but I'm fighting it off for now!

digger, kid was asking 2k for it, then said if I wanted it by Wed he would do 1200 because he had to go home. I went there with a truck from work and car carrier and I knew majority of the stuff wrong with it but when we went to load it up and the trans was dead weight I walked away. He hit me up and asked if I was still interested the next day and I told hi $800 and I will come get it. Game over!!

Picked up a new project last night for $800. It def needs some work but if I take my time I am sure I can finish this off coming in at a very low price. Currently it has a reverse 4link which I will be removing and either doing a 3 link or 4 link forward style. Needs some body work done on the bed but I think I am going to try to trade the bed for a stock bed instead. I like those a lot better when layed out for some reason. It has a set of 20's on it but I will prob go down to 18's so i can try to get a little more rubber under me. Doors are shaved, interior is spotless but the motor/trans needs help. I think I might just buy a used 4.3 w/trans and pull the current one and put the new on in. This brings me to a quick question. The seller was not aware of the trans issue when the truck originally broke down. He said he dumped coolant and when he was pulling over the clutch got stiffer on him. He loaded the truck on the trailer and got towed home where he unloaded it and put it in the garage. Not sure of the coolant leak or anything. I got the truck fired up for a quick second and it sounds like the fan clutch is shot but we went to pull it up on the trailer and nothing. The clutch feels fine to me and the shifter seems to go into gear but no forward progress. Any ideas what it could be in case it is something that could be obvious and a quick fix. Would love to move it around without having to push it! Anyhow here are some pics of what I got myself into.

did you make sure the harness adapter's gain isn't up to much? I got major wine from that till I toned it down, now on occasion I get wine. Mostly when the AC is on and I shut the truck off then back on. Kinda weird.

I'm still in the air on this, picked up a 99 sdime tonight and need to get the front end bags re-done so I can get it in my garage, theres still time so I might make it. Geeze that is a far drive!!
