  1. i've never laughed so hard by myself in my life! it just struck a chord with me or something.. kept visualizing it! lmfao!
  2. Are you sure they mean the 2WD also? Where does this info come from? The dealer brochure clearly states that the Vortec MAX package on a 2WD truck has 3.73 gears. Mike <{POST_SNAPBACK}> had to go check that gt5 code you said sure enough it was there, here is a picture of my data tag (night and crappy little flashlight) 2'nd code from top upper right hand corner, i can get a better one tomorow. also a pic of my front suspension (note 2wd). if you need any other proof let me know.
  3. i have 4.10 gears stock, and i always get better then 20 mpg. only time it drops below that is when i'm stepping into it, otherwise with cruise on at 70mph i get 20+ coming back to lancaster from van nuys (3000ft elevation) and going to van nuys i get 23+ driving habits have everything to do with fuel economy of course when i'm in a rush and or race someone i get WAY less as far as swapping in this 6 speed auto, it sounds great but i'll wait until someone else trys it, gets it to work, and proves it to be stronger then my 4L70e
  4. i definitley want to be there, but i'm not to sure about that 5:am crap thats just how long doe's it last?, and how many runs can each person get on average?. i ain't going if i'm only going to get 5-6 runs in, and have to pull an all nighter to do it, that would just make me why do they schedule it so damned early would'nt the afternoon make much more sense sorry about the rant, it's just that i'd like to go, but the schedule don't work well for me
  5. i have a couple questions... are the pacesetters ceramic coated?, if so where did you get them for $370?, also what part number on the flanges?, and finaly do you have any pics of the install?. sorry for all the questions but this sound just like the set up i need/want. thanks in advance
  6. i'm guessing you mean 29x10.5 or something like that?. but either way if it won't fit on a 16x7 wheel (easy and cheap to get) then it's not worth it for me, at least not yet. i think i'm going to try the 17's and see what happens from there?. but thanks for the help
  7. i was having problems with my intermediate shaft (if i remember right) on my 05 silverado rydell chevrolet in northridge fixed it no problem... come to think of it when i burnt out the pcm on my 03 silverado (messing with the shift pressure settings on my superchips tuner) it would'nt start they came and towed it there dealership and again fixed it without a problem even gave me a trailblazer to use for a day.. maybe you should go to them
  8. do you guys think a 275/55/17 would have enough grip i could get them for less then $110 each at tirerack (various brands) slicks will run me at least $163 (jegs catalog) plus i would have to get 16x10 wheels for the rear and that won't be cheap either i was'nt looking at spending well over $500 for the rear track use only tires (remember i also have to buy new everday tires for my 20's). all i need is 1 more 17 and two wide tires i also found 285/60/17's at tirerack?? this is getting confusing it might make better sense just to replace the rear 20's whenever i burn'em out but is'nt the consensus that the bigger wheels slow the truck down because the heavier rotating mass?. any other idea's or insight would be appreciated.
  9. i've got 295/45 yokohama avs st's right now (summer tires) there great but wearing thin and it's gonna rain soon, there fine in the rain (at least last year when they had more thread) but when it snowed they felt like slicks so i'm looking for a good all season tire for the 20's (thinking about michelin cross terrains?) but need something for the track?.. i know there are a few good brands that make a 275/60/17... i could probably get some 16x8's for the back, and tire rack has bfg ta's in 295/50's but that starts to get pricey, $124 a tire without shipping or mount/balance. goodyear eagle gt II's have 285/60/17's for $113 but i have'nt heard anything good about them, and i hate the goodyear eagles that came with my malibu
  10. have'nt been here quite as long (june 29th) but definetley feel the same as you about the site.. like any type of family not everyone always agrees on a certain subject or likes the same things, but when it comes down to it were all here to help each other out, and i like you am proud to be part of this group. congrats on your one year aniver-SSS-ery
  11. hey guys i'm going to be getting some new (or slightly used? depending on what i find) 20" tire's for my truck soon???.. i can't afford to burn'em up anymore there just a little life left in'em. so i'm looking into getting a pair of 16" or 17" steel wheels for the rear when i go to the track. my questions is what would be best?, for what reason?, and what do any of you use?... to get a little more specific i'm not looking into slicks (at least not yet) i'm trying to keep this on a budget. i know going with a smaller tire will help et's but it will also want to break lose easier right?.. so should i go with the 16x6.5 if so what tire size, brand, would you recomend for good traction?. or is the 17x7 a better choice?, if so why?... and again what tire size, brand?. my truck doe's have a 17x7 spare with a new 265/70 bridgestone dueler a/t as a spare, if i get one more like that would it work well?, or would i better of with another size/brand?. any help at all would be appreciated
  12. i have a 2wd "performance package" V-max X-cab with 4.10's the "performance edition" had the 3.73's my truck had a heavier suspension was taller and no 20's stock, the other type came with lowered suspension and 20's (SSS mechanical clone). there are a couple other differences but i won't get to technical now, just seems not everyone was familiar with the different packages available i've probably gone over it 4-5 times on this already any other Q's let me know..
  13. if you go to flowmaster's site you can see there are the original 40's, the delta 40's, and the super 40's, i had the delta on my 05 silverado 5.3 because i did'nt want the drone like the original 40's.. but when i got the 06 i got the new super 40 because there supposed to have all the sound without the drone.. so far it's been true for me!... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Did you find a major difference between the Super 40 and the Delta 40? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yeah there louder and have no problem with drone best of both worlds can't wait until i get some pacesetters
  14. if you go to flowmaster's site you can see there are the original 40's, the delta 40's, and the super 40's, i had the delta on my 05 silverado 5.3 because i did'nt want the drone like the original 40's.. but when i got the 06 i got the new super 40 because there supposed to have all the sound without the drone.. so far it's been true for me!...
  15. no x-pipe just straight duels.. simply cut the stocker off installed the super 40's and duel side exit.. still trying to find a tip that will fit and that i like..
  16. got a new digital cam and it records sound with video.. so i figured i'd get some opinion's on my exhaust.. there duel super 40's 3" in & out. let me know what you guys think?. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/9ff859a...87e016ca4c7.htm
  17. i have duel 3" in & out super 40's and there awesome.. sound better then the delta 40 i had on my last silvy.. they sound like the original 40 but without all tha drone in the cab... i'll try to post a video clip with sound.. just added the video clip heres the link.. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/9ff859a...87e016ca4c7.htm
  18. they go for $290 shipped on ebay brand new, and about half that used.. are you looking to sell yours? if so you would have to return your truck to it's stock tune before it could be used on any other truck... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> well mine is stock as i kept my core and got a new pcm from nelson tuning. so again whats it worth to you. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> $170 shipped i'm in so-cal so shipping should be real cheap...

  21. If you read that article those #" are for a 2wd SS. I don't think you will find to many stock AWD SS's running low 15's. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> http://www.gulfcoastnews.com/RT2003SilveradoSS.htm http://www.caranddriver.com/roadtests/6646...o-ss-page2.html how about high 14's?... read these articles and you will see what 2003 awd's run. out of curiousity how could you think that the awd trucks are so slow?.. they have always been high 14 low 15 trucks.. ask anyone on here (suprised no one else has said anything) my 03 xcsb 5.3 was running high 15's.. i've seen sss's run mid 15's at lacr in palmdale, and ask anyone in cali lacr "sucks" it's 3000 feet elevation and always runs around a half second or so to slow.. i'm not trying to start a debate with you, but it's just fact. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Guess I just have a slow truck. Buy the handheld now and then get a tune when you figure out you wasted your money. http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=26057 Read this and tell me how many stock trucks are running high 14's <{POST_SNAPBACK}> well maybe you do or maybe you don't but what i do know is there all mid 15's or lower some ran faster with no mods then others with mod's... it goe's to show you track conditions and driver ability have to be accounted for.. otherwise you could debate this all day you say "to-mato" i say "toma-to" i ran 15.6 bone stock at a shit track and at a good track close to sea level it would be around 15 give or take a tick and i had less then a thousand miles on it.. another guy in oregon/washington?? just ran 14.5 bone stock... and we all know the magazine testers use the best tracks with experianced drivers... also i stated i would be buying a "used" hypertech to experiment with until i get a tune (will post results) so i won't be wasting anything. so let's just agree to disagree.
