  1. I made the mistake of using -8 an fittings because the ID on the -8 matches the orifice size of the inverted flange inside the cooler fittings. If that didn't make sense...look into either fitting on the cooler and you'll see a flare inside and the hole that goes through the flare and into the cooler(were the oil flows) that inside diameter matches that of a -8 fitting. However i found out the hard way that you can not buy a -8an to a 3/8 hardline compression fitting, you can only buy a -6an to 3/8 compression fitting. So i ended up buying a -8 to -6 adapter anyway. At that point, you've hit your flow restriction so it makes no sense to run -8 line....just go -6 the whole way! I also found out that Earl's(holley product) makes the nicest -6 to 3/8 hard line compression fitting . Let me know if you need anything else! Brad
  2. adding more hp to your motor is going to "slip" the converter to a higher stall. So adding nitrous or a supercharger will alter where the converter flashes at.(as long as the n20 is sprayed right on the launch) Brake stall is usualy like 200-400 rpm below what the converter will flash at. With my 2800 PI i can only brake stall to 1800, and the converter flashes around 2200....but not for long Brad
  3. i have the external bypass but didn't hook it up right now. However in winter i think i will. We had a day here at 27 degrees and on the highway the trans never got over 85. Not sure what the lower limit of the "safe" operation range is but 85 has to be close. Brad
  4. hmmm, i stand corrected Brad
  5. i put mine in the overhead console and used the socal mount that has an LED switch with it. The gauges are hooked in to the switch so i can just turn them on when i want
  6. that would be news to me, however i double checked the web site and it doesn't list the option of removing the turbo. It lists all the options to upgrade to stuff the STI has but not to remove the turbo. I'd be interested to see where your buddy got his info from. and i would think it would cost them more to alter the assembly line to make 1 car that doesn't have a standard feature, and then put a different exhaust system, different manifolds, different pcm, and route all the wire looms different.... Brad
  7. just went on autotrader, everyone i clicked on non STI was turbo, i have yet to see one not turbo. The Reg. impreza might not be turbo but as far as i know all the wrx's are turbo. Are you sure your not thinking of the Talon or eclipse? check the Subaru web site to, and all the wrx's are turbo.. Brad
  8. they are all turbo and AWD. The STI is just much faster Brad
  9. if your only using a TBTC then i would say no it's not worth it. There are some guys on here running some high stalls with a B&M or other brands and they are not having any problems....so i would say the true cool is more of an over kill and the B&M is par for he coarse. I wouldn't worry. Brad
  10. so far i am very happy with the true cool. and it is rated at a much higher btu for cooling. The temp here has only been as high as 50 since i did it, but so far the trans hasn't gone over 120. with the stock cooler i was getting up to 170. Not sure about the B&m but the true cool is easy to adapt to AN fittings and braided lines to.
  11.  my dad told me a story like that about his buddies MG and his 63 409. He'd sit there burning the tires and the MG would just go. It would piss him off to no end. Brad
  12. i think they do high 14's stock
  13. just got off the phone with them...and turns out i was right. They could not make the 19 lbs limit. I told him if they missed by 21% i wanted 21% off my order and he said 4 times I'll just refund your money. I told him 4 times i don't want the refund, i want what i ordered, so after a lot of talking and asking for a manager(who i was talking to again), i got $100 bucks off the order and another week and half wait.
  14. Thanks Zippy, Yeah, I know your customer.... can't wait to see how it all turns out. Brad
  15. problem is i need the damn rims now... i have a set of tires sitting in my garage for 20" rims, and for the price no other manufacture has a 20" rim that lite. Brad
  16. zippy, where is the huge difference coming from between those heads and my motor. We were thinking about 440 at the crank with my motor right? My cam is a little more aggressive then that to, so those heads and intake really make 100 hp more then my TEA's?? By the way I'm sure your "customer" is going to be happy with the set up. i cant wait to hear how it works out! Brad
  17. so i tried to check the web site today and they no longer list the wheel i ordered.....they have the same style wheel but they are saying it is 24 pounds now. I book marked the original web page that had the description of what i ordered and the web page has been shut down.... So i haven't called them yet, but i'm thinking they advertised a 19 lbs 20" rim before they could make it 19lbs. Now they figured out it was impossible and up'ed the weight to 24 lbs. So what can i do? I ordered a 19 lbs 20" rim, and they have kept me waiting almost 5 weeks. This is false advertising right? I'm not sure what they are going to do, just send me the 24 pound rim....or cancel my order and say sorry... If they send me a 24 pound rim, they missed by like 21% Brad
  18. hey guys got the cooler done. works great i went from running 150-170 temps to 114 max and about 98 on the highway. See if the links work http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h103/sha...06/100_2334.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h103/sha...06/100_2331.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h103/sha...06/100_2330.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h103/sha...06/100_2329.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h103/sha...06/100_2326.jpg Brad
  19. call me if anyone is for sure going down there. 414-379-0823 Brad
  20. ok so if it's not raining when i get up....I'm heading down there. If it stops raining during the day I'll call to see if they are open. Hope to see you guys down there. I spent the whole day adding my new cooler, changing tranny fluid, and changing fluid in both diffs. And now i have a new tune to try out as well. Brad
  21. Any car that can run a mid to low 15 pass is a good run for a stock truck. I'm not sure what the Jetta's run, but i saw a GTI running mid low 15's last weekend.....and i kinda thought that was pathetic but if thats what they run, then it's still a good race for a stock truck. If you race a 350 or g35 your going to get it handed to you, still be fun, but you'll lose. And i saw the v-tech civics, the brand new ones running high 14's last weekend, so yeah that will beat most stock trucks. Brad
  22. not all of em are that bad, you just picked about the 2 worst. The regular WRX is a good run, the mazda 6 speed will go around 14.0 with a good driver, and the jetta and GTI are a good run to. I'll tell you what though, the "ricers" are really turning around and making some great HP with awesome weight to HP ratios. The STI, EVO, mazda speed, 350z, g35, SRT-4, maxima, even the v-tech civics are all running pretty damn good. Brad
  23. yeah....they kill us. My truck ran 15.0 stock, the STI can and does run low 13's. I think the Evo's run high to mid 13's. Brad
