  1. I got an Edge Racing TC and was wondering if anyone else was using one of these and what they thought about them. Mine is a 2800 stall because it will be DD. I also have a built tranny and before I put the TC in the truck would chirp at light throttle in the 2-3 shift. If I pushed the tow/haul button it would spin even more with a firmer shift. Again this was at light throttle with more throttle it was even better. Now with the new hight stall TC the truck will not spin them unless I really get on it. Is this do to the higher stall? Maybe the fact that it is looser robs me of power?
  2. I like the interior of the Hemi just fine, lol. I will take pics of the SRT-10 for you tomorrow. BTW, they have a lot of room behind the seats. Enough to put two 12" subs and an amp in a custom box.
  3. I have a SRT-10 and I have to agree with you. I don't like the way it sounds at all. I sounds like two Acura's racing, lol. I definitely like the rumble of the V8 from the Hemi Ram or Silverado. The Yellow Fever SRT-10 looks similar to the Rumble Bee to the untrained eye, lol. Take off the emblems and put some Hemi ones on and change the spoiler kit and viola you have a "wolf in sheeps clothing", lol. Jerry's Rumble Bee is in the 11's with no weight removal and it is a 4x4. Video below. http://media.putfile.com/SharaDon-Performance-05-Rumble-Bee
  4. Yep, I saw an Evo running the other day at a track and he was hitting the rev limiter on every shift. It was so bad you could also see flames from his tailpipe during those shifts. It sounded terrible too. BTW, he still managed a 12.2 in the 1/4.
  5. ROFLMAO I might add that the guy in the SRT-10 was not a good driver based on him spinning and taking his time to catch and pass you. If he practiced more his truck should easily walk you since they can do low'13's on street tires bone stock and 12's with DR's with a good driver. BTW, I also own a SRT-10 and like most other owners do not practice so I would probably spin more than the guy you raced. But once in second all bets are off, lol. I wish they made the RC in an auto like the QC. It would make it more consistent when racing.
  6. Bone stock I would put the trucks in the following order. 1. SRT-10(good driver needed on 6-speed) 2. Ford Lightning 3. Ram Hemi 4. Silverado SS The SRT-10 with a good driver can easily hit low 13's. The Lightning is in the mid 13'. My friends went 13.8 on a very hot summer day at the California Speedway. The Hemi Ram is in the low 15's bone stock.
  7. Actually, in '04 they came in Flame Red, Black, Silver(pictured below) and a very rare Blue with White racing stripes(also pictured below) sold only to VCA members and only 50 were made. In '05 they added the Yellow Fever edition and the Commemorative edition(White with Blue stripes). In '06 they had the Inferno Red, Night Runner edition(Metallic Black), and Mineral Gray(pictured). The Mineral Gray can look Pewter and/or brown depending on the lighting conditions. That is the color I think he was looking at in a SRT-10 Ram not 4.7L.
  8. Are the MSD's the best plugs for our trucks? I need to change to a colder set of plugs so I might as well change the wires too.
  9. I don't think he should have to pay anything since they are admitting that the cats killed the engine and they are covered for 8/80. But they are saying that it was driven after the CEL came on and that added to the damage. My question to them was "what is a reasonable amount of time to take it in to the dealer to find out why the CEL came on". It was not the blinking CEL just a normal one so anything could have caused it to light up even leaving the gas cap off can do that on some cars. Are you supposed to pull over to the side of the road and have it towed to the nearest dealer immediately. The engine shut off about 20-25 miles from the house the day after the CEL came on and the nearest dealer is about a 15 mile drive. I mean if you are coming home from work and get a CEL do you still drive home or drive straight to the dealer. I just pulled the engine out of my Silverado to install the 408 and offered it to my brother in law but even if he does not want to get the engine replaced at the dealer he would still have to pay them for the work they have done so far. He is going to have to contact an attorney if he want total resolution on this.
  10. Update: My brother in law had the dealer where he bought the Suburban pick it up since he has purchased 3 vehicles from them over the last couple of years. They picked it up two weeks later because they were busy and went through it. They said it had little or no compression on a couple of cylinders and they would have to tear into it in order to know what the cause was. If after teardown it turns out to be abuse he would be liable for the teardown and reinstall of components. They said it would be about $1400 for them to perform that work. They took it apart and discovered that the exhaust valves were burnt and agreed with my initial assessment that the clogged cats caused the engine damage. They think the excess heat from the cats damaged the engine. Now for the bad part: They say that because the vehicle was driven after the CEL came on that they will only cover 60% and only as a sign of good will. We called the Customer Care number and they just reiterated what the dealer said. Aparantly the district manager made the call and it is "Final".
  11. I am not sure about it staying at 40 when it is off but it could be a memory setting like the fuel gauge in my Honda. But the oil gauge does go up when I go WOT and I was told that is normal since the pump is spinning faster.
  12. Here is a video of the Silver QC with a supercharger and nitrous that does 10's. I doubt it was him that raced because he does not race on the street. I went with them to Fontana that day to get some pre-mod numbers on the Silverado. BTW, don't look at my ET, lol. The 408 is in now and once the engine is broken in I will be adding the STS. Also, your PC did not freeze it is just the video is in slow-mo at times to capture the weight transfer and wrinkles in the tires. My truck is the white Silverado that is completely stock and when they installed the 408 the mechanic said it looked like the air filter was the original one from the factory along with the spark plugs and wires. It had 40K miles when I got it. http://s171.photobucket.com/albums/u303/mi...nt=M4V00001.flv
  13. How about this one? http://www.yourcovers.com/dc_9330_10815.shtml
  14. I checked my injectors flow rating using EFI Live it showed 25.235972 Lbs/Hr on my 2003 5.3L and I believe our trucks run at 58PSI(4 Bar). Just to check I also looked up some 4.8L & 6.0L stock tunes since I just put in a 6.0L(or rather a 6.7L 408) and wanted to see what size injectors they came with stock and they were both using the same size as my stock injectors.
  15. My buddy has an '04 EC Silverado that has a 4.3 V6 and his truck shut off while driving. His neighbor who happens to be a mechanic checked it out and told him it was his coil. He unplugged it and plugged it back in and it worked since the truck started but later it turned off again. A new coil was purchased but the problem was still there so he took it to PepBoys to get fixed. They checked it out and told him it was not his coil but the connector itself that is bad. They said that it might require buying a new wiring harness but they would try the dealer to see if they could just buy the connector(pigtail) for the coil by itself. Does anyone have a part number for this part or a wiring harness laying around they don't need from a 4.3 to V8 swap?
  16. I sure hope they are pure(99.999%) gold to be worth that much. I used to have a lot of 1 ounce Maple Leaf gold coins that were 99.9999% pure back when gold was $300 an ounce. The only other coins that pure were the Krugerans(sp) from South Africa because the US coins were on 99.999 pure, lol.
  17. I think the STS rear mount kits are CARB legal but they are not front mount though. It is not that the Trick kit can't pass smog(sniffer) it is just that they need to get the testing done for CARB approval and it costs a lot of money. Only the bigger companies can afford to do so.
  18. Update: I went with my brother in law to the dealer today and they said it would cost 7K to rebuild the engine or 8K for a new one including the r&r. The 3 year 36 month warranty ended on the 5th of Dec but it only has 34K miles. The engine went out completely on the freeway on Dec the 16. We told them we felt the engine damage was caused by the faulty cat and that it should be covered under warranty. He said he would talk to his district manager to see if they could help offset some of the costs. He said that he did not think the cats could have caused that engine damage but would check it out and get back to us today.
  19. The cel was not blinking when I saw it but the day th truck shut off on the freeway I was not there so I am not sure if it switched to a blinking cel. The dealer told my brother in law that it would be 5K to replace the engine. They have not called him since then(yesterday) so I don;t know the status. Does anyone have the GM customer care service number?
  20. No mods whatsoever no even a drop in K&N. I was told the cats are covered for a longer amount because they are smog/emissions related but not sure if it covers engine damage caused by faulty cats. They did start rattling a few days before the bam and the cel light came on the day before but only a few miles had been put on(maybe 100 miles tops) total after the noise. The noise was only there when at an idle but not during normal driving.
  21. The truck is a 2004 but it was purchased in Dec of 04 and he has 30K miles so he is right at the 3/36 warranty. What gets me is that the truck is driven normally and never abused since 90% of the time my sister drives it to work and back.
  22. My brother in law's Suburban started making a rattling noise then the truck shut off on the freeway. He had it towed home then to the dealer and they finally looked at it yesterday because of the holidays. They tell him that the engine is down two cylinders and that it needs to be replaced. They are saying it was abuse if he drove it with a bad cat. What should he do?
  23. I just got one from Edge Racing last Wednesday for $580. I would have jumped at this one since you are also in SoCal.
