  1. just to be clear you mean the 4wd bar will work for me right?. thanks again bnoon.
  2. sell/trade/future smog test/fix it tickets/warranty. god forbid i ever need them though, because i dont like any of those scenarios (except the smog test dont bother me).
  3. so i would have to lower my rear another 2" to use it?. personaly i don't like drop shackles, i had them on my 05 and they completely shot the ride and handling on the truck. i think they add to much spring travel making the spring act softer. so i'm not planning on lowering my rear any more then it is now. it already is a 1/2" lower then the front end, and i liked the factory rake, so i just wanted it lowered 2/2 front and back. so if i can't use this bar without lowering my rear end, buying shackles, and maybe having to buy different end links, (hich defeats the point of the good deal) then would a 4wd rear bar work for me?. i'm only asking for future referance since i wont be buying this bar, and still need to lower my front end. thanks bnoon.
  4. hey bnoon, i have an 06 V-max "performance package" truck not the "performance edition" the difference is the suspension is identical to the SS on the "edition" and mine was as high as a 4x4 when i first got it (heavy duty adjustable suspension) but it's a 2wd i removed the 2 lift blocks in the back and switched the u-bolts to the standard 1500 ones.. in the near future i'm going to be getting belltech spindles in the front so it will be a 2/2 drop but i'm guessing that will bring me to a normal silverado ride height? which is still taller then an SS right or wrong?. so do you think i could get this sway bar for my truck?. and when is the sale going to end?... let me know a.s.a.p. i also added a few pics so you can see my rear suspension and the ride height before and after the blocks were removed. thanks.
  5. if the salesman call you, don't let him know how you feel about it. and don't stick with the $27k offer they will come back with $27.5 or something. remember they want your money not the truck taking up space on there lot, they will not turn you down as long as there making a profit.. and like they said above there not marking it up $1k they probably got it for $22-$24k depending on the guy that traded it. offer low like $23k then negotiate up, play it cool and i would bet my life you don't spend a dollar more then $26k more then likely you get it for $24-$25k if you play your cards right and even tell them that there is another your looking at in red with similar mileage and there asking $26k and you know you can get that a little cheaper, you just prefer silver but your not going to pay more for it they can't prove it and won't want to lose your sale to a competitor that should help. my uncle was a car salesman at one point in his life, so i know a lot about how it works. in the end it's up to you, i'm just trying to save you a few grand. edit: i left my pc while i was still typing this up, and finished just now to see you already took a pass. anyway, next time be cool and don't get all giddy it will literaly save you thousands if you act cool, firm, and not anxious at all. think about my advise next time and remmber there going to try to rip every penny out of you, your only making it fair by not telling them the whole truth either.
  6. but first get paid for the cost to replace your bumper and paint whatever the shop estimates it at, the insurance will cut you a check, use it to get a rollpan installed and painted. you may even end up with a few bucks left over! tee hee.. just think of it as compansation for your mental anguish.
  7. hope you sent a pm to holty, it don't count if you just post it.

    Volant

there was actualy a bunch of them.. just search for "volant intake 15153" and it will say "27 items found in ebay stores" most of them allow you to make an offer try to find one closest to you, you can usualy get a cheaper total if you save on shipping as well. if you negotiate well and don't start off to high, a few offers back and forth will get you a good deal. remember to start low but not insulting i would offer like $220 and see what there counter offer is and then counter offer back a little higher, it's a process, but it works

    Volant

i got mine on ebay there was a guy that had a make an offer option in his listing we haggled a bit and i got it for $258.xx (if i remember right) shipped i've seen people pay as much as $350 but the majority seem to have spent somewhere in the high 2's if i find that guy on ebay i'll post it here.
  10. there was enough room for the #5 tube to go down, dynatech fixed it a while ago and redesigned them, i guess obx bought the pattent or rights to build the old style dynatech design, funny how they sell the same thing for $800-$1000 less then dynatech did?. i'm pretty sure yours will make the same power as the dynatechs being there the same set-up. so you would'nt gain anything buying the dynatechs except the better tube is that worth a $100 more hell yeah, worth a $1000 more hell no!.. lol. i would like $10k for mods as well but like you i have a budget, so i had to make sure i bought a system that my truck will not outgrow, if later i decide to go with a S/C/stroker/NOS i know a full duel 3" system will be fine, maybe a little overkill now but it's got to much bottem end anyway. even if i gave up some quality somehow? it was still the best choice for me. now if i knew i would never try to make big power and was going to stop at just bolt on's, then i would definetley go with the obx set up.
  11. he can do like i am and spend a little more to make it interchangable with the stock system?...
  12. well i was realy exited for a minute thinking i got over on them, but being me i had to know for sure... so i called pacesetter and asked them if there "armor-coat" was inside and out like jet hot.. they responded with "line of sight" meaning they spray inside but just as far as it will reach so there is no coat in the middle of the tubes, so still not bad. there price was $664.xx so byunspeed's price is still great imo, there not 100% coated like jet-hot but 75% is still good for a $225 savings. you only paid $460.xx or so that was worth the extra $75 more then i paid, but not $225 at least to me it is'nt. pacestter also told me they recommend using a band clamp instead of a flange, so i'm going to ask my muffler shop what that will change in cost if i go that route instead.
  13. i just took some pics of mine can you tell me if it looks the same as yours?. thanks wody.
  14. yes they are a clamp weld fit. but i'm having mine made into a completely interchangable system, so i'll be able swap it back if needed. so you could add the flange if you wanted. BYUNSPEED has them listed at $374.99 on sale again, thats what i paid for mine shipped heres the link if anyone is interested. http://www.byunspeed.com/product_info.php?...88af9699c599935
  15. hey wody, i apoligize if i came off a bit offensive, i did'nt mean it that way it's just a lot of people seem to go by just what others say, and thats not always the truth. i don't like when people are misinformed about anything, it could cause them to make a decision that otherwise is'nt right. this forum is what led me to every decision on my truck (as far as performance) because i researched it all, but i took the accumulation of it all and formed a decision on what made more sense, not just what one or the other said. if jet hot has the research and you got it directly from them then i guess it doe's make a difference. i do a lot of research on anything before i buy it just to make sure i get whats the best choice for my money. this is the first time i heard that, but i guess thats cause no one ever mentioned it. when you got your headers were the inside tubes and collecter just as "shiney" as the outside?... or was it sprayed in there but not as "shiney". the reason i ask is mine have coating inside but not as heavy or reflective as outside. did they say it made a HUGE difference, or was it minimal?. let me know. thanks.
  16. it was'nt my post, me and riv were just discussing the differences in that topic, he thought the pacesetters were inferior i think the dynatechs are way overpriced and limited in there performance. we did'nt bring up the smog part. well, anyway if you choose not to read it thats fine. i would like to know in what way were the pacesetters cheap on the f-bodys?... is it the gauge of the steel, thin flanges, prone to leaks, sloppy welds?, sorry about all the Q's but i'm just curious.
  17. i know having the coating on the outside is what stops the heat from radiating into the engine compartment, from what i gathered the coating inside was just to make sure the inside did'nt rust as well, which is still a good thing. but i don't think it helps performance. who told you this and what was the reasoning behind it?.
  18. wow quik, thats smaller then they advertise at 2.5" which is still small to begin with. i did a lot of research and figuring out the pro's and cons of a few different headers and it seemed to me, that if i did'nt want a speed bumb in my future modding, that i would want the 3" collectors on the pacesetters. thats what i ended up with, so i got a full 3" duel system. and like you said for that price you would expect more out of them... i think for some reason they gained a rep as being the easiest to install which they are but it is'nt that much more trouble to hook up anything else, and also that they have superior qaulity (maybe you have experiance with them and pacesetters?) but i don't think it make's up for what you sacrifice in power and expense either. me and rivierakid were just kinda debating about this, and everyone is entitled to there oppinion and there preference, and it's all cool now. i think a lot of people thought just becasue they were more expensive that they must be better. you could read that topic to see what i'm talking about "smog legal LT's (almost legal)" or something like that the topic say's?. post back here and let me know what you think about all of it and also if you have compared any other headers, which are best and why?.. i know you've done a lot of wrenchin so maybe you can help straighten some of this out?. thanks in advance
  19. please correct me if i'm wrong, but is'nt jet hot also ceramic coating. if i'm right (pretty darn sure) thats like saying use N.O.S. but nitrous would be ok to. is far as them listing it for a 4.8-5.3 thats right i had to call pacesetter to confirm it was the right part for our trucks. and the black paint won't last long and within a year you'll have rusty headers, i thought about going the cheap way too, but then i realized that the coated pacesetters were already a great deal compared to the rest, so i got the coated one's and they look great.
  20. now that you mentioned it, if i'm not mistaken? they are copy's of the old dynatech. they should have the 2.5" collecter's. i think for the price CNE paid for them there a good deal, even if you got them ceramic coated there still under $800 installed, about the same as pacesetters. only problem i see with this set-up is that funky tube and the 2.5" collecter's.
  21. those sound like a good deal too, although i havn't heard much about them, do you know what size the primary's and collector's are?. i would advise on getting the stainless ceramic coated though, it will keep the underhood temps down a LOT which will in turn help make power, and protect wires from premature failure.
  22. welcome, lot of great info, just use the search and if that don't answer post up a question and one of us will try to help.
  23. i'm not knocking them either, just pointing out that it's why the world is like it is if everybody tried to be nice first it would be great... but it probably won't happen.
  24. thanks i guess i was'nt trying to win any "d*ck" contest.. lol. i just wanted to make clear the differences, so people don't think pacesetters are inferior. it's all about what you want to make you happy and making a decision that fits your goals. were all fam on here so i hope theres no hard feelings?
  25. even if you have 3" pipe, you still have a 2.5" collector. so you can not out flow that collector even chase chose the pacesetters for this reason, i believe he said the quality may not be the best but the performance and cost made up for it. and honestly i have the pacesetters and see nothing wrong with them, the old dynatechs have that ugly awkward pipe configuration, which was'nt easy on plug wires, it was a bad design they had to correct, so how is that great quality?. i stated i'm not sure about the new design. do you have pacesetters to compare next to the new design dynatechs if so let me know whats so much better?. i've already explained even with the cats and muffler shop you will still be a lot cheaper then dynatechs. so again there are pros and cons to each system, i just feel the pacesetters are better for those who don't mind a couple hours at a muffler shop, ordering there cats from another source, and at the same time gaining more potential from there system... are those couple inconveniances worth all that money?, not to me, but maybe to others. sorry if i stepped on your toe's somehow?. i was just trying to make sure that the differnces were explained to the new guy so he could make his own choice. let's not make this a my d*ck is bigger then yours thing, i'm just happy with the quality, size, and flow of my d*ck for the little extra effort it takes to get it workin!....lmfao!
