Update: The condensor had a huge hole in it. Was a crappy aftermarket unit. Installed a much better one and it held a good vacuum for 25 min Recharged and running great! nice and cold. thanks for the help
  10. I put 20k on my truck the first year i had it. We HAD to take it everywhere. NYC, off road, towing cars, everything was with my baby.... got it with 38K in 06, now it is at 125K. 3 transmissions and a billion dollars in all the little junk that breaks every other day and still rolling.... you sure your not in NJ? I herd of a truck where the owner works at a body shop in lakewood that has 10K on his 03 SSS

  15. It is finally back from repairs. I missed it so much! I have been driven my business's delivery car: Ford Transit New performabuilt Level 3 trans rebuilt performabuilt billet 2800 stall converter Whetley Tune Some maintenance and minor repairs edit: new Cooper Tires (#@$@# tire prices are insane!) Very excited, only thing i did not miss was the HORRIBLE brakes lol I am shocked i never noticed it before. going from other cars (mustang, camaros, transit) to the SSS the SSS brakes SUCK lol (and the SSS is prob the fastest) Quick question: How do you break in a new trans and how hard is a built trans supposed to shift? Mine doesn't bang gears like i though it would. its actually pretty smooth unless you get on it a little. The more the peddle on the right goes down the harder it shifts...
  16. SO here is my story and maybe you will get some insight on truck exhaust: Stock for about 4 months Then i installed a SLP powerflo muffler. Just cut the old out and welded the new in. Sounded great for $50.00. Very mellow i was happy. Then,2 years later, the POS pipe i got from pep boys rusted out and the exhaust fell out. Got better pipe and reinstalled Then few months later the internals of the muffler fell apart (got it used and it lasted 3 years so i was not mad) Then i made a custom exhaust with 2 magna-flow mufflers that exit infront of the rear tire= Looked AWSOME, much more aggressive sound. Happy but girlfriend got sick of it Then after doing other work the manifold got messed up....so i did some Long Tubes and cat deletes (cats went bad at same time) at this point the truck is so $@#$#@ loud everyone on the road from Ferrari to civic wanted to race. I literally got a headache after my hour long commute. I did not take it out late at night b/c of how loud it was.... now it has Long tubes, no cats, and stock mufflers. My girl will ride in it and I am so much happier. So i pretty much did a full circle..... moral of the story, leave it alone. Your going to need a trans soon so save your money for that. If this truck is a project and you have another car to drive, then go for it! but this was my daily driver and the 67 camaro was the play car. Some how i messed that up at one point.
  17. AWD is the best. I am so happy i got AWD
  18. I did the exact same thing....lady stopped at a yield, left the intersection, then slamed the brakes 75 feet further at random because she "thought someone was merging"...... insurance cut a check for 2300 I fixed for 400..... rate never went up either. I was able to just push the fender in, new steel bumper, reuse plastic after a lot of massage with hairdryers new bumper supports bend my old crome grill back into place reglue the orginal plastic grill new headlight on pass side new headlight supports Trans cooler (tru cooler) did not get damaged it is 90% perfect. Truck has 120K on it and i stopped being really picky at 100K

    "Spare Tire

dont cut the cable! Take two floor jacks and support the tire lower the cable all the way take a flat screwdriver and a hamer and push the retainer into the hook. It looks like an upside down "T" with a little "safety" hook at the top. Push the saftey in, drop the "T" shaped part. Lower floor jacks remove tire from under truck I had to have my truck flat bed home b/c of a flat and a stuck spare once....
  22. i blew mine at 80K Performabuilt.com <---- Level 2+ is awsome
  23. i was really out of it when i read your post the first time but the second time helped A LOT THANK YOU! advanced auto 3 miles away has the right ones in stock! 22 for rear 19 for front! going to pick up in few hours (NEAPCO brute force heavy duty for aluminum shafts, demensions listed were right on and they claim its for my truck) Krambo= you were a huge help, thanks a lot. wish i was not so tired the first time i read your post edit; advance auto part numbers are: Part No 2-0621BF Part No 2-0631BF
  24. SO after trying the dealer they had the correct joints....at $85 a piece for just u-joints!!!!! ($170 total) after ship on gm parts direct they come to about $120 for the pair. Therefore, being the broke student that I am, I am now looking at options what i found are these universal-joints are spicer units. The front joint is the exact same as the rear EXCEPT there are 2 different caps. So make sure you get two different joints if any of you guys do your own.... Gm part numbers are; 89040243 is front 89040245 is rear Now i need to find the spicer number for these so i can order online. If anyone has any knowledge on how to cross them, it would be great! Krambo; thanks for the info, was looking for some part numbers to match and order but it seems you went though a similar ordeal. This whole thing is insane. Every joint i ever used before was a max of 15 bucks and everyone had them.... Going to try a good shop an hour away that may have these. ....what i thought would be a 20-30 min job is now going to last all weekend....
