  1. I got one ... http://myspace.com/lovescorvettes
  2. A few people told me this mode is good for racing <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It is ... if you want the PCM to think that you have a calculated load increase (IE pulling a trailer), and want to keep the tranny in the lower gears longer than normal. Shifts are usually harder in tow mode, so more abuse to the powertrain occurs. Saves the tranny, but not the parts after the tranny.
  3. I wouldn't go as far as saying that downshifting will never do any damage to your transmission. I had a '94 Z28 Camaro with an automatic that I used to drive like a stick-shift. I flushed the tranny once a year regardless of mileage, However ... I did find myself in the tranny shop for a $1500 rebuild. Pressure plates, lots of other parts, and a whole lotta labor. And the Z28 Camaro in '94 used the Corvette powertrain ... so it was built to take some abuse ... If I were you, I would stop doing the whole downshifting thing. I know it sounds cool, but in the long run, brakes are way cheaper to replace than getting your tranny rebuilt and/or replaced. Just my $.02
  4. If you leave it in 1st long enough (30 MPH), the TCM shifts it out of 1st into 2nd to protect the engine/tranny. Although you might think so, you are never in true manual control of the shifting.
  5. It's possible. I know that some GM controllers burn the VIN permanently into ROM and cannot be cleared out. The BCM may be one of these beasts, but I don't know for certain. If this is the case, then it would be true that a BCM can't be reprogrammed to the year before. Now, on the brighter side of things, I have also been told that the Dealership Techs. found a way to make a module dump the VIN from it's ROM so that the module is re-usable. How this is done ... I do not know. I wish I could be of more help.
  6. Ummmm...Try this...Tie a rope around your neck and shrink it down by 20%...let us know if you are still breathing? No? How come? Oh...you have a restriction? Yeah...remove the restriction. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  7. I do like the silver vs. the white, though. It looks much classier.
  8. And this will be a recall/warranty item for all trucks with this problem? Even those out of factory warranty?
  9. Yes, the special effects WERE jaw dropping! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah ... my jaw was dropped wondering why my eyes were still watching it ...
  10. Could you change "High Output" to "Vortech"? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes we can. Did you look at the website? We have the VORTEC logo we can put in there. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, I saw the site, but wondered if you could change out the words "High Output" for "Vortech" so that it reads "6.0 Vortech" and use the same font. Also wondered if it could be made to run the whole length of the truck instead of stopping @ the back of the extended cab.
  11. It's too bad you didn't ask the cop if you were being harassed, out loud, where say, the in-dash camera would have recorded it. That usually works well here in Charlotte, as we have many 'green beans' that are out looking to make a name for themselves & end up harassing people for no reason. Sorry, dude.
  12. AND make the stripe long enough to run down the whole side of the truck instead of stopping at the rear of the extended cab?
  13. 6.5 inch in the doors, tweeters in the A pillars, and a "4X6" in the rear. its actually a 3.5 inch in a 4X4 plate. there is a sub int he center console too. I think its a 6 or 7 inch speaker. thats all the speakers I have found and I have had it down to metal... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What about the speakers in each of the rear doors? (Presuming you have an extended cab ...) 1 ea. in front doors (2) 1 tweeter in ea. A-Pillar (2) 1 in each rear door on ext. cab models (2) and 1 Sub. below/behind the cig. lighters/cup holders in the center console. (1) I believe that makes 7 ... Where is this faux 4x6 speaker you speak of mounted?
  14. Possibly. Can you post pictures so that I can see it's condition?
  15. I am going to be doing the diffs. in spring. Unfortunately, AmsOil doesn't make a fluid that replaces the GM Blue TxFer Case fluid.
  16. When you do the math, using AmsOil is a clear choice: 8 oil changes in 25,000 miles @ $20 a change is $160. To run AmsOil, which is 1 change in 25,000 miles, you'll pay about $80. (And put the $80 you saved towards that N'Sync Collector's Edition CD Set you've always wanted ...) Plus, you'll see gains in fuel economy. (Which, I know most of the guys on here aren't concerned about ...) When I first got my SS I was lucky to 16 MPG on the Hwy. Now that I run AmsOil 0W-30 in the motor, the Ea Oil Filter, their Ea Air Filter, and the Severe Duty ATF in the Tranny, I can get about 20 MPG on the Hwy. Show me a SSS that gets 20 MPG that's not running AmsOil ... Plus, I noticed much smoother shifting once I had the ATF in.
