  1. 3M Microcut aka rubbing compound...can get it at any auto parts store... http://www.autogeek.net/3mperllrubco.html I would go back with some carnuba or some Turtle wax ICE or NXT afterwards
  2. Probably not at all what you're describing as mine does it when in Park. But I too have a certain whine, almost like a vacuum type whine....But I'm almost certain that it's actually my intrument cluster, or more over, my tach servo....I thought it was coming from my tweater(bleeding through my radio), but nope.... Just throwing it out there
  3. Does anyone know where I can get the water pump pulley nut or what size/thread? I pulled the factory fan off, and left the clutch when I installed the FAL's....
  4. I run them too...Have been for about 2 years now. Only problems I've had is 1:Kill the controller due to an engine detail(note* they're only semi water resistant) Flex-a-Lite shipped an new one out for me over night, free of charge. and 2:The connectors at the controller, despite their appearance, aren't very good. All of mine eventually melted off. I replaced them with some cheapo Autozone grade connectors, and haven't had a problem since.. Other than the connectors, my only complaint is the noise....but they hold a steady temps at 100 degree summers with A/C...so I guess there has to be a trade off..
  5. hmmm....maybe the TC/Tranny as mentioned then
  6. How often does it die? Every single time you put it into gear? Mine would often stall when coming to a complete stop, and mainly on a somewhat cold motor...it got better and would seldom stall on a hot motor....Regardless, I noticed that in gear my RPM's hovered well below 500....when usually it's a solid 600rpm...It also had a "loping" idle if I cranked it with the A/C on... I ended up buying a new MAF instead of cleaning (just to have a new one + spare) and a new MAP sensor....I replaced both, and cleaned out the visible carbon build up just inside of the TB....once the TB cleaner burned out, the issue was fixed from then on out.... My guess it was really just the MAP sensor...as the MAF and TB really weren't that dirty at all.... Also...If you just replaced your battery while troubleshooting this, keep in mind, that it WILL run like crap for a couple of hundred miles(learning mode)...so maybe give it some time/miles before moving onto other things
  7. I think I might have had the same problem. I described it as it almost sounded like something loose inside of the driver side rear door. I still don't know what it was, but I popped the door liner off and reseated it, as well as lubed both front and rear door hinges and latches, which I think was the main issue... It hasn't come back yet...
  8. Form lack of technical terms...the ABS issue that you're having is the anti-lock brake's controller....or it could be as simple as the sensor in the hub....but my bet is the controller as I just went through the same thing...AFTER replacing the damn sensors... The dieing thing is probably just that you need a tune-up....cean topside of the motor...MAF...new MAP senor...clean throttle body....clean intake/injectors...replace fuel filter....replace plugs... But if you don't feel like doing that, try just cleaning the MAF(carefully) and the throttle body and replace the MAP sensor...... Also check your alternator's/battery's charge while running....
  9. Mine has neck jerking/AWD traction/stupid launch(fairly stock)... But it falls dead in 3rd....IMO...That's where I see the biggest hit in performance...of course more ponies will help...I'd love to have a tranny with a couple more gears...like the Denali's... sadly...I think the best solution is to add about a 100 race inspired thoroughbreds
  10. Sure can....$54.54....Two bolts and 10-15 minutes later, you'll have a non-cluncking steering shaft......BTW...Mine is still clunk free..
  11. fooook! I just recently acquired the same problem... I took my 3rd brake light out and sealed evrything I could possibly seal.....I saw a couple of small wet spots when I pulled the light, but nothing that would explain the amount of water that came in... There was alot of water coming in from the 3rd brake area of the rear window(inside)...but my headliner wasn't really wet at all....after I sealed the 3rd brake light, and still had water coming in, I thought it had to be the window....after all, I've had my truck for some time now...and I often bring it to a touchless car wash when I can't hand wash it.....which the carwash is super powerful....never had leaks before....But you saying that you replaced the window has me worried... It would seem so easy to find a leak...it's gotta be either the window or the 3rd brake light...but now I am definetly confused.... Man, I'm getting sooo tired of this.... http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/index.ph...mp;#entry472241
  12. Yup...pull the grill off first...no tricks to it, just used a small flathead uner the grill and your thumb on top and pry that sucker off... For lack of a better discription/terminology, the grill holds the fan in place by means of one way catch grabs...if that makes sense... just pop the grill straight off
  13. You got it...Just pop the plastic cover off of the fan from the inside.....then I just pulled the door seal down a bit...and just kinda pulled down on the headliner to get enough room to squeeze my hand in there and pull the fan out....the wire is glued to the top of the headliner and won't allow you to pull the fan out to where you can work on it(the biotch part)...I just tugged on mine to get it out enough to disconnect/connect the wire... My headliner didn't seem to have anything holding it up in the driver's door area....there is some velcro holding it close to the rear door latch, that I had to pull apart to make enough room to get my hand in.... Once you get the fan out, there is 3 latches holding the cover on...pop the cover off, and gently pull the thermometer up to make room to get the fan out...The fan just pulls straight up....spray the fan shaft lighty and do everything in reverse...
  14. I make it sound like it's beat up, but my truck is in near perferct condition....I'm anal about my vehicles so really, when I say used and abused, I just mean that it's been driven(pullin boats/trailers..etc..)....No garage queens here... I haven't had the carrier bearing problem(yet),,,I just threw that in there, as alot of others have posted about it on here...Mine turned out being the hub bearing...But I've seen pretty much everything else...I was shocked to find so many post on those issues...both here and other forums...My seats are still holding together, but like I said, I'm anal, and the wear is freaking me out...My dash just squeeks...I said cracked, meant squeeks when say I'm driving in my yard(3 acres)...But really It's not that big of a deal, all cars/trucks have their quirks...but a recall on tailgate straps...com'on...how long has GM been building trucks? Anyhoo....I didn't lube/whack my shaft(freakin hilarious)....mine was knocking and banging everywhere, so I traded it in for a new and improved one Both of my seats are fully functional, cept for the heaters...I've played with buttons..LOL...set and reset my memories....See...my driver's seat's heater only stays on for a couple of seconds the first time I try...after that, it'll only stay on for a brief second....The passenger seat isn't as bad, it will stay on longer....but it does the same thing....That's why I was thinking that it was a worn/weak relay, not staying stuck...
  15. I'm so close to dumping this truck...My truck is old(120K'ish)...Turns key like new and I love the truck...AWD...decent power...looks good...But all of these quirks are driving me nuts.... -headlights...high beams are seperate than low beams(fixed with aftermarket relay) -bulbs/fixtures constantly burn out(some have been fixed by installing LED) -Alternator is junk -junk alternator made the already poor battery die -clunking steering shaft -front hub bearings -front diff carrier bearings -dead cluster servos -dead cluster lights -rattling climate fan(above head/head liner) -MAF(dirty)..Map(broke or something)...TB dirty(???) -EVAP sucking in water(earlier models) -ECU learn mode from a battery install(drain/disconnect) -seat leather cracks, regardless how anal you are about conditioner) -plastic dash cracks/sucks Sound familiar? I'm about to rid of it, and fall victim to diesel as well....They have a sweet looking Regency 2500 sitting at my local dealer(need to look into it).... Apart from my little rant....the truck has always fired first lick, and never left me stranded...It's been abused and used....But when everyone else is dealing with it, you have to admit, GM needs to pick up their sack a bit... Back on topic...I hear, what sounds like a soleinoid or a relay clicking under my seat, everytime that the heater turns on/off....BTW...my seat heater turns on for a couple of seconds, then turns off....could it be a simple relay that's burnt up?
  16. Well...I finally fixed everything that I undoubtably broke... No matter how I situated the little fan, it still made noise....so I took the thing out...pulled the cover off, lightly/nicely bent up the thermometer, and found that the fan pulls out easily....I ended up lubing up the fan's shaft with a lubricant that is, IMO, the baddest lube in the world...smells like butt...but it's the best!!! But WD40 will do.....anyhoo...the A/C and heater are now working like a charm...and I don't hear crap from the fan.... the only biotch of it is to get the fan out from under the headliner....
  17. Holy shittles!!!! I must be the biggest dumbazz ever!!! and I probably shouldn't admit my mistake...but.... Mine buzzed too...annoyed the fire out of me...so I would punch it like others had mentioned to make it stop....anyhoo...I thought it was a mic for the onstar/telephone....I actually ripped it from it's mount, moved it over a tad, and mounted my Mic for the BT telephone of my HU(AvicZ2)..... no freakin wonder....my heater has been a sauna...my A/C a freezer...and my blower stuck on cyclone Auto has never worked right for me anyways(before HU install)....at least now, I know where to look.....
  18. +1... These things suck when you drain/disconnect the battery....It took me nearly a week of driving back and forth to work and home, for it to finally learn how to run. Honestly, I don't understand why GM does this. You would think that with all the sensors(emmisions), it would always know how to run. If it's still doing it after several hundred miles, as mentioned...clean MAF and thottle body, and buy a new MAP....
  19. I've had my yellow top for over 2 years now as well as my boats blue top(bought same time)!!! Can't say a bad thing about Optimas...I will say that GM alternators blows....especially the underpowered 105 amp stocker. I have FAL e-fans and 1000w US Acoustics D-class powering 2 OG JL 12w6v1's wired 1.5 ohms with no cap..... as for cranking amps....I installed an Odyssey in my car....and wholy shittles!!! I thought my starter was about to rip the engine from it's mounts...I've only had it for about 8 months, so I have no idea what their life expectancy is....Supposedly it's 10x better than Optima... http://www.odysseybatteries.com/
  20. Mine does it (always has) from right at 80mph and beyond. But mine is more of a small vibration that I feel in the pedals/floorpan....Noone that rides with me feels it, but they aren't anal like I am either. I always figured it was the driveshafts not being perfectly balanced.
  21. I noticed that he never mentioned Delphi...Being that is who actually developed Quadrasteer. From my understanding, there was nothing wrong(electrical or mechanical) with it. People just had a hard time caughing up an additional 5K when signing the papers....So it's life was short lived. Should make for some really mean doughnuts though.
  22. I loosened the latch bolts, had my GF push in on the window and snugged the bolts back up, while she pushed in....It helped somewhat. I think it's caused by the flex in the entire truck....I can sometimes hear it when I hit bumps...of course, better seals would help also.
  23. Quadra-steer should be fun with that kind of HP....
  24. I'm blessed to be viewing the absolute best thread in the world....but sadly, my truck suddenly doesn't seem all that kewl anymore welp....time to go rob a bank.... Amazing build 04Denali...
  25. Mine is still good as well. I still don't understand how the OG one made that clunk...
