  1. Is zippy going to be in vegas to do in-person tuning ?

    160 Stat

I got mine from Lingenfelter on eBay for my 04 (w/o housing) for $19.99. The termosta runs a little cooler, but when you run it moderatly hard, the temps are almost the same as the stock t-stat... crusing on the freeway it stays about 20* cooler, and after some hard runs, its only like 4-5* cooler than a stock tstat. Cheap mod though..
  3. I thought I read that the LQ9 typically puts down 275-290HP to the wheels stock at the minimum? Does the AWD soak up that much HP??
  4. Man ... hes just trying to mess with you. Trust me.... unless he gave you a LEGAL letter/citation/warrant whatever indicating you had to be somewhere at a specific place/time.. then you have nothing to worry about. Dont show up ... he cant do anything. He was off duty, didnt catch you with radar, your not on video, and you didnt sign anything admitting guilt. He wants to talk trash to you to scare you, and he needs to justify his low wages by showing he has more authority because he has an income lower than a McDonalds manager. Dont give in to the intimidation.... he cant do anything. But watch your ass next time Lemme also add that my brother got in trouble by an off-duty cop (3 months ago), he was doing figure 8's in his Camaro Z28, and an off duty caught him. Problem is, he called his on-duty buddies and they messed with him and handcuffed him, but in the end... NOTHING happened.... they made plenty of threats, and they didnt do crap. Not to mention they found some weed in his car.... and they still didnt do shit. They wanted him to come in the next week and talk to them about turning in some 'drug dealers' LOL and they wouldnt file charges..... he didnt show up, and nothing has happend. They just like to F with u..
  5. Damn Chase.. you must be single and living at the parents house to be allowed to spend that type of $$ on your truck... lol. A good paint job will cost over $8000.... my wife would kill me if I wanted to spend that kind of money on my truck again... too much furniture to buy, and stuff for the house!! THIS is the color you should get.....
  6. Being ignorant is not so much a shame, as being unwilling to learn in an unfortunate situation. I take offense to your comment in case you didn't catch my drift. If I blew up my motor with a 500hp shot of nitrous, do I blame NOS, NX or Zex? Reputation is what the world thinks a company is; character is what they really are. ;) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> After re-reading what I posted, i see how you could have taken offense to my post. Sorry to come off that way man... I was meaning to state that you are handling it better or more professional than I would have in the same situation, and thats what I was getting at. Most people wouldnt be advertising and bragging about a company after having a bad experience. I guess after having such bad experience with my trannies, I forget to realize there are others out there who havent had as bad of an experience as mine Krambo, good luck on your tranny rebuild... I was in your shoes, and being that my truck is my daily driver, I understand your situation.
  7. Companies should be prosecuted for selling a $15 pipe and filter for $400... thats complete BS !!
  8. Man for spending over $3K on a tranny that lasted less than 2200 miles, you seem very confident and proud of a company who left you stranded on the side of the road! Not saying thats a bad thing, but you handle it very well... I lost a couple of trannies from some guys who built it at the dealership, and I wanted to crack their skulls open. Now that my tranny shop built me a good tranny (knock on wood) I am happy. But if it was to blow up in the time yours did, I wouldnt be goin around advertising for them right away... lol (Hey everyone! My FLT tranny broke in 2K miles!! FLT is the best!!! Buy from them!)
  9. needs less pictures, more racing video, less talking, and different music.
  10. i called it... the TC lockup.... now give me a $
  11. I will look into that. I notice I start to get a lot of KR when I am on the freeway, and I give it some gas to change lanes/pass, and right before the converter unlocks the KR shoots up to almost 7KR (this is not WOT... but about 50% throttle, just enough to get a dowshift) I was thinking I might need to tune the converter to unlock with less throttle % or something... Also, whenever I am WOT in 3rd, and the TCC locks up (at 90mph) it almost instantly goes from 1-2KR to 5* KR right when the converter locks.... is this something that can be tuned out? Thx
  12. Man, I get KR all the time... sometimes when I go WOT (4th to 3rd downshift) I get up to 7* KR, and it starts to taper down. I usually get 3-5 KR all the time... is that not good?
  13. Yeah, its amazing how much Yahoo profits from advertising. When I was the Sr IT Admin for a Vitamin supplement/protein/skin care company thats primary business model was internet sales/advertising I saw how much profit was made by advertising on Yahoo... and how much they paid them to advertise with them. I would have expected Google to do better advertising wise, but Yahoo is much more dominant. I believe it is because of their Internet partnership with Verizon and others, because they generate MUCH more web/sales traffic than any other company. Damn, that had nothing to do with Blu-Ray OR HD-DVD....
  14. Damn man, thats pretty sick. Yahoo has the cash to go all out, thats for sure. I know that when we did work for them, I was compensated for everything... gas, meals, you name it. Those guys dont mess around. I havent done any work for them lately, as I went from working for a contracting company to working for an IT consulting firm, so I now engineer/implement network and telecommunications projects for small and medium size buisnesses in the Orange County (and some San Diego) clients. Although I do still get emails all the time about ongoing contracts for SBC/Yahoo projects (there are tons of them going on right now). But for right now, I am on disability until January of '07 until I finish my chemotherapy. I do side work inbetween treatments, and I have also been known to do some projector (home/office) and home theatre installs on the side for extra cash. I am not a certified home theatre expert, but I do it because I enjoy the work and the extra cash. Sounds like your company is picking up some good contracts! Sounds like your business will be expanding by a lot in the near future.. !
  15. When I was a contractor for SBC, we were setting up the switches and engineering the backbones for Yahoo/SBC's GigaMAN network, that tied into Qwest, MCI and Verizon backbones. We essentially created the entire backbone and redundant data paths from all major backbones to all of Yahoo's mail servers which 70% of them are hosted at the SBC data center off of Kelvin in Irvine. What it sounds like you guys are doing, is running fibre from one building to the next, not working with any type of backbone and data center telecommunications, which is little stuff. I am sure they would contract smaller companies to do that type of work... so that makes sense. Do you guys physically run the fibre from building to building? Than you guys own trenching machinery to dig and run lines underground? Most buildings already have fibre connected to their NIU's that the telco companies just switch on, and crossconnect it to the suite(s) inside the building. What type of cable runs are you doing?
  16. Well considering Yahoo relies on SBC for their fibre to be ran between the Irvine Data Center and their other data center's, and usually the infrastructure cabling is done by the Yahoo engineer's... like myself when I worked on all of the Cisco and VoIP infrastructure planning and implementation 2 years ago at the SBC data center for Yahoo.. We can agree to disagree, but the main point I was trying to make before the subject was changed to networking and telecommunications was that the 'high end' cable industry is a SCAM and is overpriced. Monster cable needs to go out of business (which they wont, too many uninformed morons buying their stuff). The show 'Mythbusters' needs to do a test on these cables to show the public that these overpriced cables are a ripoff... People would be better off spending their money on chaper cables and properly calibrating their pictures with AVIA or Digital essentials... No need to argue about it... I mean, we are talking about friggen cables here, not religion or politics.... LOL. Its just I am into high end audio/video and am a Network engineer... so I am always up for a good argument... hahah. SOOO back to Blu-ray vs. HD DVD...
  17. A job? Thanks for the offer though man But considering I have been in the IT industry for almost 9 years (Cisco CCNP, Microsoft MCSE, N+) and will have a masters in Information Technology next year, I dont think a/v installs will pay the bills Dylan, I know you work in the 'high end' a/v industry, but you sound more like a salesman than a technical engineer... I am confused? Let me correct you here. 1) 'Accurate' network installs rely on fiber optics because of the LENGTH of the run and the bandwidth needed. You cannot connect several offices/backbones together with twisted pair cable, as twisted pair only is reliable at around 325meters of cable, and thats with a high probability of signal degradation and attenuation, resulting in retransmitted data packets and frame/CRC errors. You go fiber because you can run fiber optics with no problems, and run 10Gb with no problem for miles. 2) People choose CAT6 over CAT5e for a couple of reasons. Length of the run, and to prevent signal loss when running the cable over 250meters. The difference between Cat5e and Cat6 is there is a plastic 'divider' inside Cat6 that separates the 4 twisted pairs from cross-talk, and allows a higher bandwidth (1Gb over copper) with less signal degradation. Once again, this is because we are talking 'analog' data transfer, not digital. A network packet sent over Cat5/6 cable is much different than a packet of information sent over a digital HDMI cable. Comparing network telecommunications cable vs. home theatre wiring/cabling is like comparing apples to oranges, although technologies are similar, they are for different usages. 3) As far as HDMI cables go, in a home theatre setup (yes even HIGH END systems) there will be NO visible difference with a 'silver strand' HDMI cable vs. a Monoprice HDMI cable vs a Monster cable. With HDMI (or DVI for that matter) either you have a picture or you dont. Simple. The data gets there or it doesnt. The build quality comes down to how FAR that signal can travel from the source, to the receiver. The longer the cable, the higher quality the material needs to be for the electrical current to carry the signal (which in HDMI and optical, are data packets). If the cable material is crap, then the signal is weak, and all data packets will not make it from point A -> point B and you will not get a picture. But if you see a picture, then you see a picture. An HDMI cable is not affected the same way a component cable is by quality. A picture over component cable can vary differently through different material... thats when quality counts. Now I do see that some DVI cables can have a bad picture when ran at longer lengths (past 30ft) when running higher resolutions... as in a projector setup ran from a PC over 30ft to a projector. Thats when you would need a repeater. From a salesman perspective, sure... more expensive HDMI/optical cables are the way to go.. From a technical standpoint... if you get a picture with your current HDMI cable then your not going to benefit from the $200+ cables. I could get into more detail here... but I would rather describe this in layman's form on here.. this isnt AVSForum.com ....
  18. Lets think about this. The manufacturers of these 'high end cables' sell these because they know people who spend the 10's of thousands of dollars on their high end home theatres dont know any better... they just think more expensive is better when it comes to cables. Of course they will buy them... and guys like Dylan (lol, no offense man) will sell them because they know the customer will pay for them. In the world of digital broadband and home entertainment, and as we transition to full digital outputs (ie HDMI, DVI, optical sound) there becomes less reason to buy 'high strand count' and 'titanium kryptonite gold encrusted cable' for a shitload of money. These cables carry a digital signal... 1's and 0's if you may.... all the end receiver, being a Dolby Digital/DTS or whatever receiver needs to see are all of those 1's and 0's. Its either you get a picture, or you dont. The basic HDMI cable can carry all the data (1's and 0's) just fine... if they dont, it means the cable is too long and thats when you need to get a slightly better built cable... for long digital cable runs. Or else you need a digital repeater, but thats another subject... Thats like saying you need a super deluxe optical cable for surround sound... negative again. Optical carries LIGHT... that light carries 1's and 0's.... either the reciever gets them all, or you dont hear shit. As long as you can hear something, then the cable is working fine.. all data is being transmitted. Just like an HDMI cable. Next time you go out to Best Buy and the pimply faced tech guy is trying to upsell you to a better digital HDMI and/or optical cable, tell him to lick your balls and piss off But when it comes to component cables... they are analog... YES quality does count.. and so does a 'higher strand count' because the picture is coming over analog electrical current.... interference causes picture distortion and may other problems...
  19. Oh yah, and when it comes to HDMI cables.. more expensive is not better. an HDMI cable only carries a digital signal.. its not analog, so it doesnt make a big difference. You will not be able to see a visible difference with a more expensive cable. If you are going over something like 25-30ft of HDMI cable, then you need to get better quality so it prevents signal loss. But a standard 6ft HDMI cable wil work just fine.. dont believe the 'cable' hype like those scam artists MONSTER cable. Go to www.pacificcable.com for any type of cabling ...
  20. Nah, the Premium PS3 is $599 and the 'bare bones' one is $499. I will stick with the Xbox 360 and the add-on HD-DVD player. I am betting HD-DVD is the standard in the near future..
  21. Damn man.. I hope thats not the case. I dont think belt slip could cause the PCM to see a drop in RPMs? Then again, what do I know.. lol. From what I do know, that could be caused by a slipping torque coverter (as thats right around when it locks) or the clutch band in the tranny going... from what I have heard, a FULLY built 65E is only good up to about 600HP/600ft-lbs, and from the numbers you are running, its safe to say you are right there or exceeding those numbers. Keep me updated what you find out. EDIT: I just thought of this. By any chance is your TC lockup occuring at 5500 rpms in 3rd gear? If thats the case, RPMs can sometimes drop when that occurs... it does on mine.... just a thought.
  22. Yeah, it seems the 65E that the Toy Shop built for us holds plenty of power. I am just wondering -how long- it can hold the power for? I dont think I can expect 100K out of a 65E (unless babied on a stock truck) let alone a built one and 500+ HP. Having a lot of power is nice, but I dont want to feel like it will break down at any time, especially when your stuck in bumper to bumper traffic 90 miles from home I think I am not going to mod my truck much more, just for reliability reasons. I cant wait to see what numbers that thing turns when its all done bro...
  23. Thats awesome man... you sound like me, no matter how fast you go, you want to go faster... and spend shitloads of money doing it I really hope you are thinking of the next step in this process... a new tranny. If you are going to put out more power than you are now, than you might want to think about a 4L80E swap... that 65E is probably at its limits right now as it sits !! Just my $0.02
  24. Are you running the Futral cam still?
  25. Good #'s Chase.... What did you do differently from the 12.6 you ran to this? If I am remembering correctly, the 12.6 was with your old motor and that Futal cam.... and this is a stock motor/no cam ? So the cam might have been holding you back? And were u running 22's w/ the 12.6, and this time with smaller rims? Good job dude
