I was shocked. he got a much better launch but i passed him. We were on the way to a party when we both got stopped at a light. 2 miles before the next lite, no one anywhere near us, divided road. We got to 120 and then backed off. Truck has more ballz than i thought lol BTW how can i improve my launch. I had it in drive and just stopped on it at green. truck is AWD truck is bone stock***

under the radio? you mean between the two cig lighters? I ended up putting a main swich for the main LED's next to the Airbag on off... got the swich from radio shack and it looks very factory and has a red led on it when it turns on. I will be wiring up the reast of the lights to this. The radio is in the center consol. I ran the wires behind the dash, under the cup holder peice, under the 2 capartments and drilled a hole into the consol (can't be seen.) external speaker will be under dash. member plate: glued 4 suction cups on and have it next to the inspection sticker. Did not want it on front bumper above plates....looks bad... can't wait for the head/tail light strobes to come. once done i will post some pics. backseat is now full of jump kits, 02 bottles, my bunkers, workshirts, etc....

update: i have now put 1800 miles on it. lol whent to NYC a few times/ pen./ etc LOVE the truck. one day i was driving next to a rumble bee and a HD f-250 and they both gave me a thumbs up! another one of my friends is selling in f-150 now to get a SSS...

I am a firefighter and i am about to install my lights and radios in the new SSS (new to me, now 40K on clock lol) I think all i am doing is a dash dual LED, 2 grill, strobes in headlights and tail lights. I was thinking about putting the radio in the center consol. The dash, mid, cup holder are easy to take off so servicing it would be easy. Anyone know any other good places. Was thinking about the pocket above the cup holders for the switch panel, or maybe in the consol as well.... if anyone has any pics....want it to be as clean as possible...

I got the same problem. If you find out what it is tell us asap PLEASE! mine gets noisy only when on the gass though....

they said "somes with a 3 month 3000 mile warrenty." when does the orginal warrenty expire? got 39K now.....

It is not during turning, it is when the gass is applied. The higher the speed the louder it is. Seems to be the front diff. the dealer is 60 miles away and i don't think i will be able to leave it there to have it fixed. can any dealer fix it or just the one i got it from?

Hey all! as some as you already know i got a SSS....about 6 hours ago lol after about 200 miles i noticed a faint noise coming from something in the drivetrain. It is only apparent when i am accelerating and goes instantly away after i let off. what could this be? also, what fluids should i change first? The oil has already been changed.... thx all

I GOT IT!!! it is the greatest truck i have ever driven. I took it for a short test drive but i had to make a 60 mile trip and i fell in love. I have no idea why i even considered a lightning. This truck just kicks ass! I think i ended up putting about 150 miles on it today alone! My friend with a lightning likes my truck 10x more even though we both know his truck is way faster. My other friend is a tech for a ford dealer and is now selling his 04 f-150 for a SSS!!!! and i was getting around 18mpg highway 15city today! not bad..... once i stop using my lead foot maybe that will get a little higher but then again...rather have fun and spend a little extra....

it is almost 12 am on friday. I will be driving my truck home in about 17 hours!!! I can't wait!!! BTW giants won 17-0! (pre-season)

well once i get some money back i will do a little...then a little more....etc what do you guys think shuold be my first mods? I herd PCMforless tune is a must. I was also thinking an exhaust and filter....

thanks a lot everyone. This truck is perfect (except for gass miliage but o well) I will be picking it up on friday. I have to go into the city tomarrow and then to a giants game on thursday. This has been the greatest week ever lol. mods: on my comp this thread came up as moved...but i don't think it did. What did i do wrong and how can i prevent his in the future? THANKS 2 more days!!!

LOLOL the camaro counts as GM right! honestly the reason no mods for the future are planned is b/c i just blew all my money on the truck LOL maybe if i sell this SC and my old camaro parts on ebay......lol nahhhhh just use the sc on the truck lol

thx! I dont really want to mod it too much. most mod money goes to the camaro. Might do exhaust once warrenty is up...

Ended up being a "typo" (they claim) but i got it for 1K lower than the ad (20K out the door):bow: . 38000 miles and it kicks ass. Going to pick it up on friday. 04 silverado SS AWD. pics at dealer

I was planning on only using the bed when going out for a ride (quads), but i realized that they really can tow. I have a 2 axel, 1 car lengh (about) trailer, the we use with the f-250. You guys think the SSS could tow that with about 4 quads on it (1600 pds). In other words, can these tow about 2000pds on a trailer. just noticed orion :: SS sig: NVM above

Thank you all very much for your time. After reading that I am ready to buy this 04 if the price is right. Hopefully by the end of the week i will join the club! lol I have the 67 camaro for my speed needs. I just want a good daily driver, can put my bikes and quads in the back, tow a little, and be decent in snow. And what i think is the best looking truck of all time.... Once again thanks a lot!!! BTW when i was looking at the lightning 8/10 ppl said don't get one! lol update: scared of the truck now. Price seems too low. 21000 for a 04 4x4 SS. carfax clean

I know the MPG is horrible but overall how do you guys like your SSS? There is one locally at a dealer that i may buy on monday, but i want to really do my reserch before I buy. I was about to a buy a lightning a month ago but after finding out the motor had been replaced and the trans was poor i gave up. I need a truck for daily driving. The one i am looking at is 4x4, black, with 38000 miles. the only mods i will do is a intake and exhaust. I have my 67' for play. I realize that on this site people only post their problems. No one really posts "just wanted you all to know my truck kicks ass" lol put it this way, if you could go back, woudl you still buy a SSS or something eles. Please post everything you love and hate about it.
